      eduardelric that's in perfect driving conditions. Majority of ppl will not get that time. I've sold the camaro for the past couple years and they are fun but only the v8 has the torque and grunt that matches the exterior design of the vehicle.

    There's no reason to call someone who purchases this version of the Camaro a poser. Usually, you'd have to go with the V8 to keep your man card. The V6 version will still be fine.

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  Před 8 lety +7

      I've also heard that the turbo 4 is no slouch (loosing about 3/4 of a second in the 0-60) dash , but looses the sonic quality of the V6. The man card comes in a lot of different forms these days. 10 years ago, we would have been thrilled to have the performance of the T4 and V6. Things just keep getting better...

    • @brucec43
      @brucec43 Před 8 lety +10

      0-60 in about 5 seconds is fast. Most V8 fetishists don't drive on curves. They want bragging rights in the parking lots on Friday night.

      I had a 5th gen V6 and the turbo 4 easily beats it in the fun factor category. The smaller frame is more confidence inspiring and the cloth seats keep you planted through the corners better. The aftermarket is going to be something to see in the next few years.

    I drove a Camaro equipped just like this one and came away very surprised and very impressed. Everything you said is true, I just had to drive it to believe it. The ATS chassis transforms this car. With the lack of a premium pkg option in the Mustang V-6, Ford is manipulating buyers into the (sounds like problematic) eco-boost. Chevy got it right!

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  Před 8 lety

      Yes, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the car is very good, just a test drive. I have to believe Ford's EcoBoost engine is very durable. GM effectively offers the same thing with the T4 engine in the Camaro. Turbocharging has gone mainstream.

    • @kjscoleman
      @kjscoleman Před 8 lety

      You're right, forgive me, that was very awkwardly worded. What I should have said is that in my opinion, the naturally aspirated V-6 is the perfect balance of performance and economy. And that when combined with this chassis and the options you mention in the review, it makes for a very competent and compelling package that I find highly desirable. Having enjoyed your channel for some time, I'll just stick by my previous comment that everything you said is true!

    I have a 2012 v6 manual. Even my car is a blast on the older platform that's much heavier, so this car is an absolute champion. I kind of prefer the looks of my generation...believe it or not, but the gen6 is growing on me. The interior is a massive improvement since it's not going for hardcore retro (which is still love even though it's cheaply done).

  • @jcw91371
    @jcw91371 Před 6 lety +3

    LOVE my V-6! A one second difference in 0-60 is NOT worth 4-6K. I'm waiting for the next major refresh, then I'll trade it in and upgrade my trim. I hope they're still making the Arctic Blue Metallic or bring back the Blue Velvet when they do.

    • @TheFreshPeddler
      @TheFreshPeddler Před 5 lety +1

      Its not just the 0-60, its that and everything after that. Its not the same car with a different engine. It looks better, sounds better, rides better, handles better...and serves up tacos better.
      4-6k maybe if you over option out a 2lt. If thats the case, its better imo to get the 1ss as resale value will bring that more in line. The v6 will not hold value like the ss.

  • @xray111xxx
    @xray111xxx Před 8 lety +1

    Alpha is king! ATS and this Camaro are it. Best in their class. They will knock your socks off in handling, and refinement. That V6 is excellent. Way better than Ford. The 6 speed, and the V6 are amazing. The 1SS is amazing though. So effortless where the V6 seems to have to work harder, but it is as fast as my 2010 Mustang GT was, gets better mileage, handles better, just plain better overall. Seeing outside is highly overrated. Being seen in is where it is at. Bumble Bee indeed. I love this car. Challenger is a Fat cat, and Mustang needs a diet too. P.S. GM did an awesome job with the V6 exhaust note. Just fantastic. Trivia, Hawaii Five 0 started with an RS, and went to the SS in later seasons. Danno's car looks better now than ever before.

    Well, it's more practical & comfortable than the Nissan 370z I used to own. It may have been as fast as a Mustang GT, but the Z's hatch could barely hold two of the Costco packs. Blind spots were even worse. All you can see in the rear view mirror was the other guy's bumper & grille. I sure hated driving the Z in stop-and-go traffic. Great review.

    The lack outward visibility a deal breaker or something to get use to?

    • @SPARTANsui1
      @SPARTANsui1 Před 8 lety +3

      My first buy in to the Camaro family was a 2011 2LT I picked up in 2012. I now own a 2016 2SS. I can tell you a few differences. They have improved the outward visibility going forward. The A pillars are smaller and the dash sits lower. The cabin is slightly wider thanks to thinner side panels on the doors. It's pretty roomy for two people. Also a backup camera is standard which takes the guess work out of reversing. It's awesome!
      Having said that, it took me a day or two to get used to the vehicle. I went from a 2007 Impala SS to the Camaro and it really wasn't difficult to adjust. People will say you can't see out the rear, they're wrong. For instance, if you need to turn your head when merging or looking for vehicles to the rear/side of you, your mirrors are not properly adjusted. With properly adjusted side mirrors, there are no blind spots. The 2SS is also equipped with mirrors that automatically rotate downwards to help when reversing into a spot or parallel parking. It's fantastic. I hope my information helps, you will not be disappointed with a Camaro if you choose to buy one. Test drive it first, but it shouldn't let you down.

    The Chevrolet has the best sounding v6 when compared to the Ford and Dodge. But for me the I4 turbo is the hidden gem. The turbo Camaro tips the scales at less than 3400lbs. Combine the lightweight and superb handling and you have a fun car all around. As far as the visibility goes, stop whining. Like all me too reviews people complain about the visibility. If you want visibility buy a Malibu or....Mustang. The 6th gen Camaro built on the Alpha platform is the best platform to ever sport the Camaro badging.

    The paddle shifters are a gimmick on public roads because 1) only grandmas drive with 2 hands on the steering wheel 2) in a manual car, your right hand's position tells you what gear you're in; in contrast, a paddle shifter forces me to take my eyes off the road and look down at the dashboard to see what gear I'm in 3) paddle shifter doesn't let me skip gears like a manual 4) turning right at an intersection, I usually downshift as my hand turns the steering wheel but I can't do them both with paddles 5) my fingers are doing too much work juggling a signal lane change while simultaneously paddle shifting while simultaneously turning the steering wheel.

    • @ericheaton642

      +Brownie comparing to the 230i they are comparably priced, and comparing the SS to the 240i they're in the same ballpark too. The BMW is available with all wheel drive as well. The BMW is a little more expensive, but not by as much as you might think. It's a better sports car too.

    • @TheFreshPeddler
      @TheFreshPeddler Před 5 lety

      M240i is an overweight 128i with more power, and less feel than a 135i. Also bmw is overall a subpar company for reliability and turbos dont help. 128i is a reliable and light car, the others not as much.
      I like the 1 and even 2 series but at the end of the day a 2 series still looks like a dressed up 128i and a camaro ss looks like a car more worth the asking price.
      Better sports cars no, better city drivers absolutely. Far superior tuners to any v6 na car obviously. Certainly higher maintenance costs on avg though as well.
