So, whether this story is fake or not, if it is true, I suspect something. The two older siblings were the favourites, and while the parents treated the third child differently, they still went and adopted a fourth child. I am wondering if it is maybe due to the fact that OP has autism ? I know of families who treat people on the spectrum as though they aren't able to have emotions (which, big news, isn't true); maybe they saw OP as a failure, and adopted Jade because they wanted to make sure they had a third "normal" kid ? Just some theory.

Sometimes parents just gave on impulses. Like my parents helped my brother to pay for his house down payment, cleared off some of his student loan and pay half of his master degree (+his living expenses during that period as he was doing it overseas) while they had not given anything to me yet. They see that as a "needs" and didn't even think of setting aside some money for me. Yet people think that I was their favorite golden child because how proud they are of me.

OP should organize a retirement gift for her parents. Say "Jade and I (combined) will match the average of the two contributions."
People who abuse others by enabling are doing it for validation. Show the parents how little the golden children care. Do it right in front of them on speakerphone.
This is not to hurt the parents but to show that they have put themselves "second to" last. And if one of the two does step up OP doesn’t have to feel bad if the parents get abandoned later on.
(If any this sounds like confirming the sun rose in the morning then OP should take the parents guilt money and not feel guilty.)

I'm just like OP and Jade. I too am on the spectrum and have known about having it for almost 17 long years. Yes, even at 4 years old I wasn't all that stupid. I sympathize quite well with both Op and Jade as being around large crowds which will involve a lot of noise doesn't help those who are on the spectrum. I've almost had panic attacks before because of it. Meaning I don't like large crowds and certain noises. Usually whenever there are large family gatherings, I just bring along a book to read and my sketchbook materials to occupy myself as I don't like interacting with a lot of people. But I don't let my ADHD and Autism get in the way of living my best life. I currently have a part-time job and I'm considering obtaining an apprenticeship of some sort to become a maritime historian. Meaning I want to study ships for a living. I've been in love with ships, particularly ocean liners of the Edwardian/Gilded Age, since I was a little girl. I share a deep connection to the field because I've been interested in it for so long. Every time someone says I can't make a living out of being a historian, I literally loose my *bleep*! There's so much out there waiting to be discovered and I want to prove that just because one has mental health issues doesn't mean one can't build themselves a promising career.
