Can we give this man some props. He buys a broken console off eBay, has it shipped to him only to have to wait again to order some parts. Only CZcamsr I know that takes this much time and effort to produce a video for us to enjoy. Thanks Elliot!

@Critical Unity What's cringe?
@Critical Unity you cringe really easily holy crap
I was mad confused the min he came out from under the table in the intro lol, def liking these new intro styles
A few months back I bought a 'faulty' n3DS that wouldnt charge or turn on for about $20. I changed the battery to test, and it worked just fine. Charged as well. I thought, all it needs is a new battery. I put the battery in my other 3ds to see if it would charge JIC, and it charged just fine. So it needed no fixing, just the battery being drunk.
I have one of those AA Chargers that has the protection circuitry in it and it wouldn't charge some of my AA's but I bought one of those really shady Chargers on eBay and Walla I got the batteries to charge.
That is a common fault with Nintendo consoles. Just a bad battery. I keep stacks of extra batteries I pull from dead consoles.
Lol you have been blessed by God a 20 dollar ds and the battery + tools cost
I find deals like that all the time in thrift stores. I dunno what it is but every time I walk into somewhere like Value Village, there's a Wii sitting on a shelf for like $20
@@aidancommenting idk if it has changed but back in 2015/16 you could not sell a wii (by itself no controllers or games) for $20
3DS top screens are difficult to replace. Bummer this didn't work out the way it should have but glad you at least it working somewhat.
I’ll order up the parts again and make a follow up vid! Thanks for stopping by! :)

10:10 Those markings are usually an inspector's initials or ID. They have to confirm that the item/components went through QC
came to say this, took apart an xbox one controller i bought new and it had those markings. They are a sign that it was good!
My atomic purple Game Boy Color had similar letters visible through the clear shell, when I was a kid. I never gave hand written pen markings on boards a second thought.
Woh so cool
Basically anything has them on, I've seen them on calculators, gameboys, consoles ect
Yeah I was going to say the same thing. Tons of boards have writing on them
6:35 “that’s glass I’m going to put that down.” *picks it up again*
Elliot:i think it has been run over
Literally one second later:it doesn’t look like it is on too bad condition
I'm convinced that this guy can fix anything.
I absolutely adore these types of videos
Keep the great work up!
A very talented guy indeed.
what a beautiful poem
@@ciggyazealia yeahh lol😄
huh? he didn't actually fix anything... he just traded half the parts lol
@@pbakai182 make a video so we all can see how talented you are.
@@ivar1827 uhm, you dont need to be talented to criticize something, its like saying you have to be a chef to tell what good food is. it makes no sense
I might be high as fuck but you made me realize repairing stuff like this isn't that difficult, most of it looks like little modules you can replace. The hard work is being patient to move and take things appart carefully, and also being extremelly organized. You did both perfectly, your video set and editing are so neat and tiddy and I can see it being reflected on your repairs as well, it's nice how some generic qualities like organization and patience can be extrapolated to all kinds fields and are always useful. All this to say, you are great at what you do and you earned my high ass as a suscriber.
Crazy to think those went for 200 - 300 bucks only a few years ago. Keep up the great work, mate!
sorry everything is a pain rn. love the videos, still entertaining.
Wew hi
Hello sc6ut, love your vids

Hey, I just want to say I've really been enjoying your videos while stuck at home. Whether you end up able to fully repair whatever you started with, it's still fun to see the journey of taking the things apart to diagnose problems, and seeing what you're able to do with the components. Keep it up!
Your editing is amazing on these with all the different shots and the music just make it really relaxing. Thanks again for the awesome content.
Thank you very much!
I always love how some things you do in the video matches to the background music's beat/tempo (like flicking a ribbon cable switch) 👍 Good stuff!
it's been quite some time since i've ordered a modern console in need of some love and care and attention and repair.
My man Lil Retro having some spicy bars
Absolutely loved the relaxing music during the teardown, keep up the great videos Elliot!
My one quarantine remedy. The Retro Future. Very good job like always Elliot.
Just found this channel and I love it! I’m thinking of repairing things as a hobby now too you are awesome
I've been binge watching your videos man!
Love them!!
I love the chill videos when you just play some chill smooth jazz and fix stuff
Love the music you set your montages to. So good.
