- Today we are making my gorgeous DIY bathroom vanity, from start to (almost) finish!! We are starting with a piece of wood and turning it into something beautiful with my handmade vessel sink! The finishing touches on my fixer upper house renovation are the most exciting!!
Hey there! My name is Abby and I recently bought a MAJOR fixer upper house. I am SO excited to work on fixing it up this old house and turning it into my dream home. I can't wait to take you on this journey with me! I am planning to DIY as much as I can and learn so much about home renovations along the way. I am starting out totally clueless so I am sure it will be a grand adventure! "Ok guys...Look at this.., Let's not freak out.". Ah ha😅 I love these little saying you come up with. I really think it's neat how you built the 2 shelves into the wall , this is special or custom. Your vision design and implementation are or always impressive. Your Dad was graceful to take a short shelf out of a live edge table! Big bucks, only the best for his daughter. Nice work, my w.w. instructor used to say worm holes are natural and later my boss would say planer marks and milling marks are natural, but yeah, sometimes that perfectly clean wood look is nice too, it's about time is money also. Labor cost. What else..you continue to inspire me and us. Your really good at knocking out those drywall cuts, I see how your Dad has influenced your work, both completion oriented and great vision. Yes, your paint can be of a sealing nature and your sealing caulk will finish it nicely a damp rag and your finger makes the perfect radius with the caulk, keep. A few paper towels handy, it is slick and you will enjoy it. Lastly, regarding cracks and caulk, my other boss used to say "don't worry John, I have 1/2" puddy". We used to take a small container (1 ounce ea.) or light puddy and one of dark puddy, same product, then blend to color match, and you could not see the brad nail holes filled. Put your 1st coat of varnish on, then puddy then put coat 2 and 3 on of varnish, because if you puddy after the stain you will bleed the stain and it shows up icky, so puddy after 1 st sealing coat. From the heart, I hope that makes sense. Love from Alaska.

Abby, I want to take a minute to address something with you. I enjoy watching home renovations and that type of content. There is a LOT of it on youtube. But I don't subscribe to most of it. The reason I subscribe to your channel is because you are always positive and upbeat. Listen I know in the two years you've been doing this there have to have been setbacks and frustrations and things that didn't go right. But I've never seen you complain. You seem to have a never-ending supply of smiles and excitement and for myself when I'm having a tough day your "hello friends!" and genuine smile seems to make things better. I am here cheering you on for every completed project every step of the way. I sincerely look forward to seeing you someday complete the house and be living there. I want to see you just sit for a minute looking out the bay window or making breakfast in the kitchen or enjoying the garden full of flowers without the distraction of thinking there is more to do. You deserve the satisfaction and pride in all your hard work. THANK YOU! to you and Jay and the whole team that keeps this job running.

Great design idea for the sink. Does anyone else see ET's face on the bottom shelf? The sink is incredible. So glad the holes on the front of the top shelf weren't filled. Coming along great.

The vanity is looking awesome!! Any thoughts on topping the divide and shelf next to toilet with a stained wood ledge? Maybe even the long shelf spanning the room with the stained wood shelf as well. Just a thought 🤔. The wood is so stunning, why not showcase it? You're doing an amazing job!!! Keep up the good work 😄.

Pretty progress!! Love it! I thought at first it didn't fit the aesthic of the home..but I am sure once it's finished it will all be cohesive. It is looking very modern. Great job!

My wife and I LOL'd at your jacket from when you were staining the wood to when you were fitting it into the bathroom.
I had to laugh, also. She's been putting in some hard core work.
Abi maybe you could line out the framing on the toilet side to make room for toilet rolls and toilet brush and cleaning supplies for your bathroom! You could make a little curtain to put in front of it the lined out part if you don’t have room for doors . That would look in keeping with house.

Abby, take some of that sawdust and mix it with clear wood putty, put in that worm hole and when it dries, and sanded, you won't even see the worm hole!

PG here, wonderfulcleanup video. It really helps. You may want to cover everything you can when you are sanding the walls down. The dust will get every where. I've gone to good will and got some old sheets, curtains, sheer,s etc. Try to keep the windows clean. and the radiators.

Nice look. Consider tile around sink and on top of the half wall. Horizontal sheetrock will be a nightmare to keep dry.

Hey Abby, it looks really good! Be sure to polyurethane even the sides so moisture doesn't seep into the board and warp it. Especially for a bathroom environment.

A matching board on top of the half wall would make it look more finished. Router out the bottom of the board to give the half wall a "lid" and then screw it in or glue it on the half wall. I love the sink set up and the stain finish on it. Can't wait to see it done!

Abby, love the look of the new sink and vanity. The whole issue you might have with sink is water splashing out.. The flat vessel sinks are good for that... Foam brushes are good for stain also... no bristles to remove. LOL

So you use your garage freezer for a work table too! I brought in our garage a small table that my husband could use for his work atea to get to the frozen food in my freezer. That work table is full!! But we're trying very hard not to put stuff on the little freezer, LOL!😊
