- I've been hunting for one of these for a very long time. (At least it seems like it! 🤣)
I'm pleased to bring y'all the first look for the HK P30s V3 9mm. This is a DA/SA pistol boasting a magazine capacity of 17+1, and ambidextrous controls.

Good video. Thanks for sharing. The P30 is clearly NOT a target gun. It’s a Combat Pistol. It’s my EDC for over a year. And for all those whiners out there crying about the trigger: Train enough and you can push through it.
Double action triggers make better shooters. The more people I expose and convert to double action guns, the more I hear back from them that they've improved with single action and striker fired guns as well.
@@ArchetypeofManMoss huh? That's IV8888’s old stomping grounds.
What's a commonly carried "target" gun?
Have mine 10 years now and love it
That's a solid endorsement!! Glad to hear it!
I just got mine about a year ago. Never owned a HK. I love the feel and handling of this gun. I am one of those who learned pistols on the 92fs and compare every handgun to that. I still haven't really found anything that I think is as smooth on recoil as the 92. It almost seemed to recoil straight back so that you really never came off the target. I am still training with this p30 trigger so I hope with some time it will be second nature like the 92fs for me. Love the gun and only complaint would be the trigger reset seems a little long. In the end as long as you can hit a bowling pin up to 50 yards it doesn't matter what type of trigger you have! :)
Earnest Langdon just released his improved p30. Trigger job with shorter reset and optics cut. I went with the LEM model with a 3.5lb pull and will never look back. Love the p30
I'm probably going to send mine to him for some milling magic, and definitely some trigger work. I've loved my Langdonized M9A3
Unfortunately LTT doesn't offer the p30 with a safety
@@dubhe27 Good.
@@dubhe27 Im pretty sure they accept S type guns now for custom work. So if you can't get one from them you can send them one.
Got the p30 SK. Wonderful.
exactly why my sig p250sc has been AIWB for the past 7 years. It works for me and it's become second nature. Least expensive one I own but safe, reliable, and comfortable. I like the p30 and was checking out one in 40.
The P30 V3 is great
Hate the striker fire pistols. My neighbor shot the back of his heel off. Had holster in back of his jeans, shirt got down inside it, and snagged on the trigger
With the da/sa can leave a round in the chamber but the hammer decocked
Love my Beretta PX4 Storm cause its da/sa. After what I saw my neighbor do and my local sheriff encouraging people to change their concealed carry from a striker fire to a da/sa, I'm here watching reviews for the past couple weeks trying to settle on the my new concealed carry
This HK P30, the Sig Sauer P938, and Springfield Armory XD-E is what I have it narrowed down to
Great & honest video review, this is a golden gift. Usually you see so many people trying to down play double action guns.
Thank you so much, Basil. I appreciate that. Us DA/SA guys gotta stick together. lol
Best P30 review on YT. Love the logic and approach.
Thank you so much for the kind words. I appreciate that a lot!!
I appreciate your philosophy regarding AIWB. I’m a bit disturbed by all of the caution that’s been thrown to the wind in the CCW world over the last 5 years. Almost every self-inflicted gunshot wound from an ND that I’ve seen on video has been from a striker-fired gun (typically Glock, hence the term “Glock leg”) during the holstering or unholstering process. It’s really quite nuts that not only have these striker-fired / no safety guns exploded in popularity, but also AIWB has exploded in popularity with them. And anyone that doesn’t feel quite comfortable with a 5 lb trigger pull that can’t be stopped during holstering with a thumb on a hammer being the only thing between life without a testicles and a femoral artery gets called a Fudd or a ninny. No thanks - not for me. The real kicker for me is the explosion of popularity of the so-called “striker control device” for Glocks. So ridiculous -just get a hammer-fired gun! They’re admitting that their beloved no-safety striker gun is unsafe to holster without modification.
If I’m even going to consider AIWB, it’s going to be with a gun like this. I would probably decock AND keep the safety on. I like having my manhood and my circulatory system intact if I fumble on some of the mechanics during a life and death situation. Thanks for the review.
