The reason Ohio has so many retro game stores is that if you live in Ohio your family meets with you and makes you pick a new hobby after your micro brewing phase gets too out of control. Other acceptable paths include roller coasters and college football.
Rhythm Heaven Megamix was quickly mentioned here but it's actually even more prevalent for this topic than it may seem. They recreated almost every minigame from the Wii entry. In fact, from the game's files it sounds like they might've originally planned it to be a port of the Wii game before they decided to make something different.
Monster Hunter 3U even had CROSSPLAY! A Wii U game, running natively on underpowered handheld hardware. It was so awesome. Could use the 3ds as a controller for Sm4sh, too (just a shame that's the only game that could do it. I'd have loved if Mario Kart could😅)
I think Xenoblade Chronicles 3D was the real entry point for all the fans, because I remember reviewers on YT raving about Xenoblade on the Wii but very few people I knew got to play it or even own it for how rare it was, but when it came out on 3DS it paved the way for the sequels on Switch, so I think it has its merit for giving relevance to the franchise, but of course if people want to get into Xenoblade Chronicles they are better of getting the Switch version, the 3DS version looks rough, it works, but it looks rough.
finished it recently and it is actually really fair. starts pretty easy, gets a little harder and by the endgame is challenging but not hard. great game, but tropical freeze is just better in everything that dkc returns (3d) does.
The next sequels to this vídeo: ●Wii U Games on 3DS. ●N64 Games on 3DS. ●Gamecube Games on 3DS. ●DS Games on 3DS. ●3DS Games on Switch ●Wii Games on Nintendo Switch. Right?
When it comes to Xenoblade Chronicles 3D you forgot to mention that it is the only version of the 1st game that has amiibo support. The shulk amiibo can be used once a day to get in game coins to use in gacha coins for new music to hear and models to view in the music player and model viewer to raffle. It baffles me the definitive version omitted that music and model modes and also the amiibo functionality. I know the 3ds version gets a ton of flack but its still my preferred way to play the game lol Also that 3ds eShop music at the end got me very nostalgic. Its my favorite eshop track besides the wii shop music. Good times
I bought my 2dsXL as Nintendo was discontinuing them on their website. I only spent 99.99 on it and even without modding it the console is amazing. After modding it's friggin amazing, I'm going on 3 years with it now and I still play 4+ times a week.
The 3ds version of rayman origins was such a letdown. Instead of just adapting the game to the console's limitations, they just compressed the hell out of the graphics and sounds, and STILL the game ran horribly. Too many compromises for a version of the game that doesn't do justice to the beautiful art and soundtrack.
25:00 Crash 1 and 2 on the Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy suffer from this. At first you think it's really cool that time trials were added to these games, like they were on 3... until you actually play it. The levels in Crash 3 were designed to be speedran and have less focus on precision platforming. The levels in Crash 1 and 2 were designed for precision platforming, so they're not supposed to be rushed. While your times in 3 are fully based on skill, the goal times in 1 and 2 are brutal and based on luck.
It feels like a common trend with Xenoblade is making something that feels like it shouldn't be possible. How does Xenoblade 1 fit on a Wii disc? How does Xenoblade 3 not just shit the bed with the framerate all the time? How does Xenoblade X exist? These games are true technical marvels, and they're fantastic JRPGs too.
There are speculations that Rhythm Heaven Megamix was originally going to be a 3DS version of Fever. Rhythm Heaven Megamix is basically a celebration of the entire franchise. So there are a lot of songs for every game in the franchise. The funny thing is that for the first two games there are a lot fewer songs compared to Fever; since almost every song (or maybe even all of them) from Fever are in Megamix. Not only that, but in the game's file you can find the song for Fever's Remix 10 which went unused in the game. So it is possible that this was originally going to be a port of Fever on the 3DS, but later changed to be a celebration for the entire franchise.
I have a friend who has only ever played Xenoblade 1 on the New 3DS. So thankful I waited until the Switch port, cause that seems like you'd lose a lot of the magic of playing it on a tv since it's such a big game. Also the remastered ost was worth the wait too, those arrangements are so good.
@jaykelley103 I mean, I bet it's fine because the game itself is that good, but I'm glad I waited for the definitive experience. The game is so long I'll probably never play it again, but for what it's worth, that first playthrough will always remain in my mind.
i spent like a 140 hours playing xenoblade on the 3ds. it might be super blurry but it still hooked me with the art direction and atmosphere, it's still a beautiful game
Surprised Rodea the Sky Soldier wasn't mentioned, as that's one of my absolute favorite weird stories I believe Scott's mentioned before; Rodea was on WiiU, but they included an extra copy of the Wii version in-box, and released day & date alongside the 3DS version.
