- We just had what may be the best World Cup on the field that anyone has ever seen. So now, it is time to assemble the worse teams in the world to play their own World Cup. It is only fair. They might not have Messi but these teams do try to qualify every time and never seem to have a chance to make the World Cup. Fear no more!
We put together a qualifying system that only gets the worst of the worst with a good balance between all of the continents. It felt like the best way to do it, make sure it’s fair for everyone. Asia still got a crazy number of teams in though, which was fun for them, but not really for some of the other continents, because their World Cup teams got abused. It was a very fun journey, I hope you enjoy it!

Ezra Walian is born dutch, only got his Indonesian passport in 2017. He was a nice talent in the youth teams of AZ and Ajax and played some seasons in the dutch second division and the u15/16/17 national youth teams of the Netherlands. No wonder he is the star at this world cup!

@@irsyasalim6679 The Asian Cup is next summer as well. Would love to see at least 1 or 2 Southeast Asian Nations have a strong Asian Cup run. Vietnam I think has the best shot, they had a great showing in 2019 reaching the QFS and nearly upsetting Japan there as well.
They also made the Final Round of 2022 Asian WCQ. Not the strongest results they made teams fight big time.

He is actually a commentator, he has a Masters degree in digital broadcasting and if you search you can find the appropriate channel on youtube about it. He has commentated in different sports, especially college sports in the US. He still does some commentating as a free lancer / as a hobby.

So, we just saw a quarterfinal at the so called "Worst World cup" that featured:
-A scoreline of 3-3.
-A team being down 2-0 without having any impact to the game whatsoever, and then out of nowhere tying the game 2-2.
-The losing team having a player on hattrick, while the winning side having a player on a brace.
-Super late drama with the goalkeeper of the winning team making two life-saving saves at the dying minutes of the game.
Which quite reminds me not just any match of the so called "Best World Cup", but the freaking *final*, with the alleged best teams.
I rest my case.

Singapore losing to Cambodia was really shocking. As a Singaporean myself, I think the Quater-finals were fun to watch. Still think Singapore wouldve won if it was irl.
There is a documentary called „The Other Final“, which shows the buildup and the match between Bhutan vs Montserrat (who were at the time the lowest ranked countries in the FIFA world rankings). Kind of reminds me of that…

Next, you could do a Next Best WC with the 32 teams that narrowly missed qualification for this year's WC with the same number of spots allotted to each confederation. Favorites would likely be Italy, Chile, Colombia and Nigeria (maybe Norway makes a run)

When you called it the "worst World cup" I thought this was going to be a little disrespectful towards lesser footballing nations. But actually you made this brilliantly! You made it humorous, while still being genuinely interested in the games and results. I also love how you tried to pronounce the player names even though you're likely not familiar with any of them. A lot of content creators would have said just "I'm not even going to try pronouncing that" - so respect for the effort 👍
Welp, it is most of these teams are shites! they never could even qualify to local respectful continental prestige cup...most of times play in garbage cup sponsored by shitty energy drinks or crap Japanese motorcycle model.

Djibouti hipster right here. Back when I used to edit myself into FM as a wonderkid each I allways used to pick a rubbish football country as my primary nationality so that I didn't mess up the international game and Djibouti became my go to when I found them simply because of the name.

Ezra Walian... In my FM20 save, where I started in Portugal's 4th tier (not in ODFC, but in my hometown's team) I started to sign what I called "the best of the worst". Basically, I searched through some national teams with 100+ in ranking to get some of their best players. Mostly, it was a fruitless job. ALAS, there were three (!!) signings made from that, one mozambican that ended up not doing much, got dropped and easily forgotten by me (no, seriously, can't even remember his name, now), one heck of a young (was 21 yo, when i signed him) malaysian AM/striker that evolved with the team (they got 2 promotions and got to UCL group stage in 7 seasons with him) and got a prime Ezra Walian! And oh boy what an assister he was (I often played him as AM or winger, rarely as a striker).
Edit: In the improbable case anyone is wandering the malaysian's name was Mohd Faizal Zakaria and I am fairly sure he was a regen. I say "fairly" because in that same save I signed Stefano Turati (he does exist IRL in Sassuolo, I think?) fully believing he was a regen.
More enjoyable than the actual world cup! This should become an actual tournament, would be brilliant to watch some of the smaller nations and help develop the game.

@@zondor8123 that's true, the talent pool in Brunei is not as large in number as other countries making more harder for us to really develop various fields/crafts not just football. But the development of the sport has gone downhill in recent years especially with the pandemic. So yeah some of the factors are talent, management, and budget. Some..

Watching the stream, I'm pretty sure you selected only players that were *based* in the nation as opposed to national team players? That explains why no Liechtenstein players generated, and top players from other teams (Kaltak for Vanuatu, Awad for Somalia etc.) didn't generate

Indonesia is not as bad as you’d think, they are a force to be reckon with in the SEA region, they even qualified for the 2024 Asian Cup
They are also like the 5th biggest country in the world.
so I just did a deep dive on song ui-young, and he's actually quite a good player. he's a flexible midfielder who can even play as a false nine. he reminds me of debruyne in some ways, so maybe he could be a mezzala. he's technical and good at turning and crossing, and also through balls. he's strong, fast, works hard, and isn't afraid to try things on the field. his wikipedia calls him one of the most technical and accomplished players in the singaporean league. i'd say 100% sign him if you can on FM if he's around your league's level. he's good at positioning in posession, but not very good at positioning on defense, but his work rate makes up for this a little.

I've been explained countless times by friends and neighbors why Indonesia is such a bad team when they have a giant population and football is the number 1 sport. I kind of get it... but how they are in with this lot is still beyond me. And I'm still surprised they won,,,

Simple, achievement in sport (especially really physical sports like football) is super strongly related to economic level and prevalence of malnutrition (especially consumption of meat). It has *very* little to do with population count, just look at countries like Bangladesh which never won any medals in Olympic Games so far.
Conversely, the *real* anomaly are those rich countries whose football is their number one (or close to number one) sport that do equally terribly, such as Malaysia and Singapore (yes it's not that small, it has 6-7 million people which is larger than Uruguay, most Balkan and Central European countries).
