The fact you can open any DankPods video without ever having watched any other, and understand what he is speaking about is insane. We always get an explanation of the terms, yet it only takes a few seconds to not annoy people who does know.
My only confusion when first watching DankPods was the 1 grit - but never anything about the audio related topics, because he explains it so well (and yet so fast)
Even the inside jokes are pretty understandable if you've never watched the channel.
yah, talks about thing in terms of sensation, like you kinda get it implicitly, you know? Not in terms of technicalities and jargon.
Which I do think has its place when you get to really technical high level enthusiast discussions, but this is really nice for everyone.

I just got the Samson SR850s recently, and they sound fantastic! Truly incredible for the price. I was a little worried when I first held them due to them feeling so light, but they truly spoke to me. Sound is comparable to headphones 6-8 times their price. Earl Sweatshirt and John Coltrane have never sounded so amazing.
This is the beginning of my headphone journey. It only goes up from here.
Thank you, DankPods.
I got the same ones and was disappointed to see that the rtings consensus states that the superlux 681s are better in every way, and that the samsons have bad treble accuracy, which I agree with. I also don't really like the feel that much. To each his own though. Good luck on your journey!
Honestly once i got the samsons I stopped using my Audio Technica M50x's. The samsons are lighter and I can wear them for longer.
Plus i use Sonarworks to balance out the frequencies from both, so sound wise they arent that different

"Enjoying"
Love your videos mate, you just have such an engaging, interesting delivery, makes everything sound epic lol.
A little tip from an HD 58x owner: take out the foam on the outward-facing side of the drivers. This mod improves the cans by literal miles. To get the foam out, you take off the pads and the foam its resting against, take a long, thin implement like a screwdriver and put it through one of the holes on the cups, and then carefully push the metal mesh out from the earcup. Just take the foam out of the mesh, put the mesh back in, and re-install the pads. When I first got the 58x's, it sounded like I was listening to music with socks over my ears. Then I did this mod and the detail just picked right up, it's great.
a hero pop out of nowhere
I would argue otherwise. While taking the foam out might improve the sound (subjective), it would be at the cost of exposing your headphone drivers to dust and what not. Worse case scenario, you accidentally knock off your drink and some of it enters the driver. The foam is there for a reason.
Now, you could argue then why the HD600 doesn't have a foam as well? my answer is that the exposed driver is well protected by its inner plastic housing.
Nah, sound wise it doesn't do anything. Sennheiser confirmed this, in their massdrop forum they mentioned how the foam is acoustically invisible. The foam makes no difference to the sound, it is only there to protect against dust and other yucky stuff.
On top of what the others have said, this voids your warranty with massdrop. Overall, just not a good idea.
@@mikumaven I'd still remove em after the warranty expires to get that HD600 look tho lol

Simply amazing video, probably gonna be coming back to this for a while as needed. Do you have any short advice for saving your ears’ health if you’re a musician?
Well done you mad bugger, you got me to start thinking more about headphones and I bought a pair of HD599s to go on my desk (alongside the hyperx cloud 2 I already had). You've now cost me £150 in a few months of watching, HD599s and KZs. I hope you're happy
(you should be)
'I'm at the backflip tournament still' xDDDD
And here I am, listening to the Superluxes with my own Superluxes, snapping my fingers not quite in time to canned jazz.
Im dissapointed that i didnt get to listen to KZ's with my own ones :/
fucking yes to this comment, hope you had a great fucking day gamergod91
Hi im considering buying superluxes, do you think theyre good for metal and rock and things like that?
@@Ferrari255GTO I got the ZSN Pro Xs on his recommendation. I see a lot of people here got them too.

Bought those because of DankPods
Samson SR850 are just amazing, really wide, clear and picky sound, the bass is not loud by any means but tight and quick!
My first good-old headphones were HD439, nice times as a teenager
I just want to appericate the amount of time it took for Dank to focus on the freakish ears on the stand painting
In *every* single sound test.
It doesn't take that long to get the effect
..well at least not in Filmora idk about actual quality softwares
I like the zoom but it takes like a second to do. And you copy paste it after in your timeline
The painting man will always be there, judging the headphones that come his way, showing no mercy, he's only friends with the HD600
Love you channel soo much it is making me happy and prob make other people happy.
The fact his subs and views are almost absolutely equal just proves the amazing ness of this content, I cook wash dishes and clean listening to these videos, my type of asmr

i dont care what mic he is gonna use im still gonna listen to all of his stories
My favorite was the one where he stole all the oil from McDonalds and turned the parking lot into a skating rink for cars.
@@QuarTheDev My favorite is when he crashed his dad's car when he went out shopping with his mom. His mom was mad the groceries were destroyed, his dad was mad that the car was wrecked.

I love his random microphone Demos he does 😆
Just got the Samson sr850s and i love them thanks so much man
i cant unsee that painting, now i expect it to look at me whenever I listen to that song
God it's refreshing to see someone take a step away from the snobbery of headphones and bring some actual personality into the vids. keep up the amazing work
One of my favorite videos from you ❤️
The Superlux headphones are great!!!! I even got a pair of replacement pads and double pads for inside the ear cup, they are much more comfortable now! They should nice with my FIIO E07K. amp DAC!
“Plastic fantastic” is probably my new favorite phrase lol
It's been around since Aqua released "Barbie Girl"
@@pvshka maybe before? Probably since the word plastic has been around.
@@pvshka Plastic Fantastic Lover is a song by Jefferson Airplane from 1967!
That phrase gets bandied about a ton in the photography world, mostly to describe lenses that are cheaply made but have sharp optics. I didn't realize it was really used outside of the camera world tbh
does anyone actually listen to what he's saying in the stories? The long lost dad one just had me dying
Those stories are the reason I'm here.
Those Mic stories keep me coming back, among other reasons.
I always listen to them
someone should compile all of them into a single video
@@wesleymays1931 someone already did and they update when a new one just search "dankpods mic test"
I love this video. So good for some cheapy headphones that aren't too janky, and has some decent sounds. I'm just looking for a simple ones for cameramen. So dankpods vids are good especially this one and other related headphone vids. Thanks mate
Thanks to you, I'm getting AKG K52s!! I'm getting gear for content creation and I have you to thank for recommending good headphones to me and others! Love you, Dankpods!
Why not get some IEMs instead?
@@d3viLang3LFall3n Been living off of cheap earphones for a while, and besides, there aren't really any good IEMs where I live, so the AKGs were a lucky find even with over-priced customs. I also just prefer over-ears.
@@PhroggiusPhrog if you can, import the 7hz Zero. Thing is amazing.
The best advice I ever got when taking lessons in audio engineering/producing was to always listen to the mix on a phone speaker to get a good feel for how it would sound on the cheap stuff.
Only with good equipment can you tell when a track is intentionally distorted. On everything else, you'd think it was just the speaker. deadmau5 - Ghosts 'n' Stuff opening kick vs the rest of the track.
@@zoomzabba452 You don't need good equipment to tell that, you need not shit equipment
we need a microphone testing stories compilation from this man.
I love the sample sound test, worth a million words. Clearly one can tell how each pair sounds and perform with the little chart underneath the ear thing. So precise and yet eaters are cute🎉🎉🎉
I picked up a pair of Sennie Momentums on sale several years ago and they've been my go-to as a quality set of headphones since. You can pick up refurbished sets on eBay for like $50, totally worth for value sound.
