shmovement type game
This game is so GOOD man. It’s so damn smooth to play. A fully kitted out Sybil is so smooth, combining multiple different game mechanics, lots of fun platforming challenges with good rewards at the end

this has become my favorite 2023 game.. im so fed for some years already of high fidelity games which age poorly
I found the combat really easy but it didn't detract from my appreciation of the aesthetics :) The platforming I also found very fun!
There's a demo effectively on itchio that has the same 20 minutes you can play yourself. The game plays great. Combat sorta sucks but that's not the point. Strongly recommend.

Pretty sure schmoovement is just a thing simpleflips and his twitch chat came up with so it's basically SM64 related highly skill-based movement.
"Schmoovement" is a term that seems to have grown out of the Smash Bros community, referring to video game movement mechanics that involve very smooth fluid motion and skilled inputs.
Ultrakill is about schmovement.
I know it's purposefully done, but the fact that the main character's animations don't interpolate at all while everything else (almost) constantly runs at 60fps is really, really, _really_ offputting to me, even if otherwise the movements looks competent.
If it wasn't for that, I'd give the game a shot, but my eyes can't handle it the way it is right now.
There's an option in the settings to disable that.
Yeah its weird because N64 games didnt do that. Mario 64, DK64, OoT, etc. didnt do that.

Weird that interp being turned off is the default, since that'll be what most people see and many might be turned off from that, like me.
@@Kniffel101 only works for the player character though, enemies are still low framerate. i personally like the way it looks but it would be a nice for a comprehensive option

I really wanted to play this, but just watching this video gave me motion sickness. I'm not sure if it's the camera or the character's movement, but I had to stop watching because I was getting queasy. :(

If its because of the character low framerate animation, you can enable the option to have 60fps animations

People need to separate their fetishes from their character design and stop trying to normalize their fetish.
The one thing that irks me about this game and that doesn't fit the style at all IMO is the choppy animation. It's like it wants to mimic a hand drawn animation style but nothing else about it is that way. None of the games it takes inspiration from has that, and it doesn't bring anything of value to it. All it does is make it feel and look worse.
If that's the only thing preventing you from playing this, then you can disable the 'retro animations' in the options menu.
I can look at 8/16 bit style games and think yeah that looks great, but this era was just ugly. It needs something more.

The fact that the character was such so as to invite a “Rouge the bat” comparison, is definitely a downside from my personal perspective.
I don’t really want to play a game where the player character is a furry where commentators would describe the character as seemingly meant to be attractive.
Too bad, as it otherwise looks interesting enough.
Oh well.
Fortunately, there's now an accessibility option to give her pants, so you can play without having those confused feelings.

This looks less like a good n64 game and more like a bad platform of the eta a la Gex.

I love Jeremy and Danny but I cannot stand Frank. I wish he was in fewer videos, he's uninteresting and asks the most inane questions combined with this endless ignorance and contrariness about older games makes anything involving him too frustrating to enjoy.

@@casey_suxI get that an interviewer needs to be the voice of ignorance in order to represent the viewer but Frank seems to know nothing about games from the N64. It doesn't sound like he is speaking from experience but regurgitated opinions he's heard other people make. I find his style very grating. Boss battles can be "Really brutal, really cheap or so simple." So they can be anything? He makes so many statements like this as if any option the game chose would be a negative.
