This is awesome Alex, good to see it coming along and how you overcame problems along the way!
I've found that once your anemone is settled with its foot in a comfy crevice. Its not likely to move again (once its settle for a few weeks) Once its got its foot in a decent overhand it probably wont move. Our flow and light is pretty consistent in tanks so I reckon its usually a lack of a comfy spot that makes them move. Once its settled you should be able to move the rock higher and the nem wont move. In my experience anyway! I now add anemones first to a tank, add a load of marco rubble until it finds a rock it likes and then I scape :)
Love the kessil look. I'm going to have to find a used one to use on one of my setups.
That's a gorgeous tank. CADE are probably the best non-custom tanks out there.
Very cool. Thinking about getting back into the hobby. Just a small 15 gallon WB though. Cheers.
awesome vid
I think he means 25 gallons or 100l if anyone was confused by that...
Can't remember what I said, but yeah that's about right!
@@ReefDork 250 gallons or 100l. I thought maybe they had a gigantic sump at first! :)
patience goes a long way in this hobby
the other path is expensive
I got inspiration from this 😮😮
Extra Spicy version of kalk 🤣love it♥
I thought when you add mag to calcium/alkalinity something precipitates out...? I did a test once in Rodi water and the ph and alk dropped dramatically.
All needs to be separate, but loads of dosing solutions combine calcium and magnesium
I love a your videos 😃
Exactly like mine with a new tank with old rock and corals. The green cyano but it was easy to deal with. You might need chemiclean to get over this hump
It's almost completely gone already 🙂
Broken hand and still tinkering with the tank. Either serious addiction of madness 😊
😅
Haha! Well glad I'm the only one!
I've just been through exactly the same with Caribsea Ocean Direct Oolite Live sand. After 5 days of cloudiness running filter socks and then thinking bacterial bloom I'd had enough. Removed the whole lot and rinsed in a large container. Frustrating and quite a job! But the water is now crystal clear. I think that product needs to be reviewed or at least come with a warning ⚠️ 😂 Tank looks great btw 👍
I use ocean direct sand alot on our installs, it’s a bit of a knack to fill the tank and keep the water crystal clear during the process 👍
I think put a shelf at the back of the tank! Floating garden
I’m setting up a 50l marine tank expensive £300 so far including temp controller and Hannah salininity checker used
I would of flipped that shelf bracket upside down though, so it kinda looks like a light tank mount. 🤷♂️ Great video!✌️
I wanted it to be out of the way so you can't see it behind me in videos, but I think that's a good shout
To be honest using shelf brackets is such a simple idea. Would never of thought of using this over a hanging kit suspended from the ceiling.
You mean the right way up. It is up side down 😂
Would hide the cables too!
"I live near Maidenhead Aquatics"
No bragging. You lucky bastard.
What equipment would you put on a Red Sea 200 g2 aquarium? Looking to buy one but the max all in one system is a lot more money
KESSILDORK - I coined that term :)
Great video Alex. Where did you get those dosing containers from?!
Ebay - item number 09-10679-32335 I think
@@ReefDork cheers dude
Hey brotha! Love the videos, please save yourself the headache and just use some chemiclean. it's harmless to everything and all you have to do is run a stone for a few days. Hopefully you see this and can just get over the cyano.
Hey Alex, loving the Cade tank! I've just ordered the 600; it should arrive on Friday. I'm also going with the Deltec skimmer 600 after watching your review on them. I'm planning to squeeze in a Reefmat 250 as well. Do you have any recommendations for lighting? I'm planning to keep softies and LPS only, and the light selection is overwhelming and pricey.
600 might be a bit big - are you not tempted by the 400? I like Kessil but any of the main brands are fine.
@@ReefDork Thanks for the reply. The 400 was my original option, but I was worried it might not be enough. I'm guessing that's not the case. I will go with the 400; it will also save me some extra money. I'll check out Kessil now. Thanks again
I had great success with bumblebee snails against them poxy snails
A uv steriliser will not work on removing cloudiness. it's a strong and good protein skimmer that will remove the cloudiness from the water. I used 10, bags in a giant aquarium and my skimmer removed it all. So you should of just left the water in there, and be patient forbit to clear.
Fix worked... 😉
Ph in my salt water tank is 7.8 I do have a polycarbonate lid and salinity is 1.023 but Iv looked it up that’s fine for corals and fish
1.023 is too low for corals, it'll stress them at that level. Build it up to 1.025 or 1.026 over the course of a few days.
@@ReefDork what about the ph issue is the lid causing that
I have one of these tanks on order but not got it yet. Do you think you could fit a skimmer in that sump with the clarisea filter roller (or better still a Reefmat 250) or would it mean some DIY on the sump ?
