- A tutorial on how to flush the drum with running water and clean the dryer for LG F1450DPRE washing machine and dryer combo.
1. A technician who previously serviced my machine showed me how to put running water into it while in the spin cycle to flush out lint from the machine. This was better than the normal tub clean cycle.
2. I also open up and clean the lint from the dryer. If your clothes still wet after using the dryer, it is probably because it is full of lint and hot air cannot pass through it. Cleaning the lint out will help improve drying efficiency.
Just a note, the filter mesh that protects lint from getting into my machine was damaged previously. It was full of lint and hard to remove so I had to cut it out.
*All the steps I have shown are not approved by LG. Do it at your own risk.

Many issues with these equipment’s appear after 3 to 4 years of use.The drying capabilities start to fall after some time (it is dependent on the number of times one uses the drying capabilities of the machine per year).
This problem is due to several issues some of them highly critical for the machine's lifespan:
1- The two temperature sensors (at the inlet and outlet) get covered in lint through time and as such give false readings throughout the drying operation;
2- The blower's fans get covered in lint and as a result, the airflow is highly reduced. Lint also gets stuck underneath the fan housing, increasing friction and reducing RPM, which can lead to a dead motor further down the road;
3- The lint auto-clean implemented system is highly inefficient as it does not wash all of the existing lint present in the auto-clean container;
4- The flowthrough pipe apparatus consists of two pieces, one bottom non-anodized aluminum and one top thin-steel bolted cover. These are two completely inappropriate materials for this application! It's like engineers don't have a clue about galvanic action between the aluminum and steel or galvanized parts which can lead to severe corrosion (Or perhaps they do!!! - programmed obsolescence rings a bell!?!?);
5- The bottom non-anodized piece design on the fan blower is incorrectly design as it has no inclination for water drainage and as such lint gets deposited and water gets accumulated speeding up the corrosion process;
6- The paint used on both the bottom and top parts of the flowthrough pipe apparatus (inner paint) is not suited for high-temperature applications and does not protect the parts from corrosion;
7- Although there is a sealant applied between both the top and bottom parts connectivity is achieved through attached bolts and corrosion is not prevented!!
The replacement of the top steel part for stainless steel or even for both parts would make this equipment have a much much higher lifespan!
But, as you all know profits wouldn't be as high!
I can tell you all of this because I've recently cleaned and fixed my LG washer and dryer machine.
Rust was removed and heat resisting paint was applied, highly recommend do to so.
Rust will definitely appear again due to galvanic corrosion, only choice is to use a less noble metal in direct contact with both metals (usually zinc is used for this type of protection), but perhaps next year when I clean it again to check it out, I will do it.
I find thats your finding is all correct, 2 in 1 machine was build with unavoidable design flaw compare to seperate machine. Detergent vapour or even excessive sud will enter the dryer section which make it even worst, lack of lint filter also contribute tu burn smell during drying when the lint wrap around the heater coil.
I also find the heavy corrosion on the ducting of dryer heater. It is cast aluminum, can we spray it with zinc spray to minimize the corrosion rate?
@@iskandarzulqarnain4521 It can be and effectice approach to the issue.
@@RuiSilvaPT So Is it better to get Normal Spin Dry WM in less price rather than Washer+Dryer for less hassle?
Where are these two temperature sensors (at the inlet and outlet) located on a LG 2022 combo machine?
My drying function is blowing air but it's not hot and I get a DHE error code. When I ran the troubleshooting, I was getting 28 and 228. Does that mean 28 degrees celsius and 228rpms?
The demo was very good, and detailed, thank you! Although if that is what you have to do twice a year buy another brand!
I absolutely HATE this LG washer dryer combo. This is not only a ridiculous waste of time to clean, but designed horribly and a fire trap!!!! My daughter had an LG Direct Drive Washer Dryer Combo unit. It refused to wash properly, was not draining well, clothes were dirty and dryer just kept going with zero drying. I brought my tools and did major surgery on it. I opened up the whole back, top, everything. I located the housing. I saw how bad it was - completely gummed up with lint. There was no way to clean it. Just a whopping mess. I closed it up and junked it. Never again. Get two separate units. When you have a vent-less dryer, this is the problem - it is always a lint trap issue.
