Hey guys!
Well haha. This was not easy. Not. One. Bit. Which I never expect anything to be but this was just, wow, beyond. Beethoven has always been my favorite composer to study and arranging this pretty much confirmed that. So many metal tones! If anyone was wondering, yes I absolutely got some inspiration form Dr. Viossy to tackle this. He gave a fantastic rendition and mapped it out for a guitarist. My tapping shapes are a little different than his and so is my arrangement but he initiated the tapping idea to me with some shapes that Beethoven did not mean for guitar. Thank you all so much everything. It means the world. BIG UPS for always rockin my casbah!
Best to ya

Amazing rendition bro!!! Horns up!!! \m/ :D \m/
Dr.Viossy the master has approved
The Legend Himself!!
And Tina S version ??
@@0ParisFrance she did great too
You are both amazing! Just FYI, this is my fourth or fifth time here, but I've listened your wonderful rendition more than 30 times. Listening to Beethoven genius on my favourite instrument through virtuosity of you, Eric and Tina has been a real privilege. So much tears not wasted... 🤘🤟
Oh my fucking god my face just melted off. This is brilliant.
+Jinkun2702 you sure it isn't just your tattoo? you're right, though, it's brilliant.
+Jinkun2702 I can see, gosh I'm sorry :(
hell yeah I do agree 👍
+cougarrain dayyym your a cougar
+alone will 😂😂 no lol just only a name
You can tell it's a very difficult one because :
1st he sit
2nd he's rarely smiling at the camera and stay focus on the guitar, Astonishing work my friend.
+lord batair (Lord Batair's Let's Play)
3rd He literally lets out a breath of relief after finishing. He was probably holding his breath off and on during that AMAZING performance.
i felt releaved too XD
+lord batair (Lord Batair's Let's Play) You can tell it's difficult because it's usually played with 10 fingers :P
***** True, true.
Obviously it's great work, a piece from Beethoven doesn't take neutral skill to perform
This is why many metalheads also like classical music.
yra
Yeah its true
You mean this is why so many classical fans are also hardcore metalheads!
Beethoven practically invented metal :P
i like it . .
The fact that Beethoven basically *is* metal aside, there are many similarities in complexity and melody between so called classics and some metal genres.
More proof that Beethoven was just composing metal ahead of his time.
Vivaldi as well - check out Four Seasons, Summer is amazing.
Reminds me of Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure!
Lol
I doubt that there was any heavy metal back in Beethoven's time since the electric guitar didn't exist yet. The only metal that was heavy then was the tuba, LOL!
But... what if Beethoven was a time traveler? What if he didn't exist in the first place? Who wrote his pieces? Who played them? Was it some cool dude with sonic sunglasses and a guitar?
He had to sit down to play this one haha. Awesome job man!
+Kfir Ochaion he is playing a classic music so he has to do it with it's style
+Kfir Ochaion Every classic piece is played like this on guitar.
+GuitarInferno This position is so much better than having the guitar on your right leg (left is you're a lefty). This isn't only for classical music. He is probably using this because it is damn near impossible to play something like this on your right leg. Learn you're facts before you say stuff.
+Kfir Ochaion Lol :D
+Guy Ramsey He wasn't talking about left or right leg, he was talking about sitting down. Make sure you're literate before you say stuff.
you know shit gets serious when eric sits down
Beethoven is the one guy of all the classic composers who I think would hear (ha) this and think, fuck yeah! He was the original metal.
I doubt many people will agree with me. I'm a life-long pianist and studied the classics. "Moonlight Sonata" will always be beautiful in my ears. Few people know LVB was a 32nd or 33rd degree Mason and a worshiper of non-biblical gods. Christianity has sanctified lyrics for "Ode to Joy," from the 9th Symphony, they call "Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee." Actually it is written to a pagan goddess. In my teen years I learned to "get into," get inside a piece of music, whether I was playing or listening. Van Cliburn came to town and played "Moonlight Sonata" when I was 17 and I found myself in something of a trance. From that day, I've understood the power of music. LVB's music will live on as some of the greatest ever; but it does indeed have a dark side to those who have ears to hear. No telling what he'd have done with today's technology.
What gods did he worship?
@Israelite Ram Sounds like he was a classical hermetecist. Judging by your tag you are also familiar with the traditions of old and how they revolve around astrology and ancient deities. Were you born under the sign of Aries?
