Its a good title. My 4 years with an E36 325is a 1992 were a mixture of pure bliss and frustration - but the problems were always solvable with knowledge and proper mantenance. You articulate it so well - proper LSD, not an open diff, RWD, manual gearbox, great engine note from the straight six, increasing scarcity, handsome boxy shape, communicative steering, nice clutch weighting, good seating position. All the right ingredients for a drivers car:)

I freaking love my E36. I have a low mileage '96 328i sedan with manual transmission and some minor upgrades (bushings, alignment, wheels and tyres, brake pads, brake lines and fluid) and it rides like a dream. Way better than my 2014 F30 320i. E36 FTW!

inaamulhaq khan The e30 m3 is gutless ! It's an over agsagurated car. The e36 Euro spec 321hp is the best m car ever made.
Hand built for the most part.
Us spec BMW m3 are iron blocks, better for forced induction.
S54/s65/s85 are write offs at this point. They explode from rod bearing issues.

I have never driven such a fine vehicle in my whole life... It's a keeper and was given to me as a gift by a very dear friend of mine... Even though I have some repairs to do on it at approx. 270,000kl, it has been reliable and has never left me stranded by the side of the road thus far... I love the experience the most and the 6 cylinder engine. My main concern is the engine oil leak that my mechanic advised me about, but I have also noticed that the leak isn't as bad and I get through to the next service atm, without any major issues, or having to top up the oil. My mechanic enlightened me that he will need to strip the engine to locate the problem, which I know will cost the most. My little project to fix. Thank you for sharing, it has been educational and looking forward to seeing more of your vids and learning from them the most. Have a great day!

It has been my money pit, changed so many things like revised engine, new windscreen, the back had to be welded, new cabeltree and so much more. American and Canadian E36 M3's werent M3's, they were really a 328i sport with some stroking to 3.0l and mods to deliver 240 hp from the old 2.8. The E46 330i was born from the development of the US E36 M3 engine...Proper E36 M3's were 3.0l 286hp then the limited edition GT came with new cams and adjustable aero package with 3.0l 305hp and last was the 3.2 evo with dual vanos and 321hp....

One of the, if not the best video from you Gavin. Great content and some fun times included for more than few seconds! I'm glad I know that even if we don't get to see, you are really driving M3 the way it was meant to be driven.
Also thanks for noticing my recommendations last time - glad to see some improvement and I can definitely see your channel growing in every possible way.
There is a couple of things I'd like to mention this time as well:
    1) Content related:
    - You could do some tests - 0-100km/h, 0-150km/h, breaking power, suspension, MPG normal/race etc. How did the car change, what did it lose over the course of time or maybe even do some research and compare it to some modern cars. Prove to these folks that even if it's old, besides its charm it still has that spirit inside which cannot be tamed. Besides that, excellent way you're going and as said keep it up.
    2) Car mods related:
Before anything, I'm sure you know what and when to do, money is important as well but as all of us, most likely you have to spend big chunk of your day doing non-interesting life things. So I'll just write a couple of mods you could do in case you didn't consider them.
    - Brakes - Wilwood or Brembo. They are a bit expensive but when you really drive this car it has to stop somehow and you'd see great difference.
    - Radiator - if you like pressing it, which I'm sure you do, I'd consider having brand new sport radiator or possibly some more advanced cooling tech.
    - ECU re-map - don't have to explain it too much.
    - Performance exaust (please do not ruin it with straight pipe)
    - Underdrive pulleys and engine bushes
    - Eaton M62 instead of AC compressor - something you might not be a fan of, especially when you hear the sound of it but still much more affordable than Garett's turbine or similar. This is some serious stuff and definitely one of the last projects but hey there's an idea if you'd ever like some boost.
Besides that, thank you for sharing this beautiful beast with us. I love my e36 and I'm pretty sure that, if circumstances are met, I will never own any other car. Cheers!

I just purchased a 2004 BMW E36 Coupe for $2,700.00 it looks just like yours except I don't have a spoiler, the seller took great care of it. I love it never thought I would own one. LoL 💗💗 the steering is somewhat stiff .. there are no lights on the dash to indicate something mechanical is wrong. No leaks. Help a sista out

The E36 is starting to become more desirable so they will start to go up in value. E30 values have gone up. I picked up a 1995 318i saloon (sedan) with just over 92,000 miles for a mere £250. It has to be one of the cheapest in the UK that runs, drives and has little rust.

Let's be clear. I LOVE my 97 e36. I also HATE my 97 e36. What do I hate you ask? Every single plastic component on the car. Whether it's under the hood or in the cabin they all will eventually fail because Germany couldn't figure out how to make long lasting durable plastic. I put a soda can in the cup holder once and the change holder literally exploded. It was hilarious as change went flying everywhere. Seriously I put up with failing sensors on a daily basis.....but damnit I love my car.😭😭😀

Here's something not to like...Replacing the e-36 cabin air filter. Just did mine for the 6th time in near 20 years and it still leaves my joints aching when the plastic pull tab on the old filter snaps off. Then there's the alternator and starter replacing woes. Maybe you're different, but I hate doing mechanics by braille. Another fun one is replacing the spiky blower motor resisitor... now that will make you start taking back ache pills by the handful. Face the facts, boys, the trolls in Munich don't want anyone other than the dealer to fix their cars and go out of the way to make access to the affected parts a painful experience. No, my 1998 e-36 318i is not for sale.

    • @TreatsOnTheStreets
      @TreatsOnTheStreets  Před rokem

I luckily haven't had to replace any of those yet. I do however need to fix a leaky heater core and much of the dash needs to come off to access it. Not looking forward to that 😅
