  • For over a quarter of a century, Concorde was the world's only successful supersonic airliner, carrying passengers at speeds faster than a rifle bullet, 23 miles a minute, 'buying back time' and arriving in New York before you left London.
As Chief Concorde Pilot for British Airways, Mike Bannister knows her like no one else. From displaying Concorde with the Red Arrows over London to landing her back at Heathrow on her last scheduled flight in October 2003, he has seen Concorde's full journey.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the iconic aircraft’s last flight, yet he is still faced with the same questions:-
    • What was it really like to travel faster than the Sun, on the edge of space, where the sky got darker, and you could see the curvature of the Earth?
    • Why is she no longer flying?
    • Where is her replacement?
    • And what really happened on that tragic afternoon in July 2000, when the crash of Flight 4590 grounded the Concorde forever?
With his book, ‘Concorde’, he shares the inside story of this unique and awe-inspiring aircraft for the first time, including his role in the investigation to uncover what really happened when Concorde fell to earth on 25th July 2000.

A fascinating book. The investigation into the crash of the French Concorde has so many parallels with the Mt Erebus saga in Antarctica. In fact, there was nothing new and the same investigation mistakes made. As for the French legal system, so much better than that which the pilots families suffered in New Zealand. But I don’t suppose anyone will believe me unless they look at the Chippindale accident report, and then the Royal Commission of Inquiry by his honour Peter Mahon. Then the appeal court and Privy Council. All rubbish and still to be corrected after 44 years. At least the French legal system got most of the corrections made but not the NZ and UK legal systems.
Basically the NZ state committed a fraud on the families of the victims in order to limit the payouts to the maximum under the Warsaw Convention of NZ$42000. The NZ prime minister was involved in the conspiracy.