I was born under a R/R sign next to a giant billboard with a lawyer holding a phone up to his face with "?ACCIDENTES?" captioned on it. does this I'm born under two different signs!!?!?!?!
actually Stravinsky is the original metalhead lol
you know its hard to play when 331erock has to sit down and concentrate
3 Years Later to write this reply: But still smiling! :D
or lord vihntero has to look at the piano
Instant favourite. My daughter applauded. She's 1. I must have done something right. :)
+Julia Linne You must have done something right indeed
+Julia Linne Keep doing it then.
You have something special sir
yeah man my 2 year old was rocking out as well
+Julia Linne my daugther loves watching him play the guitar
Beethoven is headbanging \m/
I really believe that he is the first metal head ever!
Don't forget Bach who predated Beethoven by roughly a century. I would be exceedingly happy if Señor Rock would tackle the toccata from The Dorian; BWV 538.
+MrS1lent0ne second that request..
he would deffinatly of been the lead guitarist or piano player of a metal band if he had lived today can almost see him running around a stage jumping about the place and headbanging lol maybe throwing a few pics into the crowd and presumably then going backstage to snort a few lines haha
Dany Sormunen 🤟🏼🤘🏼
Alright it has got to be said. I have followed you for over five years on here, watched you conquer some amazing pieces of music, do things with the instrument most never touch much less master. Ive been playing for 20 years, and I cant even compare to half of what you can do. But Eric... you just blew my mind for the first time, truly blew my mind, and I can tell by posture, body language, and expression that this was hard for even you. It pushed your technical limitations. This is one of the most musically complex pieces that exist, considered difficult even for its intended instrument. But you nailed it, hard. How are you not making millions with your craft? Youve got more talent than many of these composers did. Raw talent.
He's a great guitarist to be sure, but you really can't compare anyone's talent to Ludwig Van Beethoven. The man's mastery of music allowed him to continue composing despite being deaf.
Sure, he's really good. But have you heard the little "Tina S" version of this piece ? (here on CZcams)
@@pitfrr It's also good.
I agree!!! Wonderful job!!!
There is a huge difference between composing a hit song and be a master at guitar.
Being good at driving a car isn't the same as building a car.
To compose a hit you must master both as with building a good car.
Sounds like it'd make a good final boss track.
funny you should say that lol
Sawlan Wilson If you want to check it out, MyNewSoundtrack used the Dragon Quest sounds to turn this into a boss battle song.
Here: czcams.com/video/fhGul9A4-w8/video.html
Bloodborne - Ludwig's
Cause it will
Toccata in fugue meets metal please
+biohazard724 This guy deserves an award.
+biohazard724 If he can pull that off, he would truly become a metal god among men.
+biohazard724 Look up Phantoms by the Trans-Sylvanian Orchestra. It's an orchestra, but still amazing.
+oshizzlegizngahr I've seen it
+biohazard724 In the hall of the Mountain King meets metal please
I want more like this! More classical pieces!
I love the way he smiles. He knows that's his playing something so good!
He smiles in every video. Tis his trademark.
Me too! I think he smiles because he loves what he is doing :)
what was the name of the guy in Iron Maiden? The smily guitarist :D
Dave Murray - My father and I just call him "The friendly"
yobrowassupp
when Erock sits to play, then you know THE THING IS FUCKING SERIOUS!
Beethoven would headbang to this.
but he was deaf...
He wasn't born deaf he started going deaf in his late twenties and (if i remember correctly) wasn't ever completely deaf although it was functionally the same thing with time. He went deaf slowly over years.
He was 100% deaf after some point.
Milo Yiannopoulos no by the time he died he had roughly 20% hearing, he wasn't that old when he died
chris sturm Many sources state that he went completely deaf about 10 years before he died.
Fantastic! You should do Devil went down to Georgia meets metal
i third
+BeautifulNightmare I concur
+Coty Lee great idea!
Would be something like what Steve Ouimette wrote for Guitar Hero III (the boss battle against Lou)
+Rafael Calderon Only...you know...*better*.
I wonder what Beethoven would say to this if he was alive. Oh right. He'd still be deaf ._.
+William Sonnecti Rumor has it he listened through vibrations. So we just sit him in front of a wall of amps haha
dave fisher
Dude we all listen through vibrations. That's how sound works.
You know what I mean. We hear through vibrations passing through the air and into our ears, him being deaf he "listened" to them by feeling the vibrations versus listening to them.
+William Sonnecti Old Ludwig would crank it up to '11' and would *feel* it. :)
Just hearing this hurts my ears but it's not bad.
That was incredible dude!
