- Today I wanted to do something unique and different to what I have done before when using my embroidery hoops. Using different techniques has really given this piece a 3D effect, what do you think?

Today's Tutorial Information:
▶ Technique: Ring Pour and Swipe
▶ Canvas size: 20x20 inches
▶ Pouring Medium formula: My paints are mixed with a Pouring Medium for all techniques unless otherwise stated in the video. The ratio I use is 1:3:1 Paint/Medium/Water. I use Floetrol/Owatrol for my medium. For those creations that I use water only (again I will say so in the video so please watch the full video for more details) Water only creations use the ratio of 1:1 paint to water.
▶ Color Palette:
Ring Pour is Lamp Black and Titanium White by Amsterdam.
For the swipe it is Pebeo - Precious Gold, Turquoise Blue.

This one had me so intrigued! I watched part of it & had to pause it. Didn't have time finish it til 9:30 pm. It's very different that any I've seen u do. I loved the beginning pour it was so 3D & the way u tilted it out. It was awesome just that way. But after watching the entire video it really turned out so unique. Almost like looking thru palm leaves at a zebra. It's cool.. love it as usual. Great job Mark.

Thanks for watching Linda 🤩
I want to try red, orange and golden around the ring. Love this too
Have fun! I bet that would look amazing!! ❤️🧡💛
Love the background. Another idea would be your pearl paints around the rings ❤
Yes! Thank you! 🤩
Sehr interessant, sehr aufregend, gutes Bild, Mark!🧡💛💚💙
Thank you so much Margaret 🤩
The way you poured was genius. The dry work is very good and I really like the 3D you mention. Very exciting well done 😊
Thank you very much! 🙏🤩
This would be a cool technique and design to do with the pearl paints.
Yeah great idea 👍🏻
Mark. it looks wonderful, I always wonder how it will turn out but Wella, nailed it again! Take care
Thanks 👍
Very cool technique Mark Love from NB Canada!
Thanks for watching! I always appreciate your support Brenda
Ohhhh Mark..I love this so much..
I so enjoyed the ring pour and the background is very cool..
Beautiful colours ❤😊
Yay!!! Cheryl - I’m so pleased you enjoyed this one 🤩🤩🤩
At the end of the ring pour it had a very 3D effect.
It did didn’t it - I’m going to try and recreate it
Please do try to recreate; while I liked your end result of this piece, I actually liked the original incredible 3 d effect in the beginning more :) Beautiful work.@@MarkJRatcliffeArt
Ohhhhh cool!!! I don’t usually like animal prints but the zebra vibes are amazing. I am going to have get some hoops. ❤❤❤
You should! Have fun 🤩
Very different!! Reminds me of beautiful zebras!! 🦓 Thanks Mark! Have a great day.😊💖
Thank you Judy. It was great to create and I want to do more x
A fascinating color palette. The 3-d effect is very clear. I also noticed as you were doing the ring pour the thee mounds looked higher up off the canvas, than they really were - the 3-d effect. Very cool and well done Mark !
Oh thank you! I always appreciate your support and kind words
I was a bit skeptical at first but it did turn out nice. I think of I were to do it I would use a soft yellow instead of the gold and cover all of the black and white outside of the rings.
The initial split cup pour was amazing! It was sooo 3D!
Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much. I have so many idea from this too which I’m going to explore
Lovely color combination! You have created a magical piece of art!
With a friendly smile, Mr. Hi! :)
Thank you so much 😀
@@MarkJRatcliffeArt You are welcome! Keep creating your beauty! You are talent!
Wow Mark, this is something completely else and it was very exciting to watch. Your creativity is absolutely priceless. I hope you'll never run out of great new ideas. What an awesome result! Great job with these zebra sunflowers. I'm already looking forward to watching you create the other ideas you already have 🖒💖
Thank you so much - I already have so many ideas going around my mind
So creative! It would be pretty in brighter iridescent colors, with the black and white. Pigments maybe? Or, in lieu of the black and white, the Amsterdam Pearl paints, wrecked slightly within the hoops? You are right... so many possibilities!😊
Thank you so much Kelli. I have so many ideas and hopefully people will enjoy them x
I like this, but what about if you did the hoops like you did, then use black and white outside of the hoops with a blow out ? Just a thought. Love your paintings !!!
Great ideas - soooo many possibilities 🤩
This is so innovative!! I could see doing this to look like sunflowers!! I may have to try that!! Thank you again for the inspiration. This came out so great. Very 3D! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching and for your kind words 🤩
Wow!!! I love the colors and the composition. I do have a question though, at the timer 2:29 on my screen it looks like a tornado is growing out of the canvas. If you had stopped at that point, could you make a picture of just that? Or, would the paint start to spread and ruin that effect? That really fascinates me, as I am not familiar with the split cup and I could see just that portion on a smaller canvas if it didn't spread out. Thanks for any info you can provide. I hope I am explaining myself properly. As always, your artwork is amazing!! Denise ❤
Thanks Denise. You could stop there but it would already out a bit on the canvas with no paint plus it’s likely to split when drying as too much paint in one area 🤩
@@MarkJRatcliffeArt Thank you. It just looked so interesting that I had to ask. Again, thanks for the info. Denise ❤
Loving your channel mark as a newbie! But I am confused in previous videos
You say your pouring medium is glue and water combo but then you also use floetrol as a pouring medium could you clarify what you use when please many thanks
Thank you Lorraine. No problem. Check out the video description for each video as I list in there what I’m using. I did a video to show how you can mix you’re own PM (glue and water) and for a lot of my recent stuff I’m using Owatrol/Floetrol as my PM - hope that clarifies. And I hope you’re having so much fun with fluid art
Thank you will have fun experimenting x
This is a very cool technique but, for me, too gray and almost muddy at the ends. Could you have stopped seiping earlier to avoid that?
Yeah maybe. The muddy bit is grey with the black and white mixed but there is some shimmer too. Next time I think I’d scrape off the excess black and white maybe?
What you get when you cross a zebra with a sunflower.
🤩🤩🤩
