    I don’t currently own any reefs (yet) but I’d say that the reason I’ve kept up with my aquariums is that I now have a whole ecosystem in this little box and it’s just so cool to say “I helped make that”. It’s also very calming to sit back after a long day and just watch the fish

      It’s been 8 months now man and I have gotten two reef aquariums going since then as well as a huge planted tank and I would say I’m gonna change my previous comment a little. I’ve noticed a pattern in my livestock and how I plant/place corals in my tanks and I can see myself in this creation. All the little quirks and crazy parts are all reflections of different parts of my personality and it’s a neat way to view everything that I’ve kept so far and a relaxing spot to view yourself. Just sucks that I’ve got to leave it all behind in a week as I ship off to the Navy but we’ll see, I may have the chance to make another reef or two for other people while I’m away from home

    Overdoing it with the “clean up crew” is my pet peeve. People want immediate results, buy way too many, and they end up starving to death. An ecosystem is about balance. You should always start small and slowly add more if your system can support them. Never the other way around.

  • @thomasbaldauf7971
    @thomasbaldauf7971 Před 3 lety

    I would agree with the clowns in a 5g, but clownfish do get pretty big, if youve ever seen full sized clowns. But the behaviour of clowns, not moving far from their anemone, is totally true; mine never stray more than 4 inches from their torch coral, unless they are being fed.