+Lorcan Ward it is for better taping
The melody fits so god for a metal song
Valen Arenas
Metal is probably the closest major modern genre to classical music.
Stephen, Metel is closest to the Classical genre creativity-wise
@ Eren Jager: Fully agree with you.
especially with Beethoven's work
You rarely ever see anyone with such accuracy and ability and competence and confidence come together in one place to play like this man.
Well done.
Dr. Viossy's version may be faster, but this is more dynamic and musical in my opinion. Great interpretation!
really?? his is literally all the original notes this just has dual harmonies for the "dynamic" effect
+steve cabrera so...your point is?
+Dingus pretty much better more accurate in every aspect.
+steve cabrera I'm just not a fan of how Dr. Viossy plays the staccato notes and does the tremolo flutters. There's already a lot going on in the original song and I think adding all the extra flourishes detracts from the dynamic structure and texture of the composition. That's just my personal taste.
indeed its not always about speed but the presentation itself that makes the song shine.
The skill involved is astonishing.
Do a metal version of the presto from vivaldi's summer / the 4 seasons please!
Yes!!! Please
I think someone else already did that
Braden Cutright-Head yeah, you're right. after posting this, I actually search for it and found several versions :P
But still, none as good as this guy ;)
Here it is!!!! watch?v=cb-3qwlEsXc
search for children of bodom passage to the reaper ;) it's the summer theme u're looking for..but well i also wants a 331erock cover! :D
Beethoven would be proud , fuck yeah he would be proud.
Beethoven didn't have a guitar, so he wrote metal on the piano so others could be metal when the electric guitar was invented
this would make a great guitar hero song
I was thinking the same thing.
I wanna have it for Rocksmith 2014...
+Felix “XXL” Klimm why not both? 😁
+Vincent Lopez anyone can author this as a custom, well,it just requires good charting/authoring skills
Zeninguem8
neat. I do not have those skills
I think that's the best metal cover of this movement I've ever heard. Cheers mate !
Try the band Exmortus. They play this movement expertly. Saw them live. Outstanding.
I have no words to express my admiration for your works! Please, don't give up it! Keep it on! And please, more, more and more classical covers! God bless you and your divine gift!
Don't know how many times I've watched this now but it is one of my favorites that i keep coming back to, this and song of storms :) really nice job Erock.
Whatever you do....don't try Piano Concerto No. 3 from Rachmaninoff it will blow up your brain!!!
If he did and pulled it off. It would rip a hole in the fabric of time.
+darkcwboy another one?
darkcwboy summoning the Doctah simultaneously.
+darkcwboy Dr. Who might just spawn if he does it.
*****
but he is fucking damn good
I love when they mix classic musics with rock
holy moly man, song of epic proportions. really really really well done! one of my favorites by far!
EROCK, the best metal guitarist on CZcams. But he can't wink. Step it up Erock.
We need more classical into metal! :D great work!
I've always been a fan of mixing genres of music. Very well done!
That was the best I've ever heard you play dude!! Absolutely beautiful!!!
Beautiful! Keep rocking!
I was totally hypnotized by this amazing work. That was so good seriously.
This is one of the best things I have ever heard. Classic and Metal fit together so incredibly well.
That was amazing! I could see the effort it took to pull off was immense and can't imagine the amount of practice you put into it, but this has to be the most impressive metal cover I've seen on your channel. Great work!
This is definitely by far my favourite of your works, and I like most of your works.
First I watched the 1st movement, and I was thinking how would you play the 3rd... and here I am all happy after I REALLY enjoyed your work on this! I can see how much you love Beethoven and his music art... it shows in your face while you play.. and I can see how much practicing you put on this.. GREAT job! Bravo! ^_^
Metal and Moonlight sonata, two of my favourite things :)
I subscribed just because of how you smile when you play guitar. You encourage to keep picking up my own. great stuff man keep it up
Excellent! Can't stop listening to this.
Imagining 331Erock with a powdered wig and 17th to 18th century clothing sitting around a table with Beethoven and several other classical composers having a friendly discussion about music while drinking good German beer while I listen to this
My brain has melted from awesomeness, I need to sit down 😂
SOOO good! I played this when I studied piano and it is not an easy piece, I love what you do with it! Keep them coming, I really enjoy your stuff!
Easily my favourite classical piece and one of my favourite pieces of music and you've done it amazing justice in my favourite genre. Thankyou my friend.
I've been waiting so long for this! YAAAAAAAS! \m/
Awesome, could you possibly do Canon Rock? \m/
I think he already has, if not him I think CRcanada has played it.
