  • THE TRUTH ABOUT POOR QUALITY LUXURY GOODS - I wanted to share with you an updated version of this video, showing the damaged and poor quality designer / luxury items I have bought over the years that are shocking in terms of quality.
    Most of the time, you wouldn’t realize until it’s too late and you can’t return the item, so I thought I’d share. Includes Chanel Boy bag review, Hermes Click Bracelet, Chanel earrings, Valentino Rockstud heels and a couple of items from Louis Vuitton!

    • @ColoringKaria
      @ColoringKaria Před 4 lety +64

    • @pavladavlas
      @pavladavlas Před 4 lety +304

      ColoringKaria because people who aren’t as knowledgeable about big designer brands or are trying to get premium designer products won’t know how to spot a bad product, and reviews like this help those people see what’s worth the money and what isn’t. Also, most high fashion designer labels do not issue refunds.

    • @ColoringKaria
      @ColoringKaria Před 4 lety +14

      @@pavladavlas actually thats not true. they all have some kind of refund policy. you just usually have a few days 7 or 14. but if product is defective almost all these brands LV, hermes, chanel will offer an exchange or repair up to 1 year free of charge and a repair for a fee from then on. some repairs are even free. I know I just my 10 year old LV key case repaired for free.

    • @ColoringKaria
      @ColoringKaria Před 4 lety +8

      Ok I’m rereading what I wrote. Nope I didn’t say that. I *DID* say that If she had a problem with the quality she could take it in for a refund *OR* repair (which sometimes means they just give you a new one). No one should use something and expect a full refund. But if it’s brand new and there is a problem with quality a refund or repair will be offered. If she’s had it for years than no refund should be expected but a repair often for free will be offered. I also *did* say that your claim that refunds are never offered is false. If the item is new usually less than 2 weeks old a refund will be offered if the product is resellable or if it is defective. I know this to be a 100% fact. That does not mean that a repair/replacement/refund are the same thing (Apparently that’s a thing that needs to be said.) depending on the age and condition of the product you will get offered one or more of those options.

    I repair and restore leather goods (aka shoes and bags) for a living, and must say that the worst I have encountered is Balenciaga bags. The leather is thinner than paper and is glued onto cardboard, which then disintegrates when being used. And then the leather tears. I've seen Primark bags that are better quality.

      She sounds like my Mum. Growing up, my Mum worked on Bank St and we lived in north London. I remember Mum would dress normally at home with us, but her work clothes were so posh and we weren't allowed anywhere near her work gear. I remember her on the phone ripping into a shop with her dry observations and calm tone. They zipper on a work dress had been repaired by them twice and had broken a third time.
      As an adult, I realize just how expensive her work clothes were. My Dad was a fireman in London and was retired from the military, we got to play with his work gear, I thought she was just being a bitch. But hey, we got to play with gas masks, and pull on suspender yellow rubber trousers and all sorts of stuff. I've learned to appreciate my mother didn't have a large wardrobe of clothes, but a limited selection of high quality clothes that she saved up for and planned carefully.

    Vegan “leather” is PLASTIC. So you are correct, that’s why it feels and sounds like that way. It is “polyvinyl chloride” or PVC, which is another word for plastic. Or polyurethane which is (shocker) also plastic. Never pay the luxury price for vegan leather because it is literally just not worth it unfortunately:(
    If you are vegan and care about the environment and of course don’t support animal cruelty do not but vegan leather because it is not biodegradable anyway so a good alternative is a cotton bag or a cork bag :) hope this helps!

      I love animals but I supporting having leather and even fur. Sorry, fur is the warmest and most durable material for cold winters and lasts more than a lifetime . With leather, people eat meat so it's the leftovers of an animal. With fake leather and fake fur, their production itself is toxic and done in poor countries abusing poor workers and the waste is being dumped into the nature. So... It's not even better alternative! What's is the best option? Having quality things that will last you more than 10 years, be it fake or real. Fake, though, from many experiences and countless testimonies, isn't worth it. Not yet. But the technology is getting better, so, keep the mind open.

    This is my unbiased view: High Polish Metal finishing are prone to scratches. Luxury items are not indestructible. They're just as prone to damage and deterioration as a $30 item.
    A lot of Luxury fashion houses don't have "in-house" artisans. Most of them source from third party artisans. As for metal accessories, precious metal plated brass/silver components: the electroplating can rub off pretty fast since they're not capped and friction due to design flaw can accelerate wear.
    Remember that most of these luxury items are nothing more but status symbols and designs that you enjoy wearing.
    If you really want to wear metal accessories or jewelries then go for solid precious metal alloy.
    As for leather goods, that's up to you but know that "luxury" leather goods will age like "lower-tier" leather goods. They're the same material.

    • @SimonFanProductions
      @SimonFanProductions Před 5 lety +5

      @WakinTheDeadFan Precious metal such as gold, palladium, rhodium, iridium, platinum, and tantalum in alloy form are hard enough that they're not malleable enough so they can maintain shape and they're inert so they don't tarnish or oxidize.
      I don't know what's "affordable" to your personal definition and standard so I'm staying away from that context.

      I agree. Prada has downgraded its quality over the years. It is a known industry fact. The owner wanted to maximize profits after the brand, which was not well known until the middle nineties, received the stamp of approval from the celebrity market. I still have some RTW from one of the early collections that I bought in Raspini in the 80s. It was much higher quality. Unfortunately the bags were fashion but never of the highest quality neither in construction or materials. I was a big fan for many years mostly 80s and 90s. It went down hill.

Don't even bother with outlet stores or especially outlet malls, they all have mass produced and specifically designed to be of less quality just for the outlet. Have you even wondered why they all have 'new arrivals' that are in the season? That's why. Don't believe that 'overstocked' crap, no sane business would waste millions of 'overstocking' each season. Go for fair trade, eco-friendly quality brands that are lesser known but offer genuine quality. How to spot quality? There are so many good youtube videos on that. Get people educated.

The shoemaker groaned and told me that Gucci has poor quality (and many other luxury brands as well) and proceeded to show me what was used on the inside of each of the leather links to give them structure - CARDBOARD! I would think it would be in Chanel's best interest to give you replacement earrings for what it must cost to keep shipping them back to Paris. Thanks for this advice. What I’ve learnt is High designer brands these days have become so commercial that it’s all about the bottom line. How much money they can make . When in reality they have sacrifice on quality and service. I’ve also notice that their quality have become so flimsy that there’s honestly no difference between a (example) Coach etc...

    I laughed so hard at the "It sounds like a PLASTIK BAG!" remark on the Stella McCartney-thing. Yeah. It's vegan. So what should it be other then some kind of fabric and plastic-coating???

    You are so funny. The exaggerated emotion you have while telling of a bad product is priceless. Love you

    Thank you for sharing I have been eyeing a boy at our Chanel in Nordstrom boutique and I’m glad I saw this first. I’ll continue to save for the lady Dior first

    Thank you for letting us know about your experiences. It is needed. Considering the price tags, these products need to meet a higher level of quality, and if they fail the manufacturers need to answer for it.

    Wow! Thank you Sophie for this! Incredible.
    I have just a 'plain' good ol' Radley full leather for a few months. Worn it daily and not really cared if it gets scratched or anything. Have pushed my whole "house" into it (just a medium bag) with force closing etc. Looks like brand new still and has zero scratches! Plus looks beautiful, classic/timeless look, elegant.
