- Mike Bannister is an aviation consultant and former pilot. He became the youngest pilot on the Concorde fleet in 1977, was appointed the airline’s Chief Concorde Pilot in 1995 and regularly flew as Captain on all of the aircraft’s routes worldwide. He was at the controls when the British Airways’ Supersonic Flagship returned to service in November 2001, and commanded and flew the final Concorde commercial flight from New York to London on October 24th 2004. By the time Concorde retired Mike had amassed over 9,200 Concorde flight hours - around 6,900 at supersonic speeds. For over ten years he was extensively involved as an expert witness and lead technical advisor in the ‘Air France Concorde Trial.’ He now runs an Aviation Consultancy and resides in Middlesex, UK. His book 'Concorde' is a must read for budding pilots and anyone fascinated with speed and iconic machines. In conversation with Steve Ancsell.

It's always lovely to listen ot Mr. Bannister and his stories.
Superb book, I also have it on audiobook. Thanks, Mike!!
Amazing book
I'm reading the book now it's fascinating. Full of details. Would recommend it.
The ultimate job title you could possibly have on your CV. Chief Concorde Pilot British Airways. There is something about these guys, Mike and John Hutchinson, makes you just want to stop and listen
Having watched Mike's almost identical presentation at Brooklands (pretty much word for word, joke for joke) this audience really lacks a sense of humour compared to the Brooklands audience.
is it possible to watch video Mike have prepared for this event at 39:05 🤔
Sadly, copyright prevents us using that video.
@@iwlitfest got it, anyway thank you for reply!
It'll be 20 years THIS YEAR. Not 2022 🤦🏻♂️
I'm convinced if you sawd Mike Bannister in half there wouldn't be organs and a spine etc etc. You would see four a breast seating and overhead compartments......... The guy literally has Concorde in his bones.
