  • A quiet, easy-to-follow guide on how to fix your LG washing machine if clothes are still damp or wet after the drier has finished.
    Please let me know if this was useful for you by liking or commenting. It would be nice to know if it helps someone out.
    This video was originally just made as an “aide memoir” for myself. It is based on an LG series 8 machine. I am not a professional, just an ordinary guy who discovered how to fix this particular problem. Do this at your own risk. Bear in mind that tampering with your machine could affect any warranty you may have, but if that isn't a concern for you, then go for it - this repair is pretty easy, and only requires a few very basic tools.

    Just finished doing this entire process using your tutorial. Legitimately, right now. Found heaps of cloth particles in that compartment. Put it back together and am running a test wash now. Can’t imagine anything else causing problems from now on. Just want to say thank you for taking the time to make this. Very helpful. The only thing I would add, in my case, I used a set of hook picks to get the hose off once the clamp was off as it seemed to be fused to it, that took about 2 extra minutes. Thanks again, legend!

    Thank you! I live in the US where this type of washer/dryer combo is extremely rare and repair instructions even rarer. I don't own an LG but just the basic concept was enough to lead me down the right path of repair.

    Mine is a 2014 LG washer dryer.
    I saw another video where the guy said to just flush the rear vent channel without removing as per this video but I can say after removing the rear vent channel on mine it was absolutely clogged and would have caused a bigger issue had I not followed the instructions on this video.
    Thank you so much for the instructional video.... Top man !!

    I moved into a place in July that had this machine and it has never dried our clothes. I went home last night and followed this tutorial and guess what! All the clothes are dry!!! If I could attach pictures I would it was insane at the amount of gunk matted wet lint I found in this and at the bottom in the back! Thank you so much for the free fix! I’m pretty savvy when it comes to doing stuff like this and this was pretty easy. The hardest part was cleaning out the plastic piece in the hard to reach areas without long brushes or things to reach in that upper corner, however with an old metal coat hanger and a rag I figured it out! I can’t believe it worked so well!! Thanks for the fix

    Probably first time I’m commenting on a CZcams video! I have the exact unit that is in this video. Over the past year the dryer has gotten gradually worse. In recent times, even if I ran the clothes through a dry cycle three times, the clothes came out wet. I tried this video and it was spot on. The plastic container was completely clogged. Amazed it was working at all!
    I pulled out a a big ball worth of soggy fluff. I put it back together and it worked like new. Fantastic. Took me 50 minutes to clean and reassemble using an electric screwdriver with extension works well. The “difficult screw” can be reached easily by moving the tub by hand and accessing via plastic ring. Hardest part was putting the sensor back in, but can do by using a small flat head screwdriver carefully to get it back.
    Excellent video. Well done. Nice and simple. Thanks for adding this. It helped me out a lot.

      2nd time doing it. Hint... the blank sensor rubber slips off the sensor. Much easier putting it in when by itself!

    I felt it was my duty to leave a comment here because this worked perfectly to fix the drying issue in my washer/dryer.
    I have a slightly different model (WM3455HW), but this was close enough and easy to follow. I actually didn't even need to disconnect any wires (other than the sensor), I was able to just sort of fold the entire top apparatus to the side and pull the plastic vent out. Removed about a baseball or more of lint and now works as supposed to.
    I was a little reluctant to try this fix, it seemed pretty involved but its really not difficult at all just takes a little bit of time. Two hours is about right, start to finish. I'd also add, make sure you remember to reconnect the sensor and hose before you close back up. Once you get the vent put back in, its easy to over look. Thanks for the guide!

    After drying, the laundry was still wet, THIS WAS HELP ME: if I look at the washing machine from the front from the top, in the left part is a hose that leads to the drum of the washing machine (during drying it sprays on the outer wall of the drum and water condenses from drying), I remove this hose and cleaned the entrance to the washing machine drum (it was clogged and the water did not spray on the outer wall of the drum but directly on the laundry) and FIXED (LG F84J7TH1W)

For uncomfortable screw i just pushed the drum to the side. It worked amazing. However i am a rescue house with 5 cats, it lasted about 5 months before it stopped drying properly again 😖 this time just the white tube is clogged and i am thinking what else can i do to not do it every 6 months 🙄 other than that amazing video. Nice Video, this did resolve the issue with my machine not drying clothes properly. I also noticed on my machine that the heating element on the top has melted the top of the drum slightly and just under the front of the drum a crack had appeared :(
    For the awkward screw on the back, you can easily move the drum with a little pressure to get tit to line up with the existing hole (with the plastic plug) no need to drill a hole! Removal, cleaning and refitting took me under an hour.

    Is it really necessary to remove the plastic vent altogether? I just removed the top fan, then took a wire with velcro at the end and took out a ball of lint that looked like a small rat. Was able to take a few pics and the plastic vent is clean and unobstructed now.
    The machine still heats quite well, but I'm guessing there is a blockage somewhere else because clothes are warm but damp.

    • @FoxBox72
      @FoxBox72  Před 3 lety

      Cleaning the plastic duct in situ might work fine, but mine has got smaller narrow 'channels' in it, where the lint was quite compacted, and I couldn't get to all of it thoroughly whilst in the machine.

