The one video that actually makes it so easy to build a reef tank
Love the setup. Looking forward to seeing the tank move along. Thanks for showing that you dont need thousands of dollars to get a reef tank going.
Thanks! Really appreciate it! You can even start CHEAPER if you buy used! I try to keep things fun and simple and down to earth on this channel! WELCOME TO THE BLUE REEFERS! 💙🐠
New subscriber finally a good CZcamsr who shows from the beginning
Thank you so much for those kind words and welcome to the Blue Reefers! 💙🐠💙🐠
And she linked the equipment in the description. 🔥🔥🔥
Remember
Rock first
Sand second
When you do sand first you risk instability in your reef tank. Instability=rock avalanche & when you got 100’s of dollars in your corals instability isn’t something to mess with.
Also those fluval hydro meters are extremely inaccurate
You can get a cheap refractometer on eBay,Craigslist, market place for 10$ around the same price as the hydrometer & go to your lfs & get the calibration solution.
If you’re gonna do a reef tank you’re gonna need accuracy.
Love it. Thanks.
Good to see a female reefer and budget-friendly tank. A couple of tips - glue all you rock together with thick super-glue. Trust me I didn't and it's a pain! It's also best to put the rock in before the sand. As for aqua-scaping look up the rule of thirds - it's a photography thing.
Congrats on the new tank build.
Thanks Paul! 😄 The excitement is REAL! 💙🐠
This has been the most helpful video i have seen for smaller tanks. Thank you ..
Glad it was helpful, thanks for watching!
Helpful video and your personality makes it fun and entertaining! Subscribed, thanks and keep it up!
Nice Budget build. I was looking for something like this just for my overflow of leathers that have over taken my main display tank.
Hey I set up a reef tank with the same exact 20 gallon long tank that you have but I decided to de-rim it. It looks super clean!
Thank you for making this video. I am hoping to get a saltwater tank once we move and I like the size of the 20 gallon a lot.
That came along nicely for a budget build. Rock scaping is always the hardest. I have spent days working on scapes before I decide if that's what I like. Sometimes I even buy more rock for different pieces lol. I will be going to macna. Don't know if you live close enough or going to Orlando.
YES! I'm 2 hours away... I'll be at MACNA on Saturday! Hope to see you there! I'll be the one in BLUE! 💙🤣 Also, keep an eye on the rock scape, I'm 1000% sure it will ever be changing! 😫Thanks for watching! 💙🐠
@@BlueDamsel I'm going Friday and then saturday and possibly Sunday. Don't know what I'm wearing yet🤣. Check out stax rocks you can do some awesome work for next build.
@@benspicoreefing2169 Hmmm yes...I've seen the stacked rock look. Might need to look into that. Thanks! 💙🐠
Finally let’s get it👊❤️🔥!
HAHA YES DAVE! It's moving right along! 💙🐠
PS... this video took me 3 WEEKS to edit! It went from 2 hours of video footage to 11 minutes! 😳🤣
💙🐠
Nice!
Thanks! 💙🐠
This is going to be very neat :D The return of the shrimp oh boy lol :3
😁 You know it! 🦐 The shrimp gets gets meaner every time! 🤣
💙🐠
@@BlueDamsel lol that it does can't wait to see this tank take shape :3
@@lordvengerx Me too! 😁 Thanks again! 💙🐠
@@BlueDamsel Anytime you are very welcome :3
Great video I’ll be setting up a 29 gallon soon I can’t wait 😊
So exciting Christopher! Is it your first saltwater tank? 💙🐠
No but my 1st reef tank
@@Fifthimagez Even better! Welcome to the Addiction! 😄🤣
💙🐠
Great video. Great filming job. You’re funny. Although you’re making a budget tank, this seems like you’ve been doing this for a while. Selection of items...just perfect.
I had SUCH a hard time finding a good rock scape, too. I kept messing with it all the way up until a day before I got fish. (So about a month. Lol.) I ended up with two big island with some holes here and there. Not perfect, but good enough!
Subbed! I recently just set up a 20 gallon long set up. Similar to yours! The 20 gallon long reef is one of my favorites in nano territory. What stand are you using? Did you make it? Where did you purchase it. Awesome video! Really enjoyed it keep it up!!!
I love this Video lol, you funny 😆.
