In this video I show you how to install a backup camera on your car or trailer! The video features a new product from Boscam, the K7 wireless backup camera. The wireless camera and monitor have a 33 foot range, which makes the K7 a great solution for a backup camera for a long vehicle or trailer, where traditional wired backup cameras might be difficult or impossible to install.

Seriously by far the clearest explanation I have found. You didn't spend 100000 mins showing how to open the box and remove things, which most of us can manage. You did show clearly how to do the camera install, and now I feel like I can do it, rather than pay someone $200-300 to do it. Thank you.
I just installed mine in my 2008 Ford F-150 pickup. It was harder to take out of the box than it was to install after watching your video. I pulled the left rear light assembly out first and examined the holes and then checked my bumper. I decided to just drill a hole at the center top of my license plate and attach it with a self-threading screw. Easy. Then I used the spicers to attach the ground and live wires to the backup bulb. I almost screwed that up. It took me a little fiddling to drop the wired down the hole so I could connect the plug, that not bad. Connected it all. Got the screen and mount into the truck, put in the 12v socket, and fired right up. Started the truck and put it into reverse and it worked. Firs time. I wish I could give you ten stars. Put the light back in and closed the pickup bed and now I am done. Thanks.
Video explained very easy and simple way to connect this camera. Thank you!!
Thank you for taking the time to make this video, very helpful
You should do an update on the camera to tell us if it has held up over the past 2 yrs.
Very, very helpful. Its made me realise I can actually do this myself. Thank you..
That unboxing was extremely soothing 🙏🏼
Thanks, really well described install which will make mine much easier next weekend. 👍👍
Great job and interesting to watch you set it all up. Thanks for taking the time :)
Thank you!!
Thanks for making this video tutorial
Watched at least 20 of these install videos. Yours is the first one that really helps with the wiring. Thanks!
Good video. Thanks from Germany
Great video! Clear and detailed
Great example bro!
Very well done video thank you , 10k plus views and only 109 likes c'mon guys do the right thing.
Nice, thanks a lot!
Notification bell squad 👌🏼 haha
haha thanks man!!
Hi thanks for excellent work for showing how to install boscam k7 into the vehicle please can tell me if any car doesn’t have car charger or cigarettes lighter adapter. In that case how to get power supply for connecting the camera thanks once again
Hi Great Video easiley explained thank you got this the next day so easy to fit I'am a senior person and I was able to do it one thing everytime I use car to go somewhere it reverts back to mirror image GRRR! when I set it at normal view is there any way of storing that normal view when selected at menu thanks again
Thanks
So, hows it holding up after a couple of years mister? Great video by the way!
Where can you buy a 2nd matching camera as it says Dual camera?
Does the screen show a split image for both cameras or just one at a time?
Hi, what's the screen viewing angle like? Thanks
So you have shown the trailer at a standstill. However, how is the camera when you do 60mph +? because when you moving the signal interference increases. Reason is I am thinking of using this inside the horse trailer to make sure the horses are ok
So I get the Wireless for longer RVs etc.. but for a car. And since you have to run wires anyways. Would a camera that is just all HardWired. Not preform better? Faster, Clearer always on?
Does polarity matter when you huck up the camera to the reverse lights?
Does the camera works if I just connect it straight to the car battery?
just a suggestion, if you were to wire it to the license plate light then it would also work as an observation camera when your driving lights are on.
ay that's true, would be easier to attach to the license plate light too and wouldn't have to run the wire far.
Does this item also have an audio alarm as well as the video? Thank you.
Can I connect to my trailer wire harness instead of my rear lights?
can the camera be mounted on the inside of a hatch back window. Looking through the window out. Thanks, Rudy
Yea, I do it with my other dash cam and it's the same style of camera
I would very much like to view your trailer mounted video. How can I reach you to find out if you’ve done it yet. Peter Papp, Michigan
How its working
I’m pulling a 30 ft boat. Can I install this on the back of the boat trailer and use it as a rear view mirror AT NIGHT so I’m sure I passed safely a car/truck. Night vison is important, do headlights blind the image? Reactions and experience sharing is appreciated
Did you ever try this? Have a 30ft boat as well
@@dustinwills3858 yes, worked fine, had to wind down brightness, as headlights were to bright. to bad that you can't turn off the parking guidance lines. for the money recommended
Did this install, to the book and now my back up lights do not work at all .... hoping I just blew a fuse!
Couldn't you connect it to the license plate bulb for constant output and super easy install?
Of course! I connected to a running light so I can control when the camera comes on and off, instead of only coming on when in reverse, the running light I used happened to be a taillight, same thing would happen if it's connected to the plate bulb which goes on and off with the headlights.
So did you ever install on your trailer? And where's the video. Trying to figure out where to mount mine.
hey it's been a few years. Is the camera still working? I just bought one. Thanks for the vid.
It does still work, I don't use it often cuz I use it with my trailer, which I don't tow that often. It's great peace of mind to know I'm not hitting anything while backing up. Choppy signal while driving on the road, but to be fair the camera is 36' away from the screen AND behind the trailer after all.
@@aDIYCarGuy that's weird cuz you clearly showed that you installed it on your car
@@--Harley The rearview camera is installed on my trailer ahole, the screen is in my car. I showed how to install the camera on a car since that's what most people will be doing, doesn't mean it's still on my car. Listen to what I say at 0:30
@@aDIYCarGuy all good bro, ya my fault cuz I fast forwarded to get right to the install, but you don't need to get all triggered cuz it makes you look like the ahole
I wish I could find where you installed it on your trailer. Anyone know?
Just tap it into the reverse light wiring or running light wiring depending on what circumstance within which you would like the camera to come on. I didn't show on the trailer because it's the same wiring principle as on the car.
Can you wire this to your license plate light for power?
No as that only comes on when you turn your lights on. For use as a back up camera, you need to wire it to the back-up light so it comes on every time you put the car in reverse.
@@DavidCharles-wi4qr So if I'm just backing out of the garage. Why can't I just turn on the lights for that? It's really difficult to wire to the back Light on a 2012 toyota Rav 4
1:33 tingles
Covering up the “Y” in New Jersey may get you a ticket as well as mounting the screen on the windshield in the driver’s view area may get you a second ticket, so I’ve been told.
That's interesting, and probably true
i want to put it in fornt of my car, on the nose, thats posible?
yea, just wire it to 12v somehow
Thanks a lot man
The camera has night vision?
no but you can see stuff when the reverse lights are on while backing up
Is this called wireless camra. With wires.
haha
Almost just need a 7 inch screen
not WIRELESS
Yea, it is, meaning there are no wires from the monitor to the camera. The cam has wires that connect to the trailer lights to tell it WHEN to come on. So you can take the monitor into a different tow vehicle easily.
Hi, what's the screen viewing angle like? Thanks
