Ive had mine for a lot of years now , ive always loved the ergonomics and overall love the gun BUT i was terribly innacurate with it , no matter how much i used it and practiced i sucked with this gun. Then i got the Grey Guns Flat trigger and everything changed. The reason it changed is because the Grey guns trigger starts more forward in the trigger guard and breaks in the vertical position. I have big hands and having the trigger break all the back at the grip was causing me to be pushing the trigger with the tip of my finger and never the same twice . Instead of my finger being at a 90 degree angle to the trigger my finger tip was pointed back at my wrist when the trigger broke . I had a new found love for this gun that i knew was destined for greatness.

I agree, the VP9 is over-engineered for a polymer gun. Thats why I went with the P30, plus I wanted a hammered fired gun. Had the gun for about a month, plan on carrying it. As far as holsters, I wish T rex arms made one but JM custom kydex does and for all models, I’m satisfied with it. As far as the trigger, maybe I’m just used to crappy triggers, but I really dont get the hate. Besides my XDM Elite, I can shoot the P30 pretty damn accurately.

I have shot most 9mm guns since 2006. Right now I only own 2 guns, a 9 mm Sig p226 Elite and a 9mm HK P30L V3. The Sig is heavy and shoots like a dream, but my fave is the HK. I have the compensator for the HK and even with it on, it never jams and it feels like it was personalized for my grip.

I own two P30's and one VP9. Nope they are sister guns. They feel like siblings with maybe a tiny less grip on the VP9 and slightly narrower. Surprisingly there is noticeably more flex on the P30 grip. Try it. It's true. With the P30's rock solid rep I expected it to be the other way around, but no. All of these guns are ergonomically wonderful grip wise. Not a sacrifice either way. The biggest difference you will totally notice is the trigger. The P30L V3 has a dry hump trigger. Just not gratifying the same way, bit I can shoot it well but it is easier to shoot the VP9 well. Effortlessly so.
The P30L is a gorgeous gun. Better looking than the VP9 to me. The P30 is the you would bring home to meet the family, the VP9 is the range whore... but you wanna take her to the range more, she is better in the sack and more fun on the weekends. She "performs" better. ;) I love all of them for different reasons. I carry the P30sk most, shoot the VP9 most. The P30L is collectible, but I do take it out. Love them all.

Inspires me to add a P30 V3 to my team. I think the texture of the grip is similar to my Sig P226 Elite E2 one piece grip. I think of it like a tacky felt. Velcro like tacky. The H&K VP9 and P30 back straps and side panels are the pistol industry grand prix champion design. No other maker is equal to the 27 possible combination of these panels.

I do not have a P30 but I do have a VP9 and its flawless. I did change a few things but hey, its important to make things as reliable as possible. So in went a metal guide rod, metal striker cover, solid back plate and full flitz polish of the feed ramp. 4800 rds and no issues. Be it 115 to 147g+P. Maybe its over engineered but I would trust it. Just not as much as my USP 45! LOL Now that's my gotta have in battle gun. Almost 8k rds and 1 FTF which was my bad. Found a dented old 45rd at range all corroded with a light strike. It did fire the round but didn't extract case right. HK does hate us but man they make nice guns! LOL

Non-fast, spongy triggers complaints are absolute bullsh!t in real life defensive shooting. When a person gets shot at there will be quick movements as a reaction. Therefore the 2nd, 3rd subsequent shots are likely to miss. The best practice is to shoot intentionally & on target. NOT PANIC SHOOTING! Which is what fast shooting triggers promote. These constant factory trigger complaints & it's almost every handgun out there are just absolute bullsh!t. I'll say it outright, most gun tubers out there promote unsafe CCW practices. Sorry you may have misunderstood me at 2:25 what I meant by “this model does not have the manual safety which I would prefer” was that I would prefer this model without the safety. It just came out a little weird lol

Many consider the HK VP9 trigger to be one of the best in the striker-fired industry. I hate striker-fired pistols, so the discussion is a moot point. If I were to ever consider one, the VP9 would be a top pick!

I avoid double action at all costs. Try a no fail drill at 25 yards and that made my decision for me.

The P30 trigger isn't subpar. It's just bad. I chose a 92A1 over a P30 for a DA/SA gun in my collection, because the 92A1 had a better trigger on both pulls out of the box.

I'll always like the H&K USP because of Tom Cruise in Collateral. That one movie is 100 times better than the entire John Wick series.

You might ask Odin if they would adapt their Appendix Plus, as they make other holsters for the various P30 models.

The VP series is fkn GARBAGE. They are not even worthy to carry the HK name. HK farmed them out and didn’t even even make the VP pistols. THAT is why they suck. That is why the grip texture is crap…like the rest of the pistol. P30s are THE best fighting pistols on the planet, hands down. I own 5 of them in different configurations…they are awesome. The VP series shouldn’t even have the letters “HK” on them…I do NOT like Glocks, and I’d take a Glock over a VP. If you like the P30….grab a Langdon Tactical Technologies P30. They take them to the next level.

    • @FirearmFreedom

For me I have had no issues with my VP in the 8 years that I’ve owned it. But I definitely can understand the frustration and the P30 is far superior

I have three HK pistols. I won't buy a LEM. Not a fan. HK is a great company and I love my pistols. I honestly think they are the BEST handgun manufacturer out there. They get a lot of hate, but I think it is misplaced. Best to you, sir!