Hats off to you. True recycling and grand work on the idea to repair broken systems :D
I really like how you organize all the part and pieces into bag. I’m going to borrow this idea
so therapeutic to watch. love your choice in music good video
Awesome work in trying to rebuild a full 3DS from trash to cash. I hope you continue making more wonderful videos. I am enjoying them so far.
I've been getting interested in rebuilds lately, I have the same 3ds with a broken screen sitting in my drawer that I've been wanting to repair but afraid to take it apart because of all the sentive parts, but you just gave me the confidence to start playing around, if I break it oh well, thanks for this 2 years after the original upload such usefu info 😊
"Its not glass as far as Im aware, its ummmm, sort actually, no this is definately glass, I'm gonna put that down." As he sets it down and picks it up two seconds later.
6:32- 6:40
Good video mate, liked the background music.
I heard changing the 3ds from japanese to english is a right ordeal and it can break the eshop among other things, you migth have to just list as is and sell to a collector who wants to play japanese games, or list it internationally (although japan post is completely shut right now because of Recent World Events™)
Pretty easy to add cfw on 3ds some really good step by step guides
@@Spardin I agree CFW isn't that hard on the 3DS and that region unlocks it. You'd still have the Japanese language but I heard you can change the 3DS region via cfw
@@joaquindayrit5746 yeah it's a extra step not too big of a problem
Joaquin Dayrit you can fully change the 3DS to English with CFW
Just hack it. Having a 3ds and not hacking it is a crime, same as a psp. It just takes it from being an objectively worse rehash of the ds to a great machine.
0:10 the way your face lit up was so childlike and pure, wholesome
“For you that will be 2 seconds” *2 seconds later* oculus quest ad
i appreciate your hard work into making this great content, i find it very interesting, relaxing and valuable
That shell piece that's broken - I have a brand new one in the same colour that you can have for free if you like. Let me know if you want me to send it.
I recently reshelled one of these and ordered 2 by mistake. Reassembling it was incredibly painful, I hate working on the 3ds XL, it is horrific. I also had the same issue with the missing pad on my replacement screen - is that definitely not correct? Mine is missing the screen lens so I assumed that's why my 3D isn't working (I assumed the lens was a polariser).
Yea, the 3D uses a polarizer
You did such a beautiful job. It looks like the prototype of of the model they were supposed to make. I feel like they would have made the body a little wider to compensate for the screen. Ugh I wish they made this. Love the nostalgia bomb ♥️
Just wanna say, I love watching your videos. You do great work 😎👍
13:55 LMAO that made me smile, that's basically how i feel whenever i modify / fix any of my handhelds, it's such a time consuming task but so rewarding
You have the best intro because it’s quiet & there’s no annoying BS. Plus it’s short.
Great editing!
love the video dude
I feel your pain when it comes to dealing with the ribbon cables on the new 3ds xl. About a year ago I had bought a used one that had a pretty grimy shell so I eventually bought a new shell for it and man was that the most tedious thing. I was so worried I was going to break the cables because of how little room they actually have to fit.
Definitely not what I expected, but still a great save! Love the content, keep up the good work and stay health!
Love those close up shots
It's a thing of beauty watching you take it apart
"is it over yet?" hahaha! I think I wet myself at this scene! Great vlog Elliot. Really good editing and the music was absolutely on point. Maybe you can have a word with your mate Vince and tell him to knock the classic music on the head! Lol
Love your videos bud, top job as always
This was some beautiful video editing
Love the vids, always enjoy whatever it is your doing😊x
There's nothing quite like fixing a broken console and bringing it back to working order and good condition. Great video, mate.
From jacks channel, but guessed you lived in jersey after you said you lived on a small island. Well done mate 🇯🇪🤙🏻
Came here from jacks video, love the content dude earned a new subscriber(:
Oh man, I was thinking to send you a water damaged New3DS for an attempt repair, with the new components I bought as well... but after watching at the nightmare that it is to work in it, I changed my mind. Love your videos btw and I keep re watching them. Keep it up with the awesome content.
spitting bars right off the bat, great work yet again Elliot
Watching these videos makes me feel so calm and peaceful
We need retro future custom shells! I don't want to sticker bomb my Gameboys, but I'd love to rep your channel as most of us would love, I'm am sure. Thank you for everything you do, amazing content.
