how can you not like Lars after watching this, seems like a cool guy
He actually is, people hate him cause he sued a guy who was stolen music
Lars is awesome and a great drummer too. :)
From someone who doesn't know shit about Metallica, he seems like such a well-mannered guy! From reading what other people have said I get the backlash but as a person he seems nice.
They sued Napster because they didn't want people sharing an unfinished version of one of the songs from St. Anger, not because they care only about money.
I know someone who had a chance to hang out with all of them on the tour bus and he said that Lars was the nicest
Why does Lars look like a really experienced film director?
@el Guapo lol I agree
Lmao he really does.
His beard gives off Spielberg vibes
@Mr. MERCEDES 95 Dr. Dre sued too.
@Mr. MERCEDES 95 can't just hate one man. Lars was fighting not just for his gold plated ferrari but anyone's future gold plated ferrari
'''Remember: you heard it here first''
alright, from now on I love this guy
lolll love this guy
Wulbulbul Lubbubwublub best picture ever
Wulbulbul Lubbubwublub ::)
I met Lars Ulrich at a charity do before, he was surprisingly down to earth and VERY funny.
Haters would not believe you anyway. Guys in the band are really cool
Hi Limmy
I met him as well, randomly. He was nice.
Only fucking idiots buy into hating him, it’s pathetic, nobody is perfect, and they pick him to death.
He's not dead!
I haven't watched the video yet, but i really hope the bass tracks to and justice for all are in your bag, Lars.
Where's the remaster, lars.
With bass.
Lars.
Bro, look up "And Justice For Jason" and you're welcome :)
apparently the bass tracks on AJFA were just Jason following the root notes of the guitars so nothing really special there, but who knows?
@@wcnmvp3820 Jason's parts were different from James' and very special. That's a lie that James tells to protect Lars.
Seriously!!!
He should dig around in that bag, maybe he will find Kirks phone in there
Stefan Jankovic Or his talent... i think Dave might of grabbed that before leaving with his pants and riffs after banging Kirks girlfriend
NOOO. Too soon m8 lol
Stefan Jankovic haaad to be one you on here...
If he digs a little bit more, he will find the respect that Jason needed :^)
De si Srbendo!?
I'm proud for Lars most of all because that's the face of a man who is living his dream since his early 20's and still going strong. It's rare to see people who accomplished their dreams, so I hope each one of us make his dreams come true.
Amen!
I flagged this message for being too nice for CZcams comments
Thank you!!! All these little kids commenting about Napster & Metallica "sucking"... Are they kidding?! In the mid-80s, they were the ONLY thing playing wherever you went. Like 1985 til 1992.
Magma Mammoth Destiny is pre-programmed. Free will cannot achieve anything if it isn't your destiny
@@clockworkkate8143 Metallica wasn't playing on the radio in the 80s everywhere you idiot. They had tapes and we're mostly "underground". Until One came out and played on MTV ...then they sold out and became everyone else's bitches and money bags. Eventually many years later idiots like you will even spread misinformation about their band via CZcams comments.
i love his sense of humor, it's really mild and endearing, almost grandparentsy (even back in the 80s i'd say)
Never imagined Lars the bibliophile, the jazz guy, the John Woo fan….and a loving husband..thanks Amoeba.
Alright I give I can't hate on a guy this old and lovable
man unkind
LOL
Hey there, youngsters! You will be "old" too, faster than you can imagine. Maybe you should reserve your judgment of that age for when you get there yourself. I'm going to make a bet that you will be in for a rude awakening.
@@gracieb.3054 Spot on and funny as they also seem to have nothing to offer themselves, a ton of em out there
Getting to your mid 20s takes forever...then..whooosh!)
@@chrisscanlon3717 So if that's all you're really a poor soul.
that Scorpions Xmas card is incredible lol
I knew there was not a chance he wasn't including Deep Purple.
@JoshNortonalias it's a double negative
@JoshNortonalias yes but what he said was still a double negative, regardless of if you were being sarcastic or not
@JoshNortonalias ik
One the actual greatest bands of all time. No such thing as a weak musician in DP.
@JoshNortonalias you're awesome man i would love to meet you. bet it would be a great experience
Lars is into jazz?! Well he didn't let it influence his drumming.
you've got your Hakkes and your Ulrichs
check out his drumming on second half of suicide and redemption...
