- Is your Splendide 2100XC taking forever to dry? Or maybe not drying at all? There are tons of videos out there, showing you certain washer cycles to run, but take it from me, those just don't work. Here is THE DEFINITIVE FIX! Also I'll show you a mod I made to make the cleaning process much easier and faster.

Thank you for all your content. I have watched you and your family's adventures for years and really enjoy your weekly videos. I have an Open Range 3X309RLS and it's great having an on-line example of how to work on "our" rigs.
Hey thanks for the thoughtful comment Steven. Knowing this content is reaching people that can use it, motivates me to create more.
Your 3X is probably a little more robust than ours. How do you like it?
@@ProjectTrek Thank you Nate. I like our 3X a lot. I try to stay on top of the maintenance and never abuse her and I have been very happy with the build! Our model was only produced for a couple years. She is only 33' long but I find it a great size for my wife, two dogs and myself. It affords us a king-size bed and a nice size shower and all the amenities of home. Plus, the 3" walls really do help with the weather regardless of season. I think the 3X is a great value for what you get for the money!
Thanks again and keep up the great work.
Great job. Not many people would cut that sheet metal. Maybe you can get one of those plastic access panels at HD to prevent cuts and allow future access. This a awesome info for others with Splendide. I know I will remember this mod.
That's a great idea! Thanks!
I was able to use a mini shop vac to suck it out from outside the RV. Took a couple minutes and a little elbow grease but worked. Thanks for the info on where these clog!
Same. Shop vac for the win. Was about to cut an access panel.
Another great how to video. Lucky you have good access. I’ve seen some washer/dryers in horrible locations.
Very true. Ours was enclosed, but I modified the cabinetry to have it exposed.
An awesome mod. I’ll remember this for when our Combo unit (newly installed) stops drying. First time I’ve seen your vids. We’ll done.
Great! Thanks for watching Richard!
Ya know. They make a $3 tool for clearing drains that would do this with just access to the vent outlet on the back. Pull out the drier, push drain clearer in, pull out the junk. DONE
It’s a flexible flat plastic piece with “barbs” along the edges that piece and grip the hair and fibers so you can pull them out.
No need to unplug, no need to cut the side, and much faster.
Great idea! I’ve used those before. Not sure if you’ve seen this rubber boot before but there are some tight turns in there and it’s an odd shape. That zip strip you’re taking about would definitely help break up the wet lint, but it would have trouble removing it. It might work better once the lint has completely dried.
It’s crazy the amount of compacted lint accumulates in there.
I did the same thing. I used the drain weasel.
Fixed it. Only thing did different was that i drilled a 1/2” hole to reach the lamp. Work perfectly. Thanks
Thanks for this! After cutting the opening I covered all the edges with duck tape; no more sharpe corners!
I got nearly double the “junk” than you did and mine was dripping wet.
Thank you! Great info.
Glad it was helpful!
good video. We have one but don't really have the access like that. Will need to figure out how to get to that piece. Thank you.
Yeah, unfortunately the washer dryer hookups are put into some very hard to reach spots. Thanks for watching!
nice job and nice walkthrough!!! Hope ya'll are staying warm in the Utah
Thanks Mark! Not going to lie - its COLD here! Our rig is nice and warm though.
@@ProjectTrek that's cause you installed that daddy mack heater! you guys come to MI, we'll put one in mine too lol with your expertise
How about we wait till Summer for that? HAHA
@@ProjectTrek for sure lol!!! Mine is in "storage" until April anyways. Not quite to where you guys are yet. Goal = 1.5 years
Thank you so much!! I feel like they as well as other manufacturers make things like this to mess up so you'll have to spend money. 😠 😡 😠
So thankful I saw this video
Nice Vid. Hey did you ever try removing the screw without cutting a side panel? If so how??
Thanks! Our washer/dryer only has the rear access panel, nothing on the side.
Them some sharp edges
As I have fixed many washer dryers I would removed the top lid undo the top hose clamp and would of made it easier to get to bottom clamp and when refitting it face the screw head as it would be quicker for next time
My screw head was facing down, impossible to get to from the top.
We cut ours out right where you take of the hose. So now it runs straight out no more 90 s straight out. It helps out 500 %% now?
That’s a great idea! Wish I had thought of that before I drilled the exhaust vent.
I'm confused about what you cut? Did you remove that silly lint collection bladder thing?
Never liked the two in one.
