Today's Tutorial Information:
▶ Technique: Ring Pour
▶ Canvas size: 12x12 inches
▶ Pouring Medium formula: My paints are mixed with a Pouring Medium for all techniques unless otherwise stated in the video. The ratio I use is 1:3:1 Paint/Medium/Water. I use Floetrol/Owatrol for my medium. For those creations that I use water only (again I will say so in the video so please watch the full video for more details) Water only creations use the ratio of 1:1 paint to water.

Amsterdam: Lamp Black, Titanium White, Bronze,
Pebeo: Copper, Silver, Gold

Love these colors. This piece reminds me of the caves in New Mexico & Arizona. The sandstone colors. The way the "wavey lines", if you wil, form over the centuries. Beautiful piece.

Glad you think so! Thank you 🤩
Hello Mark!! 🥰 J'espère que tu es en pleine forme pour continuer à créer de magnifiques oeuvres. 🎉🎉
J'ai tellement apprécié la tasse avec ses magnifiques couches de couleurs. Le ring pour is sooooo gorgeous !! WOW!!
Beau challenge que tu as relevé Mark !! 🥰❤❤
J'ai hésité dans mon choix de toile, je dirais que mon coeur balance entre ton dutch pour sur fond bleu et ce magnifique ring pour. 💞💗💞
Je te souhaite un beau week-end cher Mark!! 🤗
Aww thank you Caroline. You’re always so kind with your comments, thank you 🤩
Lovely ❤
Thank you 🤩
Nice one! ❤
Thank you! 😊
When I first started painting, I loved matallic paints. I did one just recently and have yet to see the dry results. I watched how you did the ring piur and again learned from you. I love how this one turned out and Im sure when you varnish it, it will really stand out. Always look forward to your creations!
Thank you Ramona. Hope all is better with you 🤩
Very cool. I was tilting my iPad too! ❤
Thanks for helping haha 😛
Very Beautiful! I Love All The Colors. I Enjoy Watching U Create Each Piece. Are U Planning On Showing All The Metallic pieces side by side ? Great Video As Usual.
Thank you - I will defo do a short video or photo of all of them together 🤩
❤
I am loving your entire Metallic Series! I have to say this is my favorite. It may be very close to being one of my favorites of all your creations. I would love to see that on a 20x20! As always, thank you for sharing all the details. Denise ❤
Wow, thank you! I appreciate you always watching Denise.x
It reminds me of a dry river bed on Mars.
Interesting - I love your interpretation
Love your pour mark . I’m a newbie to trying this wonderful hobbie . I’m getting better but it’s very slow , such a lot to learn , mixing paints etc . Love your creations this is my first time commenting too xxx
Lots to learn but it will come in time. I’ve been doing it for approx 4 years now 🤩
Wow, the depth of this piece is amazing. The design reminds me of a sandstone formation. It's very beautiful. Still, what a pity that you lost the swarm of little fish from before you started to stretch out the paint. For the pieces where you're sad to lose a pretty design, you may think about starting to think about experimenting with spinning the canvas...
I like all the pieces of your metallic series so far. The one you created with the cookie cutter is my favourite. I'm curious about the next one 🖒💖
Thank you so much! I wonder if your favourite will change 🤩
@@MarkJRatcliffeArt me too 😊
Wow! Fantastic! At first it looked very much like an old tree with its many rings, then it changed to almost a tiger with its amazing colors jumping out at one, now, it defiantly looks like an Ariel view over, I‘m not sure, deserts, sand dunes or even Mountains, from very very high up. Everyone has mentioned what I also see or feel, the earthiness, warm nature - it’s stunning, absolutely! These Metallics are just awesome, each and every one of them. I‘m in love with this one and your Cosmic one - both my favorites.
I want to give them both a go - I am just waiting for my crumpet ring forms to turn up. I don’t have any Rosé Gold though 🙁.
This one would look fantastic on a larger canvas as well I think🤔. Mark, do you prime your canvases first for pours, or is it not necessary?
I have done some smaller pours, also on mirrors - the colors are so beautiful when varnished!
I love how you take your time while doing the pours / everyone seems to hurry, but it is not so necessary- you take such care not to spoil what you have that you like when possible. I like that - you are really loving what you have and that’s what it’s all about. Having fun and loving what one does! Thank you Mark! You have a quiet and easy go way character which is also very relaxing - I think you teach more than you realize - greatly appreciated!
Lynda🧚🏼♀️💕
Wow!! Thank you so so much for your kind and thoughtful comment. I don’t prime or prepare my canvases in anyway because I buy them already primed (they usually have 2 or 3 coats of gesso already when you buy them). Thanks again so much 🤩
This is really beautiful. I want to do something like this and put resin over it. But this is all new to me. How do dry the canvases and make sure no dust etc get on it whilst drying?
Thank you. I just leave them to dry naturally at room temperature 🤩
What would happen if you didn’t use so much paint? Would you end with being able to keep more of the design?
With this type of technique it’s about really stretching it. You could use less paint but that might limit it’s flexibility- I do scoop all the excess up and use as a flow extender 👍🏻
And a seal
I can see a meercat
Aww really?! Fab 🤩🤩🤩
I see a brow Labrador see if you can find it
Thank you 🤩 I can find the seal too
Buongiorno Mark, intanto complimenti! Posso sapere le consistenze? Non parlo inglese e guardo solo il video😢 Grazie se risponderà
Thank you. I used 1:3 paint to pouring medium here 👍🏻
Grazie 🙏 ❤️
👍🇺🇦
🤩🤩🤩
What a shame you had to stretch it out 😞 but the finished canvas was fab!
Thank you - I know right? It was one of those moments where I just didn’t want to stretch it
☺️☺️☺️
