Flipnote Studio 3D having no online sharing honestly killed the app for me. I loved seeing what other people could make more than I did trying (and failing 😅) to make my own stuff.
The story of flipnote studio 3D is kinda crazy and actually is connected to swapnote too! Basically there was a controversy unfolding where creeps online were exchanging photos with kids through swapnote’s online messaging feature. Some news sites reported on it and from what I remember Nintendo then pulled online messaging from swapnote and then delayed flipnote 3D indefinitely. My guess is they didn’t want to deal with the headaches of protecting kids online and I remember being really sad about it and jealous of all the 3DS owners in Japan :’)
wasn’t also the flipnote gallery (the sharing service) a paid subscription service too? i heard something about the coins system too replacing stars and color stars and the more coins your flipnote got the more time was added to your subscription
It's a great console for sure. It's leagues ahead of the o3ds xl in build quality. That thing kinda made me sad to use it when I had one in a weird way because the plastic felt cheap so it wasn't that enjoyable to use.
Older person here. My friend got a huge bonus from the military and he and I grew up together, he demanded that he pick me up a decent gift. We settled on the OG 3DS. my personal 3ds home menu setup, for YEARS, like atleast since 2016 or so, probably longer, was a 2x3 grid, with 2 games at the top with the card slot in the middle, with 3 folders along the bottom, from left to right "Pre-Added Stuff," "Games," and "Applications." after a while i had so many virtual console games i put all the applications in the Pre-Added Stuff folder and renamed it "Pre-Added and Apps." thank you for coming to my TED Talk about my 3ds home-screen.

I have a whole lot of nostalgia for the 3DS considering I was too young to even use the 3D by at least a couple years when it originally came out, I had a lot of great memories on both my flame red Wii-era 3DS and my multiple 2dses, until very recently I never owned a new 3DS but I picked up a black new 3DS this march and I love this thing.
the chase begins was my childhood and i didnt notice the limitations (the 3ds was my only gaming device so yeah) and theres still a special place in my heart for it
Very nostalgic looking at all these things Scott has on his 3ds especially the Luigi’s mansion trailer. When I saw that I was really hyped for the game and when it launched I went to buy and because I live in the us it was dark moon so I thought it was a spin off title that they hadn’t announced yet and got even more excited because I thought I could get 2 Luigi’s mansion games
Man, the memories that video brought back to me it's insane. I bought my metallic red 3DS back in 2012 I believe, I know the store that sold it to me did it one day before it's official release, and I was ecstatic: played a lot of RA cards and that thing with the heads, idk the name of the game in English. I remember watching Kirby Right Back At Ya on Nintendo Video, I discovered my first favorite CZcamsrs (and sleepless school nights) on the CZcams app, Nintendo Zone installed itself while I was on a trip in Italy, I played a lot of Four Swords too, as well as the DOA demo, until I didn't have any plays left, and sent loads of letters on Swapnote. There was also a Eurosport app too, for some reason? I should recheck the activity book one day. It's my comfort system with the Wii, even if I didn't have a lot of games on it, like basically only Mario Kart 7 until very recently. I experimented with Softmodding on it, and played a lot of DS games thanks to my R4 card: Metroid Prime Hunters, Mario Slam Basketball, Need For Speed Carbon... This console, probably my favorite in my collection, is now retreated, as a New 3DS XL SNES took its place. But damn I love this little red thing with all my heart.
One game I liked on the 3Ds was the comic creator. I liked watching 3D videos on CZcams. I originally got the 3Ds to make 3D videos, and photos. Live 3D Japanese Railroad games were also some of my favorites. Still like it, but I rarely have gone back since I have a Switch.
I had the Nintendo Zone experience. 8 year old me strolled into Starbucks one morning and completed an insultingly easy NSMB 2 Trivia Quiz. There was other content like that but aside from those I don't remember much. I also used it in a McDonald's.
I bought the same set used for $120 shortly after it came out. The only defect is a lighter spot on the bottom screen, about 4mm in diameter. I put a generic set of plain black faceplates on it, some screen protectors, and I pulled the nub off and replaced it with a PSP slider cap. I also did the CFW thing for emulators and whatnot. Oh, and I bought a telescoping stylus that fits in the slot. It's my favorite handheld since the Gameboy pocket.
my first 3ds was an XL model, but it was destroyed from myself from the past and it turned off every time i tilted the screen, so recently i bought a new 3ds for only 100 bucks. Great video BTW!
NGL, I WISH the Switch had folders on the main screen like the 3DS! It looks much cleaner, and I'd really like that instead of the finnicky, weird thing they do now. X'D This was such a cool vid! Crazy man. I remember transferring all my DSi games staright to my 3ds XL. Sadly some games were not transferable during the switch and I lost some cool games. Real Soccer 2009 for the DS was awesome! Wish I still had my copy on any of my DS.
@@unknownninja1 When the DSi shop was still running there was a free downloadable called 3ds transfer tool. From there you can send data and games that worked with the 3ds. It worked the same function as 2ds/3ds ones you see in the settings menu. It also transfered my old photos that I took on my DSi. Which surprised me.