By contrast, my LG Large Capacity Front Loading Washing Machine works flawlessly. The only 3 maintenance items are: clean out the lint trap at bottom, remove rubber gasket on door (see CZcams) and clean out lint in there and bleach out any mold, and every year, open top, remove the soap dispenser housing (looks like a distributor cap) and clean it in dishwasher or with hot water to remove all caked up soap. This soap may cause a water leak with time. Over time you may need a new gasket ring for the door. That's it. Works like a horse after that.
Great job! the demo is clear and explaining how to maintain the LG F1450DPRE is very detailed.
Excellent share, very detailed! ❤
Hello, thanks much for this video.!!!
Great video. 🙂
Thank you 🙏🏾 very much

Wow !!!
Thanks for this video !
Just got the LG Thin Q, so I hope cleaning it is the same.
Well, I didn't know that you had to get so involved as you were showing...
That fire Hazzard is creepy.
I'm gonna be doing that after every wash !
LOL
Mine as well leave the top off !
Hahahahahahaha
Geeeez...
Doing the first load of laundry right now, so we'll see how it goes.
Heard drying isn't that good, but we'll see...lol
Really appreciate the video !!!
Thank you !
:-)
@7:12 No! Your fan blade isn't stuck! You have to turn it clock-wise to loosen it! It twists on in opposite direction than you would with a normal screw! I got mine off no problem!
Great job!
Thank you. Hope it helped.
There is a vertical J shape duct under the heat fan to be cleaned,dont missed it,it was the most jammed part with lint
Is there a way to prevent this kind of lint buildup?
Hey, I didn't not know that lint would get caught in the fan like this. Thanks for the video.
Do you by any chance know what material the drum support spider in LGs washing machine is made of? My previous wahser/dryer used aluminum which was heavily corroded after just 5 years of use
Sorry, not sure what the material is made of. Looks like some sort of alloy.
@@luxent no worries thanks for the reply
Did you remove the mesh from under your fan? I've cleaned and tested everything and everything seems functional. The only thing I can think of is my fan goes but doesn't seem all that powerful I remember the fan used to sound more blowy. Would you say your fan sounds powerful? Also after a dry cycle is there usually any water left at all to drain out the bottom? Mine has a few cups worth of water
I removed the mesh because it was getting clogged with lint. The fan will eventually wear out and slow down. You can dissamble to clean it but it's just better to order a new one.
After dry cycle, there is water left in the drain capture area but not in the main drum. If you overload it (more than half the drum) then there will be some wet spots.
@@luxent thanks for replying I'm thinking new motor it used to come good after cleaning it but not this time
@@luxent How do you remove that mesh? I got as far as taking the top off and removing the blower fan, but I couldn't see how to remove the mesh and didn't want to disassemble without knowing, so I couldn't clean out the internals.
The good old dryer which blow air outside is safer. Isn't it?
Why do they circulate internal air for dryer. Which is lint heavy, air flow full of lint.
It doesn't makes sense when you see how much maintenance you will need to run the dryer safer from fire hazard.
Hi sir did have video for cleaning the bottom condenser?
Sorry, no.
Hiii finally I find somebody cleanin the same machine as mine , Do you by any chance know what is the function of this yellow-orange piece on the internal border of the door ? I would really apreciate to gent any info about
Hi sorry, I don't have the machine anymore.
I just purchased the smaller model, wish it came with a lint trap door for cleaning cuz this is way too much work
There is only a trap at the water outlet at the bottom unfortunately. So will require regular cleaning. Still, it saves a lot of time not having to transfer laundry from washing to dryer.
So is it better to get a normal WM rather than Washer dryer combo to avoid all these hassles?? I was stuck between SAMSUNG AI ECOBUBBLE WASHER DRYER and LG AI DD ONLY WASHER. Which should I choose?
