- We've setup the reef tank, tested the equipment and now it's time to visit a few local fish stores to stock our reef with some new fish and corals!

The Corals
I'll have to update the corals when I get a list of what I bought, but for now I sadly don't know the names 🤦🏻♂️ I will say this is a mixed reef that is going to be full of stony SPS corals, zoanthids, mushrooms and a few select softies to liven it up.

I used to have this exact tank until a ladder fell over and shattered the glass. I still have salt crystals on the vapor barrier in my crawlspace. I managed to save all the fish and had to immediately buy a slightly larger new tank.
I've been keeping reefs for quite awhile. If this is your first tank, this is going to be a tough lesson in biology.
This is my first dip back in after about 10 years but i've had many tanks in the past. My biggest was a 250. That was a much tougher lesson in what I can actually handle on my own haha.

@@PalmettoCoralCo. I think they were basically trying to say I was going to fail miserably...which I probably am, but I do have experience...which is why I know how to crash tanks lol
@@PalmettoCoralCo.perfectly fine? Sixline and dragonet in a tank that looks like it was setup yesterday? Yeah both of them are dying, no doubt. Mayyyybe the sixline will accept pellets. The dragonet is dying though.
Really should wait till you aren't driving to show your purchases.

Might want to dose some pods for the mandarin since it's a newer tank

We are lucky to have them close by.
Adding a mandarin and 6 line to an IM25 that isn't mature... that 6line will eat all the pods and the mandarin will starve unless you have one trained on pellets or frozen. That mandarin looked to big to come from ORA. Keep us updated I'd like to see how that mandarin is doing. You can also try artic pods and feed a little everyday to the mandarin.
The mandarin died unfortunately and to be honest I think the six line is just a bully. He's killed a few other fish since then as well. But ya the tank was too young for the mandarin. RIP.
Some very basic research would have prevented these unnecessary deaths

Frogspawn doesnt take over. They grow like a tree to look big and bushy. But wont take over like xenia, gsp, and aiptasia would.

Sps should be at the highest point in your tank if it’s a mixed reef and if your par is greater then 250 at the bottoms might want to bring that xr30 down to about 20% -30% on that shallow tank
The only sps I put higher up in the tank bleached on me...all others are doing well. Jeez.

You got no corelean alegae growth in the tank, doesn't even look cycled, and you are adding hard to keep fish?

Definitely did but still my favorite fish to date. I love his slitty little eyes.
6 line wrasse needs at least 100 gallons an the Mandarin will starve in such a tank 😢
Unfortunately mandarin died a long time ago but six line has lasted this whole time. I've had many of them in small tanks.

That poor lil mandarin. Hope it survives. Playing hunger games by adding that six line and a mandarin to a fresh tank. I’m honestly surprised that store sold you those without a warning. Guess they just want your money.
Most stores just want your money but I guess it was my fault in the end.