I love how he has 250k and still reads all the comments, it makes a huge impact in how a new subscriber feels when seeing your videos (btw I’m not new I have been subbed for almost a year)
Ahh, I would love to use homebrew to preserve the previous owner’s Pokémon forever! It makes me sad to think they’ll be erased for good. Still, this is a really awesome video! I’m glad I got to see this. ^^
When you came up from under the table that's how I feel everytime I have taken apart a 3ds lmao cheers man!
I love that hes using Joey Pecoraros music, honestly great choice
What was the name of the song he used?
I believe its Finding Parking
great content bro do more vids on repairing modern handheld consoles pls e.g. nintendo switch, more new 3ds’, ds lite etc
I couldn't believe it when I saw you in Jack's vid! I've been watching you for a pretty long time
Just love these vids man
Love that “Gubbins” phrase! I always associate that with Ashens. Great video too! 😊👍
I love fixing consoles, and waiting for snail mail is the worst. I waited a month for a PSP 2000 shell, and when my package arrived, it was a 3000 shell. So I definitely feel your pain with the screen mix-up.
Came from jacks channel love ur content 👍
excellent video as always! :)
Just watched the Jacks vid, nice vids!
Love your videos. You inspired me to refurbish my teal Game Boy Color. It was dropped and has had vertical lines on the screen for 15+ years. I put in a backlit TFT screen and a see through orange shell. I love it. Also, hope you aren't ordering parts from China during this time of Pandemic. If you did, be safe man.
the only kind of channel that plays good music unlike every other channel I have watched like this.
My mate vince uses some similar music
Why does your channel relax me? XD
Hi mate. I didn’t even know you had spoken to jack. I actually like both yours and jacks content.
I’ve almost never seen anyone who puts as much effort into their videos as you :0
yknow, just as a tip from a longtime viewer, I recommend you make a repair shop type of business, you could make lots of money just off your reputation alone, and extra fundings besides from Patreon to have higher funds for more videos for the fans!! You’re really good with these type of electronics and sees success in you, love your vids Elliot
Good video keep up the good work!!
The shell of that damaged n3dsxl is in better shape than the working one that i bought used, impressive

I think your editing skills are underrated, Broseph
nice choice of music, especially the jazz in the beginning. Way better than some obnoxious dubstep or other garbage.
Your channel is lowkey a hidden gem my friend
Waiting for your video on the retroid pocket!
Who does the music for your videos? Really like it!
I loved the old dsi’ when in the side there was a huge sd car. They didn’t get lost to easy lol
Same with the old model 3ds.
Keep up the great stuff!
I’ve got skillshare and used your link, it’s great 👍
what I saw on my upper screens ribbon cables on the 3ds's and I also read about this. the missing pad on the top screen ribbon cable is missing on all screens for the n3dsxl as I noticed. it must've been a normal thing to be missing. even if you see pictures on ebay of replacement screen and zoom you'll notice the missing pad on the ribbon cable. the issue with the 3ds in video must be related to other things. it can be really difficult to repair a n3ds or n3dsxl or any 3ds. Btw I'm a big fan of your channel and videos. keep em coming.
So much respect for showing what ended up happening. Sometimes online orders are not fairy tale endings.
I love how simple the 2DS is compared to this 3DS
It kind of has to be. As the extreme budget option any added complexity is also a lot of added price. That's why there's not even a hinge.
@@harriam0 And also why the "two screens" are actually just one large screen with a plastic bezel on the 2DS. Huge cost saving right there!
Love your vids
Hey Elliot, love your videos! I got a question, what kind of knife did you use to unbox the 3DS XL? It looks awesome! Thanks, and good luck with all your videos!
Great video!
"I'm gonna put that down" grabs it again🤣
If I was you I wouldn't reset that, It's got great games on it plus emulators. Great video mate
Love the channel, makes for cosy viewing! I have a question, you mentioned about checking the motherboard to see if it was bust and thus making the whole thing a right off. Does that ever happen? Like you start preparing a video only to realise that it's a no go as soon as you open the console up? Cheers.
Nice music and nice video m'dude
It might be a bit late, but the New 3DS XL has a pretty rare IPS screen variant, and replacing the ips panel by the other panel and vice versa without modifiying the console's software will cause it to have some issues such as, you guessed it, 3d not displaying properly. I've found out about this while looking for and IPS mod for my New 3DS XL
Everyone, protect your digitizers, there’s a digitizer robber about
You are the only person that I would put on the telly and actually watch for hours
Great vid! Don't think you can change the Japanese 3DS's to English though, you'll probably have to softmod / region change it.