Not as I've got it setup, no. But I think I've seen a video of a guy in Oz who squeezed a roller into the corner. The ultra reef ukm 120 skimmer would be my choice for this tank
I had the radion g6 above a 60g and swappwd it out for the same reason. PAR was disappointing. I actually think the spread on the light is complete overkill, half the light energy gets wasted over the aide of the tank unless you habd it like 4 inches above the water
I've been thinking about swapping over to zlements PH plus! Hurry up and do a review for me 😅
Will do, I'll give it a good while testing it first.
I used it for about 6 months now and it’s amazing hands down the best 2 part out there I use to use ati and kalk to help with ph since changing to phplus don’t need kalk and the corals colours are more vibrant
@@liampritchard4163agreed I've found the same.
@@liampritchard4163 good news! Very tempting to switch over! I currently use their other 2 part solutions!
Any chance you could show how you plumbed the clarisea into the cade mate ? Interested in this tank as it works out cheaper than the many custom quotes I have been given so far.
I tried to film it but it's in a really awkward spot. But basically I used one of these www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134768369339?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=H70CkAUyRYG&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=piiTzhMmTY-&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
@@ReefDork Nice one mate ty
The sand you switched to was it the course sand from Maidenhead aquatics?
Yep
1:47 250 gallons or 100L after displacement? That must be some magic mirror tank to hold 250 gallons :D
😂 oops, I added a zero to the gallons!
I've had a look through your videos, but not sure if I have missed something. Can you tell me why you decided to strip the Evo?
Main reason was I wanted a slightly larger tank to go behind me for the videos.
Ah right. Just found you over on Ultimate Reef after you mentioned it, haven't got a tank as yet, but looking into the evo.@@ReefDork
Who makes the wall mount for your light? Also, are those the Kessil tuna blue and AI coral grows? Or are they the glows?
Can you please provide a link to the 3D print files for the light mounts you mentioned?
No link - I made them myself
1:11 is that a blocked lower vent?
No, it just had a bit of sand on it. I do find it gets a little dirty over time, but it hasn't yet properly clogged for me.
Alex, I’m designing a 50 gallon waterbox aio set up. Want to use that eheim UV. What pump you use to get the water out of the tank and back in? I’m looking at the new AI centrifugal pumps.
I just used a Jecod - no point spending the extra on the AI one IMO
@@ReefDork thank you sir dork, makes sense! Like a dcw 2500? We have jebao here not jacod(same thing but the part numbers may be different). $55 US vs the AI @ $120…decent savings. 🙂 it adds up. See you on the stream later. Thanks for your time.
I just got a new ro filter it’s 4 stage but doesn’t have di resin will that be ok?
You need the di stage really but you can add one on cheaply
There's an MSDS sheet online from DD that clearly says it's 15% sodium hydroxide.
pa.supply/media/pdf/64/1e/21/SD-Z-pHplus-Part-1BjY3q46z10epC.pdf
Im sure it was 10% a while ago. if its now 15% its been upped
Whats the light on the fluval?
It was an AI Blade grow
Which tank is this ? Is it aio?
It's a Cade S2 500 nano - not an AIO, it has a sump underneath 🙂
Add a clam to that place
Not really applicable to your tank since you're doing the clarisea on this one, but do you prefer the reefmat or the smart roller?
I think the Smart Roller because the roll change is just as easy and it's smaller. But they're both good and I'm actually liking the simplicity of the Clarisea too.
@@ReefDork I was all set on the reefmat until all the reports on r2r about drive failures. Now I've gotta research more on these two. Thanks for the fast reply and all the great content.
What happened to your arm? Get well soon. Tank looks great.
His alter-ego average biker had an accident.
Broke my hand a few months ago in a motorcycle accident - no major injuries though so all good!
Bumble bee snails eat clams
Who else thought they had a hair on their screen at the 2 min mark?
😂😂😂🎉
Man. I would have breaked the tank. What is ur 3 d pritnter printing?!
Various reefy parts 🙂
@ReefDork excellent vidoe. Journey well lived on that tank
@@ReefDork Great video as always. I'm making good progress on my Pico aquarium concept using 3D printing. What is the best way to reach out to you and share? - Paul
Kesel and 2 blades xD😂 thats about 600 quid
Evo gone 🥲
I think glows woulda given you a better pop instead of the blade grows. Nice work documenting the hell we call this hobby 😂
😅 yeah, I'd definitely like to try them but I'm worried they'll look a bit too purple looking...
@@ReefDork definitely not when you have the kessil to help balance it out trust me on this one glows are way better for your application I have both. You can’t adjust what’s missing in the grows 😎
@@CJSAQUARIUMS interesting, thanks for the input 👍
Which brand gravel sand did you get? Ive just got a bag of nature’s ocean Australian gold live sand which has a grain size of 0.5mm-1.7mm you got me rethinking if this was the right choice as I’m just setting up my first ever tank with the help of your videos 🫡
Plenty of people do well with fine sand, I just don't like it. Can't remember the brand name, it was just cheap from Maidenhead Aquatics