I love my P30 and will never get rid of it
I love my P30 in 40cal, and my VP9sk in 9mm is main rotation of EDC for me
When I used to shoot pistol I loved the HK USP. It was a club gun that we could hire, my comp gun was a Tanfoglio XL4. I agree with having a visible hammer, if I was allowed to concealed carry I would definitely go for a visible hammer with decocker, nothing worse than accidentally shooting off your Johnson 😥. Thanks man for another great informative video 👍👍👍
Thanks Kieran. So no carry at all in Australia? I was curious if it was allowed at all. Sounds like it's not. :(
@@ArchetypeofMan Hello Nick, no carry firearm for self defense here, self defense in Australia is a grey area, carring anything for self defense is not allowed except for mabye a whistle or something usless like that, too many times people have defended themselves and the offender has played the victim card and the defender gets penalized and the offender walks free. We are all backwards here and sadly things are getting worse, the country is falling apart and being ruined by a corrupt and incompetent government. We started as a penal colony and heading back around in a loop to being a penal colony again. Fact is the government don't like it's citizens owning firearms here and little bit by little bit we are losing more and more, owning firearms here is a privilege, not a right so I feel like we are skating on very thin ice all the time. Don't look at Australia as a model for firearm reform, it's bullshit, it's really about stripping firearms from citizens who already own them and making it harder for citizens to obtain them until ultimately nobody has them. Thanks again Nick, have a awesome day 😇😇😇
It’s my daily carry. A fantastic pistol.
It's become mine as well.
I'm lucky enough to own a couple HKs. Four of them are various models of P30. I have smallish hand and the P30 just fits my hands very well.
Great review. I have a P30SK V3. Love it. Agree 100% with you on the DA/SA safety aspect.
I have 2 P30 in .40 one V3 and V1 I brought my first P30 V3 back in 2010 and 7 years later brought another P30 V1 very good pistols the the triggers are a little bit jerky but I adapt to it
My son got me the same exact one for Christmas. It fits. No hidden striker/safety/decocker like my HK Vp9, smaller, lighter, and cheaper to EDC than my HK P30 .45 and USP .45. I EDC with a bellyband at 12:00, a lazer/light combo, and will add a 20round mag and a weight match comp for tighter consistent groups.
I agree with you on the extra safety of carrying a hammer-fire/decocker appendix. I myself carry a P30. I don't, however, like the safety version of the P30. A decocked gun and double action is good enough safety for me.
Good stuff Bro just picked the exact same model up today from the gang at Aim Surplus! Dam I’m so excited to shoot it but the nights snuck up on me and I’ll have a wet dream instead!🤣 On a serious note I appreciate that you took the time to show the break down of the slide. You saved me the time to have to retype 👍🏼Enjoy and be safe ✌🏼
Outstanding video! Great explanation of the benefits of DA/SA w/safety. I have carried my P30S V3 40S&W since 2008. I carry mine OWB. It’s been a great gun! I have fired a little over 3000 rounds through it with zero malfunctions. It gets no better than that! I love my 1911’s, but I just can’t seem to get away from my P 30 for EDC.
Thanks. Great video. I have same concerns with striker w/o manual safety.
Excellent video sir. I'm a DA/SA & DAO semi-auto guy as well as a major HK fan boy. The P30 was one of my early "grail guns" and I've been fortunate to own several of different configurations. Personally I love the v1 LEM trigger variants (v7 for USP/HK45 models). I'm probably going to have to compromise in a v3 safety model for my next purchase, P30L in .40. On the subject of AIWB I totally get where you're coming from on running a hammer fired pistol over a striker. Before switching to my P30sk v1 and P30 v1, I was a CZ guy for the same reason. That being said I also do carry a optics ready VP9 appendix frequently with no concerns whatsoever. As for optics since you've posted this both Wright Armory and Langdon Tactical have announced milling options for the P30 series guns. I'm probably going to send at least my P30 to LTT this winter for both milling and a trigger job. Looking forward to checking out your other videos.
I have an LTT slide on my M9A3 and couldn't be happier honestly. They do great work. I will likely be doing the same with my P30 at some point.
Great video. I Just added a P30 V3 to my gun collection and I love it despite the not so great trigger. Its ergonomics, decoking mechanisim and looks are great. I just wish there were bigger selection of holsters to choose from.
Love my P30SK LEM. Yes, I carry appendix.
Nice choice brother
It's my next purchase. HK P30. I choose the . 40 cal . Great video 📹 Thanks 😎👍🎯🎯💥🔫💥🔫🙋♂️
Thanks for the kind words James!
i have the large back strap on the grip+small sides: chambered in .40 and it competes with my fnx .45 & 92fs/96a1. i do have to get new sights! after 9 years the night sights are kinda faded and really rusty; while the slide does needs some attention, there is no rust AT ALL..
the thing is my doomsday sidearm!
