  • Los Angeles Fire Department and Police Department were dispatched to the 6700 block of south Normandie Avenue for a traffic collision with fire. Rescue 857 was first on scene and found a two vehicle traffic collision with a fully involved ice cream truck on its side. Rescue 857, along with LAPD, nearby residents, and a private "fire patrol" company used fire extinguishers, garden hoses, and a small hose to attempt to extinguish the fire until a fire company arrived. According to witnesses, a female patient was trapped in the burning ice cream truck. A male patient from the ice cream truck had attempted to rescue the female from the burning vehicle but was unable to do so. He was treated and transported by LAFD paramedics. According to witnesses, the female that was in the burning ice cream truck had unfortunately passed away. LAPD South Traffic is handling the investigation.

A garden hose will most definitely help, people have used nothing more then a garden hose to protect their entire property from a wildfire. The issue is there isn't enough flow or velocity to really reach and put out a large scale fire, and would be slow moving but would eventually put the fire out

That's kinda scary to die like that. I just lost one of my high school buddies to a fiery car crash in November. Her and her bf were traveling through Congress, AZ, and someone who wasn't paying attention before they tried to pass another car in front of them, just went right on ahead and tried to go around by driving into oncoming traffic without looking first, and hit my friend and her bf head on and they all 3 died at the scene. She was 23 days shy of her 41st birthday and leaves behind 7 kids and 2 grandkids. One of my best friends. So sad to know that's how she left this world. I'm still in disbelief. Seeing this makes it all the more real and scares the living fuck outta me. You're one brazen dude to stand so close to that fire and film. Condolences to the family of the deceased... :(

  • @commucominternationalllc710

There is one real hero in this moment and that honor goes to the firefighter from what turns out to be 'Rural Protection Services Inc', a private not-for-profit organization based in Lancaster California.
While the agency professionals are taking their time to make sure their rigs are choreographed and situated 'just so' for their Hollywood on-camera moment, and the RA makes an ever so dramatic horn-blowing entry in order to stand by and leisurely radio in the scene report, and many others are fumbling around for what to do next, one, just ONE fire fighter displayed what it takes to get the job done in necessary quick order.
The lone female firefighter from that non-profit organization, who for whatever reason I cannot determine, and happened to be dozens of miles away from where this organization seems to normally operate, promptly appears out of nowhere and displays such sheer determination the likes of which I have not seen in quite a long time. Enough to quickly put the only amount of water onto that fire sufficient enough to actually make a difference.
So too, recognition is owed to the many civilians who did what they could with means that were not adequate to the job, yet they sure tried their very best. Unfortunately for them, the screams of the victim is something they will never be able to unhear for the rest of their lives.