It actually sounds like it works better in some ways. Since the D-Pad is on the remote instead of the Nunchuk, you can move around while selecting your arts without having to do a claw grip or something and that sounds nice.
Pilotwings is one of the best Examples of using 3D to help the Player to see the distance better how far away rings are. The depts of 3D here is also incredible high. (in later Games they sadly reduced the 3D, even if you have the option to regulate this for yourself) I know not many ppl like playing with 3D on, but i think this Game is one, that should be playing with 3D, giving you the best experience.
The thing that always frustrated me about Extra Epic Yarn is that it seemed like the perfect wii game to see in 3D, especially if it was released on 3DS as opposed to the Switch.... and it was playable in 2D ONLY.
I mean Nintendo sorta did it to themselves. The gba had TONS of snes remakes, and then the ds had Mario 64 ds at launch. The 3DS was questionable to me as I believe GCN still has better graphics.
THANK YOU for giving Rayman origins some praise, literally me and my sisters favorite game growing up. Rayman legends is also a great 2D platformer i don't hear people talk about enough

Xenoblade 3d is one of the craziest ports ever made. Its really such a large game and the frame rate was pretty stable all things considering. Id really say the only downgrade compared to the wii is the resolution which still blows my mind.
I'm honestly surprised you didn't even once mention Super Smash Bros. Yea, yea I get it, a lot of people have an issue with the 4th entry in the SSB line for a million and a half reasons, but . . . come on, it was the first-ever SSB on a *_handheld._* Like, thats something immense right there just for the portability alone. Add to it the fact they're more or less the same exact game with very minor differences (mostly in terms of stages and a few minigames), and it had great graphics almost comparable to the Wii U version (even if harder to see), and it's pretty impressive they managed to make it run on a Handheld at all, let alone with good performance *_and_* not requiring the "New" version of the 3DS; it could run just fine on the original one. In fact that was what prompted me to even get back into the 3DS; I had one lying around that my old girlfriend bought me years ago. Never used it much but had some games I played occasionally through the years for it. It was a launch version and very old, but ran flawlessly and had almost no physical problems with it, barely even a scratch. Heard about them shutting down the eShop, and a few trips down the rabbit hole after it sat in my storage for a few years and I realized all the awesome stuff I could get on it that I absolutely felt needed to be preserved for if I ever wanted to play a game system completely disconnected from the rest of the world. . . . Now I have a brand-new, pretty-certain-it-was-never-played "New" 3DS XL I somehow managed to find off Ebay for an absolute steal, and a ton of games for it I never thought I'd ever own. Just because. I personally like the 3DS. It was a very pleasing little system and had a very cozy, feel-good air to it. After all, it might be the last truly dedicated handheld Nintendo ever makes again, and certainly the last one where we'll ever have entire games on the cartridge again. The simple fact it's not a slave to the servers of a giant corporation is reason enough to own these old consoles.
"Don't think of goddam Mario for 20 seconds" Yeah, I think that's impossible for Nintendo fans. Heck if a flashy new 3D Donkey Kong came out, they'd probably complain that it wasn't Super Mario Odyssey 2.
33:00 i find a major thing about the 3DS feel is the rim lighting being present on a lot of games on it, im not sure if its something on the SDK or an actual hardware feature but it really is omniprescent
It's weird to think about how Nintendo has always had handhelds that could do console strength after about 2 generations. Like, SNES could probably be done on GBA, DS started being N64, and this
GBC ~ NES GBA ~ SNES NDS ~ N64 new3DS ~ GameCube (not quite) NSwitch ~ WiiU ... ... The 2024 New Nintendo Super Switch...? Probably around the same performance as the PS4 Pro, about x6 slower or less capable than the 2020 Xbox Series X, or maybe x8 slower than the 2025 PS5 Pro.
@@jesusramirezromo2037 Yeah, that was the most frustrating part. The NSwitch came out the same period when the PS4 Pro came out. And it wasn't even close to the performance of the XB1 which was stated to be underpowered by the whole community. The NSwitch releasing in 2017 was much closer to the performance of the 2005 Xbox 360. Meanwhile, in Early 2016 we saw the release of the Xiaomi Mi 5, which was slightly cheaper than the NSwitch but had more expensive components (SoC, Screen, Camera, etc etc). And the Xiaomi Mi 5 had less avenue for alternate revenue streams. Meaning the NSwitch was a cash-grab for Nintendo from the beginning. I could excuse it much more IF the device had huge constraints due to being made pocketable BUT it was not, it is fairly sizeable and is merely a portable device. Compare it to another portable device like the A10X chipset in the iPad that released alongside the NSwitch to get a better idea of how much performance and battery life that the consumers were missing out on. I fear that in Late 2024 The New Nintendo Super Switch will follow the same recipe. It might be on-par with the performance of the 2017 PS4 Pro, roughly x6 slower than the current 2020 Xbox Series X, or roughly x8 slower than the 2025 PS5 Pro. All rumoured and estimated, obviously.