That's a pretty strong endorsement!! Glad to hear that!
Like your self. I too picked up a P30 recently. I have wanted for a long while. Here in Arizona there is a company that mills P30’s for a red dot. The problem is they charge in the $400’s for it. Absolutely insane imo. Thanks for the video.
I looked into them. they DO have a pretty click mounting system though.
The company you're speaking about (which I won't mention), produces some of the best work I've ever seen. So you're turning your already expensive firearm over to absolute professionals and you'll receive the best modification capable.... but for an admittedly high price. Yep... no doubt their spendy, but it will be done right the first time.
Langdon does P30s now.
My only regret in my purchase of my HK P30 .40 cal is i wish it didnt have the safety. But cant complain on the price i got it for. In Ga as well, Newton...
Have plenty of sig DA/SA pistols in 9mm, .40 and .45. All elites with the short reset trigger. Not too heavy to carry. But I carry IWB at 3:30 with kydex or hybrid holsters. Spare mags opposite side. Still prefer the Vp-9 and Glock 19x as my daily carry.
Wanting the VP9SK, because all I’ve ever known were SF guns. With that being said, I could get the P30, even though its a different system. I like the fact that you have the option of carrying either DA/SA, if it has a safety of course. As far as re-holstering, either type of gun is the same imo. Imo re-holstering appendix is easier because of sight angle. The trigger cant just get pulled by itself.
I had my P30L that’s optics cut. Greatest investment ever. I carry this gun all day every day summer winter and fall.
How’s the recoil compared to sig p320 or Glock?
@@coreyeason6841 hard to tell since i only own HK pistols. My friends have sigs. I have shot them. Great guns. Sorry i don’t have direct comparison info
Love my P30..my go to when SHTF
Have p30l, super comfortable weapon !
I have a P30 SK V3 and an HK 45 Compact . I love my HK's. The subcompact has a much lighter trigger that your Pp30 single action coming in at 3.5 pounds . And the paddle release I use my trigger finger instead of my thumb. Good job with your video
Thank you, Frank!
Got my P30sk v3 back from LTT, with 8-lbs dbl action and three-dot tritium sights. Nice work and back in TWO weeks.
I like HK too only problem when you mill the slide is hard to find holster with RDS cutout. I have a V3 p30L and VP9 OR tactical
Got my P-30 in 9mm about a month ago, feels great in the hand but I haven't shot it jet.
I really wanted a usp compact v3 in 40 or 9 mm,I have been looking for one since before the pandemic.
Gun store where I got the p 30 ,had a usp but a full size and the grip felt too big for my hands,so i went for the P-30.
I still have an itch for the USP compact,no matter how long the wait, preferably new or used I will get one.
Those USPs are certainly nice. I still want one too.
Have hk p30sk, love the gun hate the reset but for $80 grey guns has the reset for the p30. 20 min reset like sig 226
An hk is an hk can't go wrong I have 4 myself have the vp9 that I carried for years .. have the p30L in lem an then the p30sk in v3 with safety an hk45 in lem
Have to safe have a hate/love relationship with the lem trigger system I have to say for carry I am learning to a v3 double/single
We appreciate you too.
Just switched to 30 - loved the video
Thank you. I hope you love your 30 as much as I'm loving mine!!
If you like the safety of the hammer fired and the consistent trigger pull of the striker fired, then the P30 V1 LEM trigger with the grey guns short reset kit is the way to go.
Sound like you have some smarts. I carry the p30sk for appendix and i have no worries for my man parts. 15 rounds hkallday
I'm typically not accused of possessing an above normal level of intellect, but I'll take it lol
safety model is your holy grail
Just the P30 in general
I want appendix carry too! Look at it for the same reason.
I have the L variant, I just think the longer barrel adds some capabilities as far as velocity, handling, accuracy and range are concerned, but then again the S variant is more reminiscent of the venerable P2000. I started my H&K status with the VP-9, and while that weapon might be a contender for one of the best factory striker fired guns, yeah, no, the P-30 is a step up, IMAO only.
LOVE my P30, I got the V1 LEM, kind of miss the deckocker like on my USP .40
I do like the decocker quite a bit, but the LEM trigger is pretty nice too
i got the V3, pickig it up this sunday man and I cant sleep im so excited.