    Hi everyone, I just wanted to ask those that this fix has worked for, whether anyone had any error codes display or did the drying just suddenly stop being effective? I have the same issue - clothes suddenly damp /wet even after extremely long drying times. I contacted a repairman who is pretty insistent that if there was such a lint blockage that there would be an error code displayed, which there isn't (my model LG1248RDP). I don't want to suggest / attempt this fix if that is right. No-one has mentioned any error codes, so I am hopeful that this will be the appropriate fix for me. Great video FoxBox.

    • @FoxBox72
      @FoxBox72  Před 2 lety

      Hi, it's happened three times on our machine with no error codes (hence this video). The error codes I've seen tend to be related to blockages in the pump (at the front) not lint in the duct.

Mine after I removed the Vent i saw a little filter like the ones that Aircondition has that it wasn't really dirty or clogged and right under it was directly the laundry Bin. I could move it with my hand from there.. so while the black thingy produce heat..the vent works without any debris still inside the laundry bin there is not enough heat to dry my clothes.... also i noticed that my dry program stop early by alot and it on the cooldown mode... When it works above the washer is really hot like it should,but inside the laundry bin is not so much... maybe its a faulty thermostat on the dryer? something else?

    thank you so much, i might have the same issue, i just opened mine, could not pull the plastic vent out as mine have a screw that is placed is a very stupid way which definingly needs re-engineering, so i pressure wash it from top down letting the dirt come out of the plastic to the yard. tomorrow i will vacuum the leftovers. once it is dry and then re-install it.
    i believe this is caused not only by the cloths lint, the detergent has some part of it, my wife was complaining about it but did not really listen as i bought a good amount of it that lasted a year ;P and now i listen
    in fact mine had another issue which i believe the jammed dirt caused it which is the heater duct got rusted and broke, replaced it and let's see how it goes. i hope it works (if not, at least i enjoy cleaning it_

    Thinking of those plastic long things they have for drains etc...for flushing it all goes out the drain cycle ?

      Possibly, yes (?). It has some channels at the top that are too narrow for a snake, but some wire and a pressured hose might work. Worth a try.

    Hello, i hope someone here could answer my question, cause im going mad!!
    I have this lg combo 12/8 kg washer dryer, the wash function works perfectly, but the drying cycle makes me mad, i have tried ALL the programs even the timed on setting it to max drying time, i kept running the same (small) amount og clothes through all cycles, it took about 8 hours, and you know what, even after 8 freaking hours the clothes where STILL damp, not a lillte, but as damp as it has just been spun at 1600 rpm. Its like its kinda dries the clothes then wets them, but i sat and watched it for a couple of hours, but it doesnt fill water or anything other than the cold slow water intake that it uses for condensing at the back of the tub, i have disassembled the whole drying section and cleaned out everything, and i does operate "normal" heating and pumping out water whilst its filling a small amount of cold water as mentioned before, but when the program ends the clothes are as damp as when i started the drying cycle.. i had LG to look at it, complete waste of money, the technocian was very arrogant and said "theres nothing wrong, maybe you expect to much of your machine" and i was very furious and very mad when he left.!!
    To me it sound like something that i dont know of is clogged OR the main control board is faulty, because it gets exstremely hot, and it doesnt matter what cycle, even at "low heat" cycle it gets so hot that i start to worry about somethings melting or it catches fire..
    Does anyone here have any suggestions ? As i said my own theory is that theres a problem with the PCB. (Main control board)
    By the way im a appliance tech myself, but have very little experience with LG.
    Unfortunately

    Since you’re that far into the machine it’s best to pull the cover off the fan that you removed and clean out the hamster wheel a clean hamster wheel will increase circulation

    Kool video, one question - are these "Combo"machines suppose to have lint removal process, or is the vent it?

    • @steelplatedheart
      @steelplatedheart Před 4 lety

      they do have a lint removal process - there is a lint trap at the bottom of mine and also the lint is supposed to collect on a seal around the front door - but I rarely find lint in my lint trap and I suspect that over-filling the machine (in my case) or washing clothes with a lot of debris has exascerbated the issue to the point where the normal lint removal process is not able to fix it.

    I did every step and cleaned a lot of dirt but I got stuck reattaching the sensor

    • @FoxBox72
      @FoxBox72  Před 7 lety +2

      Are you still stuck ? I found the sensor can be a bit tough to get in and out and it takes a bit of 'wiggling', but it should just push back in through the black rubber washer. If you have pulled out the black rubber, don't worry - again with a bit of wiggling and stretching you should find it goes back okay. Let me know how it's going.

      Hello David, I have the same issue. Except that I didn't change the moisture sensor because I can't find where it is. Where you able to find out what the problem was? I know models vary, but can you tell me where the moisture sensor/s is located?

      Cal Sa you’d be surprised. The plastic duct narrows to a thin section - thin enough so even a small amount of fluff can stop it drying completely.

This is a new unit still pumping out damp clothes / not to mention my clothes have shrunk …unfortunately this is an air bNb so I’ll just get my laundry done at the laundry mat & pay extra