It didnt it was on the new 3ds if it was on 3ds it would been much worse since it has a significantly worse cpu and gpu
They also developed Pilotwings Resort!!!!
They also worked on various NASCAR games throughout the years and are now owned by iRacing
These are just Scott's filler episodes at this point and I'm not complaining
The reason Ohio has so many retro game stores is that if you live in Ohio your family meets with you and makes you pick a new hobby after your micro brewing phase gets too out of control. Other acceptable paths include roller coasters and college football.
Rhythm Heaven Megamix was quickly mentioned here but it's actually even more prevalent for this topic than it may seem. They recreated almost every minigame from the Wii entry. In fact, from the game's files it sounds like they might've originally planned it to be a port of the Wii game before they decided to make something different.
Considering it was a really late Wii release, it would've made sense to port it on the 3DS
what do you mean about the game's files
@@cauapereira1019The music for the title screen and Remix 10 from Fever are present but unused in Megamix
One of Nintendo’s many ports to keep the 3ds in the late 2010s.
Thanks for the weekly Scott Stash Fix! ❤
That DKC Returns port ❤
finished it recently and it is actually really fair. starts pretty easy, gets a little harder and by the endgame is challenging but not hard. great game, but tropical freeze is just better in everything that dkc returns (3d) does.
The next sequels to this vídeo:
●Wii U Games on 3DS.
●N64 Games on 3DS.
●Gamecube Games on 3DS.
●DS Games on 3DS.
●3DS Games on Switch
●Wii Games on Nintendo Switch.
I know the 3ds version gets a ton of flack but its still my preferred way to play the game lol
Also that 3ds eShop music at the end got me very nostalgic.
Spider-Man Edge of time also got a 3DS port which was basically the same as the home console versions
Was about to comment this
you are a life savior with those videos. i love to listen to ur “3ds” talks❤️
What better way to experience the year of Luigi than to play this game with “2 whole monkeys!” Scott always nails it
I have a friend who has only ever played Xenoblade 1 on the New 3DS. So thankful I waited until the Switch port, cause that seems like you'd lose a lot of the magic of playing it on a tv since it's such a big game. Also the remastered ost was worth the wait too, those arrangements are so good.
Nah the 3ds version is fire, I played it for free by stealing it for my hacked 3ds
@jaykelley103 I mean, I bet it's fine because the game itself is that good, but I'm glad I waited for the definitive experience. The game is so long I'll probably never play it again, but for what it's worth, that first playthrough will always remain in my mind.
@@UltimateTS64 yah I'll prolly never play it again either. Maybe when I'm old and senile 😂
The ability of playing DKCR without motion controls is one of the reasons for which I love the 3DS version
i spent like a 140 hours playing xenoblade on the 3ds. it might be super blurry but it still hooked me with the art direction and atmosphere, it's still a beautiful game
Honestly how they made the entirety of Xenoblade work a 3ds was the most insane news I’ve ever heard about the 3ds
Lore: Scott likes to go to Cincinnati
Surprised Rodea the Sky Soldier wasn't mentioned, as that's one of my absolute favorite weird stories I believe Scott's mentioned before; Rodea was on WiiU, but they included an extra copy of the Wii version in-box, and released day & date alongside the 3DS version.
Toads treasure tracker on 3ds was fucking awesome
Super paper Mario would be amazing on 3DS, especially with the visual dimensional angles and whatnot
I bought a new 3DS this year because of videos like this and I love the little system!!
My first Xenoblade Chronicles experience was the 3DS port. I regret nothing!
Scott is the first white boy with swag
scott got the ohio rizz
You've opened my eyes to the idea of playing Xenoblade with the wii remote and nun chuck and that thought will forever haunt me.
It works better than you'd think.
It actually sounds like it works better in some ways. Since the D-Pad is on the remote instead of the Nunchuk, you can move around while selecting your arts without having to do a claw grip or something and that sounds nice.
That would be cool, but no camera control sounds like a NIGHTMARE @@totalradlad
Thank GOD this isn’t the WiiU games on 3DS because I would f*cking scream, but I won’t because this is Wii games
Pilotwings is one of the best Examples of using 3D to help the Player to see the distance better how far away rings are.