I have a P30 it a great CCW
I really wish they made this is 357 sig I have my USP in 357 but I love how these guns fire and feel
357 Sig is a ballistically awesome round. I just wish ammo cost/ availability was better 🤣
@@ArchetypeofMan thats why i started reloading only because of 357 sig but now i reload everything lol
Can’t go wrong with an H&K. Love my VP40!! Was gonna go with USP40 but then saw the VP. VP wins!!
It's the nonproprietary rail that I hear sways most folks to the VP/ P30 side. Don't get me wrong, I'd love a USP, but more for fun than practical use. I think you made a good choice, as far as my 2 cents goes
Nice choice but can't go wrong with any usp in any caliber those things are build lime tanks an the usp 40 was specially build for the 40 caliber
I almost got a closed to getting one a month ago but was sold a day before I got there
No problem with that group and location.
Look at the Pro-S holster by 2A Holsters for your WML equipped pistol.
I may check it out, but i work for GearCraft, so I can make pretty much whatever I need lol
P30 vs P30s... I’m a stickler for safety - it’s a necessity. But... is it really necessary on a da/sa with a firing pin block? The point of negligent discharge occurs when holstering, which should only occur once a day. Careful holstering with thumb on hammer should suffice, as that long-heavy trigger makes it difficult for a ND even if caught in clothing.
On the other hand, a safety is peace of mind but it presents a potential fatal flaw in an adrenaline dump situation.
Thoughts?
Where did you get your holster. I have a P30ls and haven’t been successful locating an outside the waist band holster. I did purchase an appendix one from tulster holsters, but they don’t make one for the P30ls.
Nice! 👍🏻👍🏻 I had the opportunity to shoot an HK VP9 at the range one day, and loved it. It felt great, shot even better than it felt, and I liked the sights. I outshot the owner with his own pistol...he was just a little embarrassed, needless to say...😆 I've wanted to get one ever since. I'd also like to obtain a Sig Sauer P229 as well.
I'd like the P226 Elite that came through the shop the other day. A P229 would be an awesome addition. :)

Agree. Give me a HAMMER fire. Da sa DECOCKER
Did you ever consider the "LEM TRIGGER" Variant?? 🤔👍
Does the safty rub or make shooting uncomfortable
How many grains of Winchester 231 do you use with the 124 grain Berrys?
4.2 grains seems to be the sweet spot for me.

What holster are you using? Sorry if I missed it in the review
Great question! I need a holster for mine as well. No light but probably in the future. It’s been tough finding a holster like the one in this video that is for the hkp30. Hopefully someone can answer this
Not trying to tell you what to do, plus you've probably already considered it - and I have no clue if it could really become an issue - but you may want to consider covering the serial number on your guns that you show in videos/pics
I've heard a variety of opinions on that. The way I see it, there's not much someone can do with that info, and the government surely already knows who has what at this point. If you have ANY opinions counter to what's gotten the stamp of approval from the man, and you've expressed those opinions.... we're probably on a list lol
Can anyone recommend a kydex IWB holster for this exact model? I looked on "We The People" site but they had none for this model. I will not be mounting a light on mine. Nice video, I'll be picking up my HK P30s in a few days. I have the VP9 also, and a nice gun but not wanting to blow off my boys LOL!
GearCraft Holsters. Full disclosure- I work for the company- but we can get ya squared away.
If you could only choose a p01 or p30 what would it be?
Oh, that's a hard question. I'd probably go P01, but it could go either way, honestly. lol
Get a Langdon Tactical Glock Striker Control Device.
Looked into that, but I prefer other pistols to Glock. Not bad guns, mind you, just not my cup of tea
Should’ve gotten P30L.
For me, it doesn't really a make a difference. However, the one I wish I would have gotten is the LEM one
Great review, up to the point about approved ammo for the P30. Its not debatable. Read your Owners Manual, page 18. Do you know better than H&K engineers?
Good sober mature review👍

GearCraft Holsters
@@ArchetypeofMan thanks I have a similar set up
Not sure why you didn't just buy a P30 with LEM???
Hmmm vs3
Guys who make comments AIW carry, how close is your trauma kit?
Normally within arms reach.
The mags are the shittiest ever, 2 base plates broke in my pocket.
Dang!! I'm sorry to hear that. So far so good with mine. Nothing has broken yet. At the price they sell replacements for, I hope they don't either lol
What does the "s" mean in P30s V3?
Safety variant. P30 can come with or without the manual safety