Sounds like he didn't let drumming influence his drumming
his drumming is influenced by a gas station toilet
jk hes not actually that bad
Any metal drummer of today that talk crap about Lars bad drum skills. Remember this, without him metal drumming would not be what it is today. That style of guitar and bass, lining up rhythmically with the drums came from Metallica. Others play double bass too, but he put it in the forefront and made it fashionable. Now every metal band does it. Megadeth had always had drummers that were way more technical than Lars. But Lars played what was best for the songs. His song arrangement ideas were superb. That's what makes a good musician. Not being able to blast beat at 300bpm.
Lars is a cool grandpa.
kalter000 nice photo
Looks like varg beard haha
I read the title "Lars Ulrich What's in my bag?" And my first thought was "Cocaine"
If that was in his bag, his drumming would go through the roof
@@mike285Yeah, if that were the case, perhaps he could play "Dyer's Eve" live again. 😂
@@brianf.8996 the entire set list of Seattle 89
His wife loves Radiohead and cats..she's perfect!!
.... and money :D
Lars is so open minded love him
LOL, Only if the subject he is "open" about is of a liberal mindset.... check out the dudes political views and comments.
Check out Jasons bass on ajfl
@@alabamahebrew what are his political views? I could not find anything related to that
Except when it comes to Napster.
radtech21 I hope you’re joking 😂
Best advertising ever. Everytime I watch an episode, I feel I could literally jump on plane, cross the ocean and get to the us just to get to shop into these stores. I mean it.
"Oh look, its the the bass track from ...And Justice For All"
(I love Lars)
I met Lars twice here in Denmark some years ago. He is a great guy.. Very humble and friendly.
I expected a bag of metallica CDs, DVDs, and Books. Well played
Metallica CD's ? You mean coasters?
he has such a soft, but deliberate way of speaking. speaking of cats its like he's purring.
Even in the 80s Lars and Co. had a pretty sophisticated taste in music, even just reading magazine interviews in that era those guys were rocking Ministry, Laibach, (and as evident on Garage Days), covered Killing Joke and the Misfits. I can even safely say they were a huge influence on me for seeking out alternative music, movies and literature when they would pipe up about that stuff back then.
Some people say Lars is "simple", but nothing could be further from the truth.
Forget about Lars, his wife is stunning and loves Radiohead, game over maaaaan.
Lars is such a cool guy. I've always loved this dude.
Perry Scinta me too
Napster?
TelevisedPork He was right about Napster.
@@maxotto9877 i havent heard any thing cool from him, opinions, statements or music, but thats pretty subjective, i know, and i dont hate nor thing about him or his band at all... its all good... to each his own. Killer Mike and Skinny Puppy strikes me as truely cool...
@@maxotto9877 I love all genres, I grew up on electronic music and metal from the age of 13 and forth, that was in 1988. I started with Iron Maiden, AC/DC and Metallica, because that was the most played and easily accessible, but quickly got tired of them all and moved on to Slayer, Motorhead, Black Sabbath, Sepultura, Lard, Hilt, Ministry, Suicidal Tendencies, Misfits, punk, death metal and especially industrial (bands and genres I still love today).
And I do love metal, but no, not Metallica and especially not their ballads and the black album, but too each his own, and no offence. I do know people who value Metallica.
And wasn´t there a guy from Mayhem showing of his fave records praising Beastie Boys Pauls Boutique? Another OG Norwegian black metal dude loves and produces techno... I truly think that most music lovers are open to more than one genre.
This is awesome. Love that he loves John Woo, this is so awesome!
Lars rich picked a Radiohead album
respect +100000000
Shitty band
Matt Melchin21 Radiohead made some good music. 👽😆
Radiohead was sickly popular at times, i liked their Kid A lp, but its defo not an odd pick, they were all over mtv etc.
@@CelestialWoodway very shitty band. i love lars though
Radiohead > Metallica
Dudes,he had a stroke. It changes people. He is just a softer, harder person than before.I love to see him smile
Lars looks a bit lit Varg Vikernes with that beard going on. Lol Idk
I was thinking the same lol
Larg Ulrickernes
It's funny how a dane with an american accent sounds like a norwegian with a french accent.
Ugh
both scandinavian
wow Lars has a really fine taste, or maybe we just have a lot in common. Great video!
That was the most likable version of Lars I've ever seen. He had many good and varied picks too.
