  • Former Football Italia presenter, James Richardson, takes us on a tour through Naples ahead of Italy's first international fixture there for over 10 years. He samples the local pizza, visits a shrine devoted to Napoli icon and 'Football God' Diego Maradona & asks whether the Argentine has had a lasting impact on the region's relationship with its national side, ahead of England v Italy's Euro 2024 qualifier.

James Richardson should present a football history show on C4 kinda like how Tony Robinson used to have an ancient history show back in the day

I recently saw that game mentioned in this video, ARGENTINA were the better side and deserved to win which they did on
penalties, of course the NAPLES factor helped them because if that game was played in ROME the crowd would've been
a bigger factor but in NAPLES although ITALY lost the crowd didn't feel the same pain because it was to DIEGO'SARGENTINA.
Nevertheless despite that game I'm sure that NAPLES people have forgiven DIEGO by now 34 years on.
DIEGO will always be a god in NAPES.

Shows the power of maradona, italy destroyed his career in italy the next season after maradona knocked italy out of the world cup in 1990.
That shows what italy as a nation thought of him, that maradona was so big he was bigger then italian football, which was saying he was beyond human in effect.
After world cup, italians went after maradona, and then in that season he got banned, and his football career was ruined.
All that just for maradona beating italy in that semi.
Tell us what other player would italy ruin, just for beating there national team. Remember maradona was a light for seria a, he brought money and players to seria a, but they ruined him just for beating italy in 1990 semi.
The season after that world cup, for napoli, italy made sure he was ruined as a player, and got banned as we all know.
If he had not beaten italy in that semi, he would never of been destroyed like that, and you all know it, showing how big a player he was, and they wanted him gone.

Channel 4 should resurrect football italia as a 1 hour highlights show for late nights. Low cost way of satisfying the nostagic itch. But with the abundance of sports channels i guess there's no need for it snyway.

What is it with tv presenters and their reluctance to obey the law and common sense and wear a seat belt