How's it goin on the slopes?
It’s definitely slow and small, but I hate the laundromat more 😂.
The snowboarding is great! The kids are really getting good at it.
Thanks for checking in on us!
That pipe isn't very large. A flexible dryer vent brush might have been sufficient and a lot easier. Just scoop it out from the opening without needing to cut anything or remove the pipe. Alternatively off the top of my head, a vacuum attachment with some duct tape to seal could have worked as well.
Smartest comment here that no one will read or understand was by jwlindem1 about a year ago. The video lost me when the dude said “who uses duct tape nymore then proceeds to use laundry “duct tape”. If you believe that duct tape is different because it shows laundry then you deserve to pay more. We used duct tape in Vietnam to patch uh-1h helicopters in the field. I’ve had a 2100xc forever and splendid used to have a simple fix (if you’re lazy) that they used to publish and I still use as part of my monthly maintenance. Place selector to 12 and push start, let fill up until water stops, press start and power buttons simultaneously until all green lights light up then release (this resets the machine), press start again so more water fills the machine. After second fill reset machine again and turn to drain and restart. If there isn’t too much lint caught in the lower portion of that elbow or tube the water will flush it out. There are other maintenance items that should be followed in the manual. Lastly, instead of cutting holes in machines, whether under warranty or not, find 12/2 house wire, cut off about 1/2” of insulation, slightly bend the wires in three different directions, feed through hose and down tube, twist wire while pulling and pushing up and down then pull out carefully. If going through hose do this carefully so as to not tear hose.
Hi guys 👋👋👋 😳😳😳 that's some kinda of stuff to plug up your dryer.😲😲😲
Yeah, 4 long-hairs, plus a dog, it gets hairy up in here!
@@ProjectTrek Nate, you are so resourceful...👍👍 You guys look like your adjusting to the cold weather.🤔
If by “adjusting” you mean wearing 3 layers of clothing 24/7, then Yes! We’ve adjusted great! 😄
I used a vacuum and a air gun ..not need to remove all that stuff I don't even pull it out
that's awesome that worked for you!
remove the vent pipe the rubber elbow is right 90 degrees then down 6/8 inches then 90 degrees the bottom 90 is where lint builds up ...
@@johnnycat6652 yeah, I'd definitely need to remove the washer/dryer to get to all that. Not to mention, I don't carry an air gun with me on the road. Glad it worked for you though.
I really feel like I should stop watching at 2:09 when dude says "you're going to need a flat hand Phillips head bit". What the hell? Lmao
Flat AND Phillips.
It’s a real stretch, I know.
Maintenance is not an issue. It's an issue only when you're lazy.
Our machine is in the hall closet. There is no way to get it out. I suppose we could take the doors off the closet and bathroom and break our backs, lifting it up and over the bottom 4+" ledge on the bottom of the closet. NOT!
So how do you clean the lint out of the machine?
@Project Trek We're stumped... We need help. It's not drying our clothes, just heating them, so we hang everything (after an extra spin cycle). I watched videos on using 11 and 12, but I don't think it will help. I sure wish Splendide designed the clean out to be accessible from the top. Q: My hubby wants to try blowing air from an air compressor in the outside vent. Where would the lint go? ...in the drum, or just plug up that bladder-like lint trap in the back. Desperation makes people do silly things...
We did the 11×2/12/drain series 3 times and then used Affresh. A lot of slimy, stinky gunk came out, but no hair. I lose hair, and we have a cat, so I know there's hair somewhere. My hubby said, "Let's borrow our Dremel back." We will purchase a cover from HD first so we know how large to cut the hole. How big is your opening, and is there room to make it bigger if the cover we purchase is larger? It's in a perfect spot since the vent side is in a long closet. We can just remove the cat litter box and climb in the closet without moving the washer/dryer unit. I wonder if he'll still try the air compressor trick first? 🤔 Poor design...
It is poor design. I don’t know that I’d try blowing compressed air in towards the washer unit. That might make it worse. My question is, usually the trim on RVs is held in place by a few screws. Is it not possible to remove the 4” lip and pull the washer out? I only ask because that’s what I had before I remodeled our rig.
Next time remove the top instead of removing and cutting into e
Such a handy guy😁💌🚍
Gotta be! Hey do you mind if I use that footage of you and Robert in Quartzsite in an upcoming video?
@@ProjectTrek we would be honored 😁💌🚍
