    VIDEO INTRODUCTION:
Diamond Industry | Surat - Diamond City of India | Business Case Study - Think School
Surat in the Indian state of Gujarat, known as the diamond city of India, is set to open the world's largest diamond market. The diamond industry of India is one of the most valuable industries in the country, commanding a staggering 93% market share in the diamond mining, diamond cutting, and polishing market of the world. The Diamond trade was initially dominated by Jewish diamond dealers in Belgium, but then the Jain community of India revolutionized the industry by focusing on small diamonds, which were largely ignored by the Jewish traders. Jain traders created a high-quality, low-cost manufacturing process in Surat and built a powerful network for distributing diamonds. This enabled the Jain community to become a leading force in the global diamond industry. Moreover, the Government policies and geographical advantages further bolstered India's domination of the diamond industry, making it an $18.6 billion market employing around 800,000 people.
    So, now the question is,
How did the Jains take control of the diamond industry of the world???
How did they beat the Jews of Belgium?
What was the business strategy that made them so successful?
What business lessons can you learn from the incredible community of Jains??
Let's find out the answers in this video. Also don't forget to LIKE this video and SUBSCRIBE to the CHANNEL for more business case studies.

I am from Belgium. I was born in India but moved to Belgium when I was only 6 months old. My father was and is working in the diamond industry in Belgium (Antwerp). A lot of Jains started going to Belgium to understand the diamond market and I lived in Antwerp my whole life with other Jains, all of our parens were working in the diamond industry. Feels good to be proud of my community and see the recognition it deserves.

Jain community is god's gift to India.
    .
It's not just trade, their habit of donating for common causes is legendary. Jain community in Barshi has created several drinking water tanks, numerous hospitals, schools and colleges - and their pet project is Nargis Dutt Cancer hospital - they gave land, medical equipments, gifted money to build several wards too.

Most of labour to most small or big Diamond cutter, traders are Patels from Saurastra. My uncles, my in-laws literally 50% of people I know are in Diamond business (others in Textile). Biggest diamond traders like SRK Group of Savjibhai Dholakiya or Dharmanand Group of Laljibhai Patel (person who bought Modi Suite in auction for 4.7 crore) and many other big names from Patel community of Saurastra.

What he told me is that in general most of the Jains, Marwaris and Gujaratis before starting any business every member of the family sit at one place and have long discussions which helps them sort out every financial difference they have and take business and investment decisions which are accepted by all of the members and avoid even a single decision which any of the family member doesn't agree with.

Even when a big investment comes in, he shares a big chunk to the employees. Everyone loves him and respects him and honestly works for company success. Today we are the most advanced product in the market. At least 2 years ahead of competition. However, we managed to get everything done, even the final EC, thanks to Gadgari ji and Modi ji govt, but to complete and commence the project we are unable to find the funds, that investor ! We have been sending sos mails to gadgari ji and pmo and all but no response. I literally lost hope in this hopeless country. I am a jain and i can relate to this video every second. We do also have a business shower kind of thing means if I start a new business today i do not have to worry about customers as the jain community of the respective city is now a permanent customer of mine, this can later lead to mouth to mouth advertising and there is this ease of doing business in jains.

You have correctly explained role of Jain community in diamond industry..No doubt the Jains were pioneer of diamond industry in India but it should be noted that Patel community also held prominent role in growth of industry...Why there is no single mention of Patel community in the video and also there is no mention of current dominant players of Diamond industry and majority of them are Patels
