    Pro tip for the skylight above the shower instead of dealing with your reflectix constantly falling bc the humidity ruins the adhesive take off the internal skylight cover and put the reflectix in there and put the cover back on. Made a world of difference for me

    A better tip would be to keep more food/drinks in your fridge because more cold mass will cause the fridge to work less once everything is cooled.

    Great info. Reflectix is the bomb! We found that our upper cabinets were radiating a lot of heat, so we lined them with reflectix. Made a Hugh difference.

      Everything I’ve seen says yes you can insulate the sides and top of the fridge. Just make sure you’re not blocking the vent.

    The problem with the soft start and the rv air flow, is that they are too expensive for what you get. The airflow is a piece of Styrofoam for $200 (you'll need two of those: one for each air conditioner) REDICULOUS! And the soft start is almost just a capacitor that will run you almost as much as the air conditioner itself. (Again, you will need two of them).

    • @HintonTheTrail
      @HintonTheTrail  Před 2 lety

      We've yet to meet anyone that has either one of these products who feel it was a ridiculous expense. Yep, you'll need an RV Airflow in each A/C that is "racetracked" to get the benefits, but you can put it in just one if you want. If you want to be able to run your a/c or a/c's on a generator, 30-amp, a residential 15-amp, or on a inverter/battery setup, you'll need a soft start. Buying another air conditioner won't solve the issue of not being able to start your current a/c's. Do you pay for these things. Yep. But you get what you pay for. We've used each of them for over a year and a half of full time rving, spent over 3-months in 100+ degree heat, boondocked in 80+ degree heat for 4 weeks, moochdocked (with the ability to run our a/c) for a week, and all because of these products. If they're not for you that's okay. RV the way you want. If you want better cooling capabilities and the ability to start and run your air conditioners in conditions you couldn't before then we highly recommend them.

    • @rustusandroid
      @rustusandroid Před 2 lety

      @@HintonTheTrail Well now you have. $200 for a piece of Styrofoam per air conditioner is a ridiculous expense.

    • @HintonTheTrail
      @HintonTheTrail  Před 2 lety

      We only needed one for our setup and the $189 that we paid increased the airflow throughout our RV by over 40%. The biggest change was in our sons bunkhouse which was a hotbox before we bought and installed the RV Airflow. The difference was night and day. So the piece of "foam" which is called EPS and is both temperature and water resistant and prevents mold and bacteria growth, has really impressed us. You can go down to the hardware store and get foam and tape and make your own. You just need to ensure you're getting the right foam or you could be blowing chemical agents and formaldehyde through your RV. There are some great videos out there to help you do so. The fact is, regardless of how you go about doing it, if you want the most out of your RV a/c's you'll need to do something. Buy an RV Airflow, or build your own (making sure you use the right products). Our goal is to help people make their travel and rv experience better.

    • @rustusandroid
      @rustusandroid Před 2 lety +1

      @@HintonTheTrail right. Well you can do the exact same thing with $10 worth of foam and tape. Examples all over the CZcams. I did this upgrade years ago to both units, and I agree it helps, my frustration is charging $200 for it. Rediculous. Not going to change my mind about that.
