BYU Mile Race Prep Workout, 3 Days Before SUB-4 At Altitude

- On January 13th 2024 BYU junior Aidan Troutner became the first man ever to run a sub-4 mile (3:59.20) on BYU's indoor track which sits at 4,551ft elevation. Three days prior to that historic race the BYU distance crew did a mile race prep workout.
Group A: Aidan Troutner (NCAA mile qualifier), Lucas Bons (NCAA mile qualifier), James Corrigan & Joey Nokes
Group B: Rest of team
The Workout:
Tempo mile + 2x400 (2 min rest)
3 min recovery
Tempo mile + 2x400 (2 min rest)
2 min recovery
2x200 (2 min rest)

Group A: 4:39/1:01/1:01/4:36/0:59/0:59/28.7/26.5
Group B: 4:46/1:01/1:00/4:50/1:00/1:00/28.9/26.4

but there's no such thing as pullers or pushers, it is a cyclical action of both.
But overall it's all about pushing on the ground to go forward