I replaced this with a new Toshiba combo. I use a combo because of the small space in my Apartment and also because I can so my laundry overnight in one full cycle. Not familiar with the 2 machines, pick one with good warranty support.
this will also work for Samsung machines btw
My drying function is blowing air but it's not hot and I get a DHE error code. When I ran the troubleshooting, I was getting 28 and 228. Does that mean 28 degrees celsius and 228rpms?
Probably the heating element or the thermostat sensor is dead. Time to order new parts from LG. They sell it as a set when I changed mine. No option to buy it separately.
How long you have been using it up to this video? Does it still perform good?
I recently sold it. Was using it for almost 6 years. Bought a new machine.
@@luxent base on your experience, how it overall performance for wash and dry? Any complaint? What is your new washer dryer?
@@iskandarzulqarnain4521 it washed and dried well. Don't overload it beyond half tub. Downside is no lint trap so had to clean the lint frequently inside. I changed to Sharp machine. Had less features I didn't really use from LG.
@@luxent so how is your new sharp machine? Which model did you get? How does it perform compared to your previous lg? I was actually looking for sharp ESDK1054PMS, but could not find any review about it
@@iskandarzulqarnain4521 Sorry, gave you the wrong info. I got a Toshiba TWD-BJ120M4M. I like it, works very well and dries well.
Less drying function but it's okay as I didn't use all the fancy drying options from LG. Much more quieter compared to my LG.
My old LG had too many repairs as the shock absorber, motherboard was already not working. Had it repaired and gave it to relative to use.
For these type of washer/dryer machines - not recommended to use softener. It will clog up the machine eventually. Use a drying sheet instead. The dryer does a pretty good job if you dry it until 95% and don't overload. Clothes not crumpled and no need to iron.
Where is the mesh/net screen located?
Thanks!
It's right under the blower fan. You can't see it in the video because I had cut mine out.
@@luxent Why you had to cut it out? So basically if you still would have the mesh you wouldn't need to clean it right?
@@jacan3 it was torn and full of lint, so I cut it out.
@@luxent The video was very helpful. Thank you for sharing.
Nag o ON po ba yung drain pump kapag mag dryer ka sir? Or off lang sya lage?
The drain pump does turn on when the dryer is on.
@@luxent does it turn on and turn off or it's on all the time when drying? Sorry for the questions I'm troubleshooting my washer/dryer.
@@julietechotangohotelalphai1148 It doesn't turn on all the time. Only when there is water in it to drain during spin and drying.
LG have enought room to put a removable filter in between the fan and heat elements...why not to do it??
Not sure what is the design logic. Supposedly the lint is supposed to wash out but it doesn't happen.
@@luxent Maybe combined machines are designed to ensure a good washout of lint in case of less frequent use or the dryer.
In any case, I found the architecture of your LG really special! in fact they have eliminated the classic condenser pipe and the fan withdraws directly from the tube. even more unusual is the point where the water sprinklers act.
It gives the idea of being able to wet the laundry during the drying phase.
You have not shown vent channel. I guess it has no vent, thus anyway the lint will stay in, it seems to be a bad design.
This model doesn't have a vent channel. The blower fan is right over the drum. The connection between the fan and the drum does gather a lot of lint in it.
Yes, some LG models have this vertical vent channel on the back connecting the bottom of the drum to the blower vent. This channel is this weirdly shaped pipe with all sorts of crevises. First time I cleaned it, it was so full of lint that barely any air got past it. Removing it was a bit tricky, but now after multiple cleans, I can do it under an hour.
Can’t wait to move out and never see this washer again
You do this every 2 month? It is not worth buying lg washer drier then..
Every 2-3 months. Requires less cleaning now as I noticed less lint build up inside.
This will also destroy an rv
So messy. Looks like it will damage floors if u dnt hv something 2 catch the water
Yes, recommended to do it outdoor. I do this in my wet kitchen area where the water can flow freely.
all combo mfg are profiteers, combo additional cost would be $200 more they 3x it