+PlainSailingWeather He already has it here - /watch?v=jau8gMtapQo
+PlainSailingWeather Unfortunately the version he did had someone else playing parts. Not someone most of us would be a fan of.
Barry Kyle Well i liked that version, maybe because i listen to both of them :)
Barry Kyle
yeah I saw that, I wasn't a fan, I'd like Eric to do it solo.
This is the best cover of the 3rd movement I've ever heard. I already listen to most of your stuff on loop ad infinitum, but this one gets to play ad infinitum-er. Keep on rocking on my good man.
WELL done, sir. You killed it on this. I really dig your work in general, but the technicality of this piece is a level above. You killed it.
I just listened to Dr. Viossy's version (which has 7 million views) and IMHO just does not compare to the precision and the soul of yours. Well done, Erock.
this will sound silly but to me this sounds like epic battle music
An extreme of goodness. Totally excellent! Loved it!
This is definitely my favourite. Keep going dude, you're amazing.
man....Beethoven was metal as fuck.
Beethoven was the true initiator of metal. At least it seems to me like this...
Awesome as always!!
Epoustouflant de talent et de maîtrise !!!!! BRAVO
Holy Sh!t!! Mad kudos dude. Just finished my college music course and covered the 1st movement. Enjoyed that and found the 3rd and LOVED it. Mad props for doing this man. Great job!!!!!!
Ludvig Van Beethoven! One of The Original Rock Stars!
*THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR MEETS METAL*
That ever present smile in each video, i love it. True art is from the soul and he clearly nails it.
Your playing is exactly what I wanted from a metal cover of this movement. Amazing.
The music of Ludwig van Erock. His favourite works include Mozart's Requiem, Handel's Messiah, and Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet.
Look at that fucking skill!
This is so damn great to listen to while working (CAD engineer here). I wish there were hours more of stuff just like that!
Keep it up man, you're awesome!
iv'e always loved your stuff dude... but THIS one... sold me as a subscriber!
ive been doing midi with my keyboard for YEARS... and this movement was one of my early "crowning" moments. i honestly didnt think i would EVER hear it on a guitar, much less, in metal.
keep on rockin man, left breathless on this one. awesome job and i hope the finger bleed isnt too bad :)
Brother Erock! Thank you so much for tackling this masterpiece! Arguably not only the most difficult piece to play, but also your best performance to date. Your willingness to keep evolving and breaking new ground solidifies my commitment to support you through Patreon. BTW, wherever did you get the idea to chuck your pick at the camera? Thanks man.
Brother Eric! I knew you'd come!!
Awesome Sound!! (and the Shred of course) !
what make eric's vids are being watched is not only because of his great convertion, but also that he is always smiling no matter what.
Bet if beethoven was still alive he'd bring out his piano and mosh along with you
you know there's an epic boss battling happening at this moment
Still one of my favorites by you, Eric. I hope to see some more of these classical metal videos soon! :D
Speechless! Stunning perfomance
BROTHER NEEEEEEEEROOOOO
M H-W I KNEW YOU'D COME
_furiously plays piano poorly_
THIS PIECE OF MUSIC IS ABSOLUTELY... DELIGHTFUL AAAAA YEAAAAS
Yay! I've been asking for this :] Now it's time for Liszt!
Astounding work my friend, the level of skill is incredible.
This is something else. You absolute madlad. Cheers
You have done the impossible my friend..
Beethoven would be so proud of you.
Please do, Sergei Prokofiev - Dance of the knights.
love this song, such an awesome cover.
Your videos deserve more views and likes. Totally love them!
Brother Erock, I knew you'd come!
Rise of the Valkyries would sound cool in metal form
Thank you Jared for making me watch this man. Truly awesome instant sub. :)
Man, you are the best. I really love see you playing guitar.
wonder why video game companies don't hire you man, these riffs are awesome!
I know you're comment is from 3 years ago, but I'd like to say that I'm a game developer and I'd definitely hire him if I had the funds. He shows an amazing talent at adapting many different themes, so he'd be perfect imo
Every time I see one of your videos I just wanna be your friend
So awesome! Thank you!
331Erock. Impresionante ejecución. Perfecta.
I'm sure Beethoven is throwing the goat from beyond the grave!
This version sounds like a soundtrack straight out of a Castevania game at times.
This was in Symphony of the Night actually. Way back in '97.
I thoroughly enjoy your covers dude 🤘🏼
This has been missing desperately from my life. THANK YOU :)