🤣 Thanks Nat! I try to keep things fun and positive! 💙🐠
💯💯💯👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👊🏿👊🏿
And then there’s me spending 1200 bucks on a fresh planted 40 gal breeder set up😂😂💀💀
👍 I like it 👍
Hey hey Billy! Thanks! 💙🐠
Thanks for the great video 👍 👍 smashed the red button share the love
Thank you for your video. I’m not ready for Ro unit and your budget tank setup is amazing Are you still using distilled water for you tank and did you have any issues with it?
Hey Jay! Thanks for watching and for your kind words! I've ALWAYS used distilled water and have never had an issue. Tank is doing great. Working on some updates for you guys this week! 💙🐠
How you liking the 20g still ? Wanna set mine up debating on the hob option or that fuji cube option
What kind of stand did you use
that's what she said
New build!!! Bluepers were awesome 🤣
🤣 Thanks! Glad you enjoy the bluepers! I'm sure there will be PLENTY more in the future as I'm not the most GRACEFUL of reefers! 🤣🤣
💙🐠
Can the tank actually hold live fish
Is that a piece of IKEA furniture your tank is ultimately on?? If so, that would make my day because I am worried about whether or not a 20 gallon tank will be supported upon my Songesand four-drawer dresser.
Are you still keeping fish tanks? I can understand if life prevents doing videos larely... subbed in hopes of seeing some new videos or updates someday...
Cheers, hope all is well...
Thanks Isaiah... someday hopefully soon! 😉
I think is cheaper to get a set up ready tank ..is like 500 dollars for every thing you're going to need with thought upgrades
May I ask where did you get your lid?? I have the same tank but doesn't include a lid....
Petco
20 or 15 gallon?
Is this a good clownfish tank?
yes, you probably could have a pair in it easily.
Is this a good tank for clownfish?
Yea
Hang on back filter is all you need for saltwater?
For mechanical filtration yes, but you have to go big. A hob filter should be able to filter ~10 times your water volume in an hour (dont take my word for it do some research)
Tbh i have a seachem 75 on my 20 gal and it works great! I also have an in-tank refugium for cheato, that grows with the aquarium light
Most of the biological filtration will be done by live rock and sand
I just got a fresh water tank why am I watching saltwater tank videos
Did you jump over yet.?
That water is ok to begin but You need rodi water after that
Any updates?!
Working on some now. I started a new job and just trying to figure out the new schedule! 💙💙🐠🐠
the rock are to plain add color
Js get the innovative marine 15 gal tank for 99 bucks
Follow up ?
try to get mor flat rocks
2:05 when the line of cocaine was a little bigger then you thought
100% my opinion but 20 gallon hex tanks looks so much better then 20 longs with reef tanks
ok dont buy API test kit buy like salifet
I mist a lot of ur new videos
Hey hey Zack! 😄 I'm back! 💙🐠
Lol that’s not what she said
too much misguided info here. everything is going to be upgraded later ?
So I have a 20 gallon tank already, but even on a budget it's still gonna run me atleast 300 just to get a 20 gallon going? Ouch!
And MORE! 😉 That's just to set UP the tank when you start getting in to buying fish and CORAL, the budget goes out the window! 💙🐠
@@BlueDamsel definitely want to get into the marine and coral world.. since I made this comment I've decided to begin preparations to start breeding freshwater snails and shrimp in an attempt to potentially start earning enough to expand with the goal of one day this project making enough to possibly fund my whole fishkeeping hobby.
Also been thinking about recording as much of the journey as I can and if starts to become successful who knows, maybe upload on CZcams and see what happens 🤔
Anyway ty so much for taking the time to answer my comment. Seems like fewer and fewer tubers do that these days.🙏👏👍
Reef tanks are very expensive. There is no cheap in the reefing world. But it is so worth it because it is the only section of the aquarium hobby that allows you to have an ecosystem in your home. Saltwater fish only, freshwater, or planted tanks dont come close to how complex a reef aquarium will get. I have them all lol 180G cichlid tank, 15G planted tank, and a 90G Reef tank. My reef tank costs much more than my freshwater combined by a factor of 3. And it has far more maintenance cost. I repeat do not go cheap in Reefing you will end up regretting it. Get the good equipment right from the start. Mainly talking about filtration, flow, and lighting. It can get really pricey. Also corals and, rock, and livestock are very expensive. Try to find used stuff locally like on offerup. Lighting will be the most expensive imo. Getting an amazing light is expensive and could still die on you. Getting a cheap light is a hit or miss. It might die on you or it wont be able to grow anything you may want later. There is a big learning curve too. I get my corals almost an HR away from my house. There are local shops but they sell for extremely expensive compared to my favorite.
Blue Damsel is a hottie!
