  • Tripiti Gorge & Beach, South Heraklion Crete Greece 4 K
Tripiti gorge and beach can be found on south coast of Heraklion prefecture. The distance from Heraklion is 76 km and all the way by car till the beach takes about 1,5 hour as the final part is on unreinforced stone road.
There are possible two roads to get to Tripiti beach:
Either from Lentas, which is the nearest village - 10km western of Tripiti beach. Or there is also another one road that is descending from behind the mountains to the sea level and leads also though impressive St. Sava Canyon and Tripiti gorge.
Without doubt, Tripiti Gorge defenitely makes the excursion to Tripiti beach worth even more or can be reason to visit this area just by itself. you can hike eg. from Lentas. If you decide to drive to beach through the gorge then it will be very unique and for the driver especially, as extra attention and carefulness is needed to pass the narrow part where the width allows only one car to pass at the time. The narrowest part is about 50 m long.
Tripiti beach is 300 meters long and quite wide pebbly unorganised beach, that is surrounded by ‘caravan village’. There are tamarysk trees along the beach which provide natural shadow. The cliff on the western edge of the beach worths to come closer to find out that there is a natural window in rock.
Once in the area, you can visit also nearby Trafula gorge and beach which are just few km west of Tripiti and you will pass by as well as by St. Faulas port if you come to Tripiti from Lentas.