The depts of 3D here is also incredible high. (in later Games they sadly reduced the 3D, even if you have the option to regulate this for yourself)
I know not many ppl like playing with 3D on, but i think this Game is one, that should be playing with 3D, giving you the best experience.
Captain toad was always a crazy one for 3ds bc it was technically a Wii U game
The way you describe DK Country being not difficult sounds like me when I tell my friends Dark Souls isn't that hard lmao.
Who else still plays their 3ds? Am i alone lol
Ur not alone
No buddy. Not until next year.
nope we're still here
Not alone brother, not alone.
least obvious engagement bait
Remember: Mario Kart Wii had a special 3DS port made in 2010 that was not released to the public
Should've ported more to the 3DS... Would've loved to see Super Mario Galaxy...
The thing that always frustrated me about Extra Epic Yarn is that it seemed like the perfect wii game to see in 3D, especially if it was released on 3DS as opposed to the Switch.... and it was playable in 2D ONLY.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3D was one of the first games i bought when I started my job it was so cool to experience that game.
Glad to know I'm not the only one who made the GBA to SNES, DS to N64, 3DS to GameCube comparisons.
I mean Nintendo sorta did it to themselves. The gba had TONS of snes remakes, and then the ds had Mario 64 ds at launch. The 3DS was questionable to me as I believe GCN still has better graphics.
@@TimDespairBear11snes had better graphics and sound than gba, n64 had better graphics than ds...
THANK YOU for giving Rayman origins some praise, literally me and my sisters favorite game growing up. Rayman legends is also a great 2D platformer i don't hear people talk about enough
A special port for 3ds was Spider-man edge of time. That version was just almost straight up the console version and used the dual screen to its advantage for the narrative. Really cool version!!
I think a proper Scott the Woz vid on 100% games could be neat. Since some games are better (or worst) if you do.
i agree, he should base it around the 100% achievement or the platinum trophy
I'd like to see him talking about the hell of 100%ing Crash 4.
@@Dad_Shoes I'd like to see him talk about the L Button.
@@legoboy7107 True
@@legoboy7107 I wonder how he would get 23 minutes on it. He'll probably take 3 minutes to rant how the N64 Z Button was used in place of the L button in most games.
Thanks for the Scott’s Stash and Clip content to help me get my fix til a Halloween special lol
Scott future proofing this video by talking about 2023-2024 in the past tense, I see you Woz.
i giggle and kick my feet every time scott uploads
Is that you Drake?
I feel like Scott is teaching his friends how to edit. If you look at the descriptions of the last few videos, some are credited.
I feel like Scott might be hiring them as editors for the main channel at some point to get videos out faster.
scott confirmed that he's been doing that since last year, just that he's only now going back and crediting everyone
@@twolve ah
Well I haven't even noticed until it was pointed out, so they're doing a good job
Loved the little tidbit of Scott and Jeff’s friendship
never played its 3ds version but glad to see the rayman origins praise without even bringing up legends. i just like origins SO much more than legends and i wish more ppl appreciated it (and tbh every other rayman game) instead of only ever legends
I like how Scott makes this video timeless by referencing the end of the switch in past tense, even though it’s happening now
Finally, Scott talked about Xenoblade
these give the same vibes as ps2 games on psp, but without the novelty
Xenoblade 3d is one of the craziest ports ever made. Its really such a large game and the frame rate was pretty stable all things considering. Id really say the only downgrade compared to the wii is the resolution which still blows my mind.
Scott's Stash is the main channel at this point
I didn't play much on the 3ds, but every thing that I did end up playing was absolutely amazing
Pokemon Rumble slander may push me to frown at this video
"Don't think of goddam Mario for 20 seconds"
Yeah, I think that's impossible for Nintendo fans.
More 3DS videos like this please. MORE!!!!!
It's weird to think about how Nintendo has always had handhelds that could do console strength after about 2 generations. Like, SNES could probably be done on GBA, DS started being N64, and this
He literally said that in the beginning
GBC ~ NES
GBA ~ SNES
NDS ~ N64
new3DS ~ GameCube (not quite)
NSwitch ~ WiiU
... ...
The 2024 New Nintendo Super Switch...? Probably around the same performance as the PS4 Pro, about x6 slower or less capable than the 2020 Xbox Series X, or maybe x8 slower than the 2025 PS5 Pro.
Even applies to the switch, Being two generations behind, With it being closet to a portable PS3/Xbox360
@@ekintekoeh. some corrections - gbc is probably not as powerful as the nes. it can do some weird crap that the nes can't (such as a doom clone? yeah.) but it can't do as many sprites as the nes. 3ds was advertised as being about as powerful as the gcn at launch. n3ds probably could actually stand toe to toe with the gcn quite nicely.