I like the Scott's Stash Scott so much more than The Woz. You can tell how natural he is just talking about this stuff without much noticeable editing.
I got the Mario clock as there were no alarms for the 3ds. It was definitely useful as a secondary alarm just in case my phone wasn't enough to wake me up.
I just got a regular New 3DS from eBay a couple weeks ago. Gotta say feels much nicer than a New 3DS XL in my opinion. And the swappable plates will always make the regular model trump over the XL one for me.
Mine is lost for good sadly. Haven't seen it in a few years. Too bad, as I have saves and data from previous systems going clear back to 2013. 😢 I miss Gunman Clive 2. I also had the SSB3DS Demo. I remember winning a code in an art contest someone held on Miiverse.
I'm so jealous of anyone owning the standard New 3DS as they didnt release worldwide. I was so excited for it that I even got faceplates from my trip to Japan only to wait and wait for it to not release in my country lol.
I got my 3ds in 2016 and it came pre-installed with Photos With Mario. I had just assumed it was on there from the beginning to give a reason to play with the 3D camera.
I’m so mad at myself because when I was younger I had a DSI, but for some reason, I NEVER used the dsi shop. I have no idea why, because I vividly remember always watching that video (don’t know how I would play it) on the DSI that would explain how the shop works and how you can download games and thinking “man I wish I could download that stuff” AND THEN JUST NOT USE THE SHOP. Edit: I also barely found out that the DSI shop theme is that one song, which I would always hear and didn’t know it was from there, BECAUSE I NEVER OPENED THE DAMN SHOP. I think you can tell I’m really mad at myself.

I like the Scott's Stash Scott so much more than The Woz. You can tell how natural he is just talking about this stuff without much noticeable editing.
Scott, this is like the 10th time that you complained about buying the 3ds with a price cut without the ambassador program.
So?
Used to play cut the rope on my phone all the time, pretty cool game
Mario Land 1 appreciation always makes me happy. Bring back the Superball!
I got the Mario clock as there were no alarms for the 3ds. It was definitely useful as a secondary alarm just in case my phone wasn't enough to wake me up.
This video helped me view flash in a whole different way with high respect
I just got a regular New 3DS from eBay a couple weeks ago. Gotta say feels much nicer than a New 3DS XL in my opinion.
And the swappable plates will always make the regular model trump over the XL one for me.
My favorite part is the Super Famicom buttons!
N3DSXL with an IPS top panel is still the definitive 3DS.
I read the title and knew I shouldn't spend my time watching this, but here I am; enjoying every second.
Mine is lost for good sadly. Haven't seen it in a few years. Too bad, as I have saves and data from previous systems going clear back to 2013. 😢
I miss Gunman Clive 2.
I also had the SSB3DS Demo. I remember winning a code in an art contest someone held on Miiverse.
I like when the Zelda picross logo goes with the "But!" scott says lol
I'm so jealous of anyone owning the standard New 3DS as they didnt release worldwide. I was so excited for it that I even got faceplates from my trip to Japan only to wait and wait for it to not release in my country lol.
what kind of faceplates did you get? I do have a New 3DS myself, I always wanted the glow in the dark Boo one
i had a similar experience you had with mario land 1 with mario land 2 haha. very comfy games.
"Toledo 2" 😄
can't wait until he shows his own personal build for a fusion reactor
How dare you upload these amazing videos during my exam period😭
I love that one so much
I have the SNES 3DS that you showed, and its so cool
Nice video, very nostalgic
Same
I got my 3ds in 2016 and it came pre-installed with Photos With Mario. I had just assumed it was on there from the beginning to give a reason to play with the 3D camera.
it's so funny watching this knowing he's standing over a table that has a square of carpeting on top of it
I have a distinct memory of watching The Hunchback of Notre Dame on the 3ds Netflix app.
I got a 2DS with a included Super Mario Maker. I had a lot of games. Right now I’m trying to get a New 3Ds XL
Feels like I'm at a friend's house and he's showing off his stuff for 40 minutes while I'm just waiting to play Smash 3DS
You should check your activity log and see what games you played the most for another video!
Did not know you had a second channel, time to binge
Still have a 3D trailer for:
"Dinosaur Office" ROAR!
also a 3D 3D Kirby cartoon. (not a typo)
I have a og 3ds moded and im still happy abt it
Would love to see more personal console vids like this
360?
I’m so mad at myself because when I was younger I had a DSI, but for some reason, I NEVER used the dsi shop. I have no idea why, because I vividly remember always watching that video (don’t know how I would play it) on the DSI that would explain how the shop works and how you can download games and thinking “man I wish I could download that stuff” AND THEN JUST NOT USE THE SHOP.
Edit: I also barely found out that the DSI shop theme is that one song, which I would always hear and didn’t know it was from there, BECAUSE I NEVER OPENED THE DAMN SHOP. I think you can tell I’m really mad at myself.
i love to assume that the calendar and clock are accurate, it was 15 minutes into the new year and scott immediately went to film what’s on his 3ds
Finna burst your bubble, New Year's Day this year was on a Sunday.
I played minis on the move WAY too much, I lost track of how many nights I couldn't sleep and played that game
