  • Hey guys, sorry for the long absence of videos. This is a reupload because I was having some issues with CZcams not showing this video to many people so I had to try and get that fixed. Hopefully it's all back to normal now. In this video I'll be explaining about Individual Throttle Bodies, how do they work, what are the benefits and what are the disadvantages. For people that will install ITBs Manifold on the car, i recommend you dont let it like the same way, i recommend you to put Wire Protection Screen on the ITBs Mounth, because have a little risk of a small rock enter on ITB and you engine aspirating it and damagely badly, Its the same principle of Ken Block turbos where haved a wire Frame Screen that protected the Turbos mounth of Dirt and Rocks that would lift when making Drift.

    • @AndorRadnai
      @AndorRadnai Před 7 měsíci +1

      There are some special wire mesh guards being produced, as racing carburettors often used to have them, and the shape is pretty similar.
      There are also specialised air filters for such an application. Those could work too.
      On a street car, I personally would go for an air filter and intake manifold to cover the ITB‘s, just to be safe.

      @@AndorRadnai F1 cars still have a plenum above their throttle bodies. It is for ram-air / cold air intake. The intake hole is smooth an small to reduce the chance to ingest something heavy. Then F1 cars have a diffusor like a car with air filter does. Could install the filter there without much loss. @gnrtx-36969

  • @ArneChristianRosenfeldt

    So the idea is to have the velocity stack in front of the throttle? But F1 cars still have the throttle bodies in front of the velocity stack. You could basically mount a flat plate in front of them and use it to close all throats. Opel made an engine with a throttle plate to block just one intake valve in a 3 valve cylinder. So I could understand if you move the plate close to the valve where the flow is disturbed anyways.

    I think they are best used for racing when u first open 2:56 the trottle plate say 20 %open there wont be much change all the way to say 80% this making more power faster off each turn in the track . Meaning 20% trottle = or close to the same as 80% trottle if u have ever drove a car with this set up u will notice immediately that there is no difference between 20% throttle and 80% so even trying to drive around slow is Almost impossible!!

    If you’re going to the extent of using ITBs, you’re much better off using slide throttles, not butterfly throttles. They’re simpler & potentially way cheaper. They’re are reasons why they are used in the top grades of racing

      Also open ITBs commonly produce less power than a properly routed intake given they’re sucking in air from the engine bay vs a dedicated cool atmospheric air feed.

      I think that if it's gonna be mostly used on tracks I don't think a dust filter will matter, or maybe if your area is very clean. Usually street driven ITB cars will have a large air filter for it to work, albeit the noise will be a bit quieter.