Lars being able to talk about things he loves seems like him in his element.
That wasn't Metallica Lars, that was just Lars.
I don't care if he's not the best drummer but I still love this guy.. love ya Lars 😌
Lars is the best! He is such an amicable guy and is intelligent and hard working! Legend!
the snare drum on st.anger disagrees with u
@@enigmaticbeing666 It's definitely memorable! You can probably blame Bob Rock as well?
Lars's diction when he talks always gets me. He pronounces every word like it's art or something
*I hate how People make hate on Lars. He's a Badass drummer, he and his band changed the music history. We all know that, right? But I know, you can't call a guy a legend if he has no bashers or haters.*

Get a life and move on. Nothing you say about him will matter anyway.
I'm not mad mate. If I'm mad it'll be all CAPS. Just saying my opinion.
Johnny Unitas
Bruce, Lars and most liberals are highly intelligent - you're a fucking moronic sheep-minded Alex Jones-following Trumptard.
metallica ruined napster. ;O
Metallica(Lars Ulrich) - What's Under My Hat?
love him!
Heisen berg savage
a snare
No hair, thats for sure
Lars is awesome!! I love how cool and laid back he is
he's a great guy, very passionate about music
i expected this to suck but he actually picked some damn good stuff. Lords of Chaos especially.
Even the bands of the era/genre are calling it bullshit, and so far every band featured has refused to lend their music to the movie. Fenriz has been very outspoken on the issue.
+moremetalthanyou71 even Varg did a video about how much shit he thought it was. If you want anything good about it do check out him ranting about the scene. Or watch Pure Fucking Mayhem and Until the Light Takes Us with the deleted scenes.
horrible book, inaccurate about many things. if you don't trust me just ask all of the norwegian black metal musicians from that time, especially the members of darkthrone and mayhem
czcams.com/video/MtkHUJ0gRM0/video.html
Baltzeg Fenriz should try and put out a descent CD....hasnt in 15 years
It's adorable how Lars kept making the girl behind the camera laugh.
I am not a Metallica fan nor metal fan by far...but I always liked Lars and the other members...music is global has no boundaries...
You may not like him, but at least Lars went upstairs. Better than can be said about most of these What's in my Bags.
Also good taste in movies.
Lars is extremely likable and well educated person. He knows his shit.
everyone has an uncle that looks like lars
Hah! So true!
.....Im not white
Everybody that's white lol
That touches them...
Perry Scinta sad but true
That's my guy! After all of these years, he is still one ultra badass brother.
I know this isn't new by any means, but it is so cool to see Lars joking around. It seemed like they always portrayed him as a serious, angry guy all the time in any of the Metallica documentaries out there.
Why didnt he pick up an intro book on basic drumming skills?
Just a shot in the dark, but maybe because he's been a drummer for longer than you've even been alive, in one of the most successful rock/metal bands of all time?
GOTT EM
bc he's already a drum legend
DefenestratedMessiah
NOTHING wrong with learning drums correctly.
love you man, you rekt his ass hahahaha
why the hate for Lars?
Thelegend27 because it's a trend
He's lazy and he's admitted it even himself.
Thelegend27 it started with Napster
Cause he's lazy and doesn't practice. He even said so himself that he doesn't practice anymore, so he basically has no respect for drumming.
Many musicians don't practice very much once they reach a pro level. What's the point, anyway? Do you really think that Metallica would sell more albums and concert tickets if Lars had more technical skill and chops? Highly doubtful.
What's really cool is that Amoeba waited until January to post this, you know, since he bought all those Christmas presents for his wife. ^_^
Lars is fucking awesome. Huge appreciator and supporter of the arts. This was immensely enjoyable... thank you!
Id would shit a brick if i was strolling thru Amoeba and saw Lars.
tleeg74 who cares
Music and life um....you do.
I swear you would only say hi lars your drumming is really cool. Can you sign this book for me PLEASE?
I didn't know Lars liked the Beatles
Dyler well I know that James likes them but I never thought that Lars did for some reason.
I'm honestly more surprised by the fact he likes Radiohead
James actually hated the Beatles. He said he hated the "happy shit"
Renier Suyot, he was probably just in a bad mood that day.
He mentioned Let It Be movie in one of the 2004 interview so.. he likes them
Just ordered the Bukowski cat book. Hardcover. Didn't know it existed. So excited!
