      You won't believe it... just 2 hours before I watched your videos, I made a design of an air intake with the original air filter....then I saw your video and the CAD model of it.
      I would suggest to maximize the diameter of the turbo inlet and not using the OEM one. Furthermore I would add a honeycomp insert to egalize the airflow after the air filter.But I don't know, if this creates more lag.

      Yes, the air inlet on the turbo cool side does help, but there are already options on the market. The stock filter is the best option for laminar airflow, and we didn’t see the need for the hexagonal insert, it works as we did it. But, it could be tested

    My question on the bushings: you say it's almost mandatory and transforms the handling- this makes me buy them but i have my doubts on if i can install them myself at all, what i need for installing them.
    Also your take on how long they will last

    • @AJClubsport
      @AJClubsport  Před měsícem

      Hello mate,
      Yes, they are very important to increase the handling. Since this video was made, the Wiborg Engineering front LCA arms came out. These transform the front geometry and dial out ALL the understeer, both at stock height and at much lowered. No coilover will do this, as they have different jobs.
      Both in the case of simple bushings and of the Wiborg arm kit, you will need professional installation by a mechanic.
      I advise you to go Wiborg, and then you will thank me for the advice!

    Great video! I have the same line of thought as you regarding engine mods. Indeed the catalitic unit is a bottleneck.
    Do you have a link to the cams and spring + retainers you mention at 13:28? I've read so many people having valve float problems or even retainer failure with the GR Yaris and that's a concern for me.
    I do not really like how easily people go with the ECU tunning on cars with stock components, because there is always a compromise, usually on engine reliability. The manufacturer already optimizes the ECU to find an equilibrium between performance and reliability.
    Because of that for my GR Yaris I prefer bolt-on mods which are street legal on Europe: Exhaust, the catalytic converter than you mentioned, and a better air intake. I considered a bigger intercooler, but like you said, it comes with compromises.
    What are your thoughts on an oil cooling kit? I think the car has a problem with oil temp under heavy use.

      @@magnus-thome hello Magnus: please watch my suspension comparison video to see exactly how much the car leans today, with hydraulics set at 50% on Goodyear F1 Supersport’s. Car lean is not only controlled by ARB’s and springs: it is controlled, in this case, also by the nitrogen filled dampers, that have a very impressive valving that keeps the car level with very little roll. You would want to test the car on wider tires, on track, and only after that decide if you need stiffer ARB’s. The bushings do affect NVH, but in a marginal way. In my opinion, the benefits outgo the downsides by far! The rear longitudinal arms upper bushings have the greatest effect on small harsh bumps, but sharpen the whole handling by far…
      Regarding tires: it depends what you do with your car. For street I like the stock sizes with semi slick tires, like Sport Cup 2 Connect. For full out track, 265/35R18 with 9,5J R18 Et45 rims BUT you will need corresponding suspension setup, otherwise you will find yourself “hanging” onto the tires instead of having an enjoyable track machine!

      Hello Greg, thankyou for your question!
      Infact it has been my mistake in the video: you can get the rear trailing arm bushing from Verkline (I suggest) or from DNA Racing (backup option)

    Nice tips, as always! Thanks! I have HJS downpipe and Kind3D intake duct on my list. How does the rain go with the vented hood? Never had any experience with them.... As for the mirror riser, I'm using Tegiwa one, helps much with visibility in front, but yea, the angle had changed so you see less distance in the back, it points more downwards, towards the road surface.

      I wonder about the same. For climates less "Italian": I think that rain /snow getting under the bonnet it's a concern. Maybe these vents should a drip tray to sort that issue. Looking forward to see this commercialized ... also an cold air intake ;-)

    • @AJClubsport
      @AJClubsport  Před rokem +1

      Very difficult question, but I will give it my go:
      - EcuTek remap, NOT ANY OTHERS!!
      - DECAT or OPF-eliminating full exhaust, 70mm, not 76mm!! (you loose too much spool at these power levels)
      - Panel filter, cotton, NOT sponge type!
      - Shift Cables aluminium bushings from LAMSpeed
      - Motul RBF660 or similar high quality brake/clutch oil flush, well done...
      - F/R Cusco Strut bars (you have no idea, especially the rear one...)
      - Front Powerflex Lower arm Rear Black series buhsing (the one with metal housing and ball inside)
      - Rear Longitudinal trailing arm front bushing (made similar from the above, from Hardrace, Cusco or DNA)
      With these mods and propper alignment, you will sped a bit less, maybe, and have really tangible results to appreciate every day without regretting!
      Let me know how it goes for You!
