Today's Tutorial Information:
▶ Technique: Brush Work and Dry Dutch Pour
▶ Pouring Medium formula: My paints are mixed with just water! Yes that's right... only a paint and water mixture. It's a 1:1 ratio - and I can do that because I'm using good quality paints with a good binder.
▶ Color Palette:
Amsterdam - pyrrole red, vermillion, nickel titan yellow, permanent green deep, brilliant blue, ultramarine violet. titanium white, lamp black.
Daler Rowney: Indigo
▶ Hair dryer: When I use a hair dryer I use the Remington D3010 and always use the cool setting and the lowest blow speed.

Lovely Mark 😜
Thanks so much 🤩
Wow Mark this is amazing❤
Glad you think so! Thank you so much ☺️
Wow, this is soooo fresh and happy 😊
Congrats on no cracks in the middle. You did a great job on everything 🖒💖
PS: I must say that I liked the design with the black on top (after you blew out the first time) a lot, too. If I were you, I may have created a series of three: one with the design after the first blow out, one like the end result of this piece and one where I would have wrecked the last puddle with a little stick, drawing lines from the centre to each corner.
Thank you as always Michaela for new ideas and concepts
@@MarkJRatcliffeArt you're welcome, Mark. It's such fun to watch you create 💚

Do have change the day for put the tuto on your channel? Maybe I miss this information. 🤔🤩
Thank you so much! I’m trying some different times but primarily Monday and Thursday 🤩
Muito lindo!
Thank you 🤩
Wondering why you tape the sides? Do u leave the sides unpainted? Thanks for all ur videos. Love them.
Thank you. For this one I actually painted the sides gold! I’ll post some final pictures 🤩
Morning Mark, for this piece you saud it was paint just with water. Is that standard acrylic watered down or a pouring paint with pm added with a little extra water please? Thanks Genette
Morning 🌅 Yes just standard acrylic out of a tube with water (no pouring medium) 👍🏻 I don’t usually buy premixed paints as I don’t know what’s in them when they are liquid
Ps do u have a paint mixing video for consistency? I can't make my puddle move with the hairdryer? Thx Mark ❤
I think I need to make a new one but there is a paint mixing video on my CZcams 👍🏻 try with 1:3 ratio and a little water
@@MarkJRatcliffeArt Thanks a million Mark, I will check it out 🙂
Hi Mark. I’m systematically working my way through your videos and loving them. I’m new to fluid art so I’m picking up some great tips and ideas from you. I wanted to ask you something. You use Australian Floetrol in a number of your videos but I’m finding it impossible to find here in the UK. Is there an equivalent you would recommend that’s easily available in the UK? I tend to use Amazon and eBay but open to suggestions. Thank you once again and keep on pouring and posting! Gary
Hi Gary! Thanks so much for your kind words of support and encouragement to me. I buy Australian Floetrol direct from Australian from the Wholesale Paint Group; I know postage is pricey BUT as we only use a small amount each time ohs latest me a year or so. You can also use silicone to get cells or maybe even Rustins pre stain wood conditioner (Australian Floetrol is also a stain conditioner which is why it creates such lovely cells and lacing). Hope that helps 👍🏻
Thank you so much Mark I’ll have a look at the wholesale paint website. Thanks for your help, and don’t forget to, keep on pouring and posting! Gary
Hi Mark. Just my luck, I’ve checked the wholesale paint website and they are out of stock. However I’ve found some uk stock of Flood and Owatrol. Do you have any experience or preferences of those? Also depending on your recommendation what are the mixing ratios? Sorry for bombarding you with questions. Gary
So Australian Floetrol will make your cells and lacing as that is used as cell activator (its not a pouring medium). It's totally different to Flood Floetrol and Owatrol Floetrol (they are different companies and manufacturers). In the UK I use Owatrol Floetrol as my pouring medium (this wont make the lacing) and I use 1:3. The Flood Floetrol is the US version and again is used as a PM. Be careful when purchasing from UK sites unless they are official like Owatrol UK, The Paint Shed etc. Avoid amazon and ebay as there are a lot of scammers selling fake ingredients.
Thanks again Mark for all your help. As a newbie I guess what I’m looking for is your recommendation on what to use as a cell activator? For example to swipe over a pour with a pallet knife to create lacing and cells as I’ve seen you do in your videos and lastly what is the mixing ratio you recommend? Sorry to be such a pain with all my questions and thank you once again. Gary