Lars so chill, as always. Would love to meet him
wow great work amoeba
WE WANT A A NEW EPISODE OF WHAT´S IN MY BAG WITH DAVE MUSTAINE PLEASE!!
Plot twist: he has 8 copies of St. Anger in his bag.
More like 8 copies of the Bible
Bibles, collection of greatest hymns, book about church organs and Stryker albums. Bless ya Dave.
Stop, he doesn't have money for shopping!
probably be just herion in the bag
Kerry King what's in my bag: Slayer albums
Lars just seems like a really lovely person.
Oh my God! Like myself, Lars is a fan of John Woo and Hong Kong Action Cinema. Who would have thought? :)
@Gregory Frowendown yeah sarcasm I see it in you. Thanks for making us great again
"What's in my bag ?"
.... "a sandwich"
lars is such a sympathetic guy! gotta love this dude. like a brother to me
I wish Cliff Burton was still alive. I would’ve loved to see an Amoeba episode with him going over Misfits and everything in between.
He also looked at Radiohead's Amnesiac :D
Lars is a fucking legend.
Lars loves Radiohead. Now im satisfied i made right choices in my life
Very interesting... Tells a lot of his inspirations and things that he really value. But I still miss some CDs of newer rock&metal bands in his bag.
He hasn't stopped wearing that Roots shirt since they were on the Tonight Show
Lars looks like he just sat through Metallica's collaboration with Lou Reed, "Lulu" without a break.
Odd seeing the artist we grew up with wearing reading glasses. Time flies when the music is great
HAAAA!!!! That Christmas card with Rudolf Schenker & (Santa) Klaus Meinke is *RIIIIDICULOUS* 😂😂😂
metal artists seem so unapproachable and crazy when on stage but they're so chill when interviewed
Kinda baffles me, every metal musician in this series looks like an eclectic music taste person, they get jazz, punk, electro, even pop stuff and are always like this chill dudes that just enjoy what they want while a Big chink of the metalhead community are elitists preachy gatekeeper cunts.
1:21 "My wife, who is 3 foot taller than me, Is a bit of cat fanatic".
beano1eye His wife is a model and fucking hot!
and your point is?

Look out the Lars fanboys are out!
Oh, man that King Diamond Xmas card. Love it. All hail the king \m/
I allways looked up to Lars!No i dont play drums but because he's a business and musical genius!!*Respect

Lars Urlich knows about the existence of Graz. as somebody, who's lives near and loves Graz, i am happy.
I never knew that Deep Purple had a gig in Graz once. Pretty cool
Nice LaserDisc reference! Too bad he didn't pick up any sweet used LDs!
this comment is about lars being a bad drummer
Nicky P. like every hater that follows the trend
love him but he's average af.
Zachary Trent he still good
Yea he is terrible. That's why he's been professional for 4 decades. STFU
Alan Lloyd still trash dude
i used to listen to my mothers springsteen cassettes at 1.5xspeed when i was a kid, had to hold in the fast forward button lol. Then i discovered punk music and eventually simmilarly fast music like thrash/extreme metal and hardcore EDM
3:48 Greetings from GRAZ, AT - and Deep Purple is coming back in three months!
Legend
Love Lars, always did 🤘. Such a curious mind.
Amazing!! Very interesting interview!! Lars still gorgeous!! You're fine man!! Always a great!! Love and respect!! Thanks for sharing!!
Saw Lars and thought, damn he's getting old. Then saw that this video is from SEVEN YEARS AGO!!! 😂
the fuckn john woo movies.... good guy
He's always had good taste in music
Sooo after I watched this video, I checked out that Beatles group he was talking about. Holy cow those guys are going places!
Lords of Chaos is a badass book! I read it in high school (somewhere around 1999?) and it was such a crazy ride.
Didn't know Lars asked Lars to write a song for Nymphomaniac. Cool!
Funny, Nymphomaniac stars his ex, Connie Nielsen!
"George has the sexy eyelashes, Ringo has the sexy nose, that one" I'll be saying that all day now
You know what you won't find in this man's bag? Bass.
Love the John woo flicks
"He has a very cool first name by the way" lol
great!!! amoeba is awesome!!!
Thanks!
Cool! I like this series...
John Woo, man, Lars you and me gotta have a movie night cuz you have some damn good taste.
