  • We came across the 49 Chevy Fleetline in a "temporary" shelter, where it has been sitting since long before the property was sold. Was it being restored or parted out long ago when it was abandoned? Will this old car start? Check us out on Facebook at www.facebook.c...

My wife and I enjoy how you and Christine get together on the will it run videos. I like how people like you who have a passion for antique vehicles to get these gems running again instead of rotting away in a field. Christine shows as much passion in getting Lula fixed. It just goes to show that a person with basic tools and some vehicle knowledge can get just about any vehicle running and driving again. We like how you and Christine help others to get their cars running. Great work to both of you. We look forward in seeing more videos.

The paint on the plug proved your theory that the engine was at least painted. I have only seen plugs older than that one time. I met a man in 2009 that had a nearly 100% original Model A that was his daily driver. I didn't believe him until he invited me to inspect it. The car still had the factory plugs and wires. The car was immaculate. It had been in his family since it was new, and had never even been restored or anything. It was beautiful, and he drove it on a regular basis. He said that he didn't drive it in bad weather, but drove it whenever possible. It was amazing. It was in nearly perfect condition.

I hope those stickers can be preserved eventually. those and the overal looks along with graffitti makes me think of it parked behind the university house for many years, used for graffitti, abused, and waiting for someone to fix it. and said someone tried to, but maybe fell sick or ran out of money and steam.

I remember Nehi and Upper 10. They were trying to compete with 7up and Sprite, but they didn't last long. Sometimes, bottles from small independent regional companies that are long gone will be valuable. Coca Cola used to stamp the name of the city where the bottles came from on the bottom. Some of them are very common and some are rare. If you wanted to find out if any of those bottles are worth anything, that would be the place to start. It's worth checking into.
We used to play a little game. When we were all drinking cokes, we'd each look at the bottom of the bottle when we finished. Whoever has the city that was the furthest away was the winner. Of course, you had to know your geography to know where everything is.

You might check to see if the motor is against the bell housing. With the way that motor is sitting it is a very good possibility. Also check for a mechanical Bendix arm. Can't remember on that car. Only worked on two like it and they were both brake jobs so I wouldn't know. Hope you get that car. It is worth having by far.

It does have the exposed Bendix arm. I had my finger on it at one point, and it is moving just like it should. I still can't figure out why the Bendix would not engage the flywheel, but it is possible that the drive gear is worn away. That would cause the same behavior.

Hi Richard & Christina, howdy from Scotland.
It’s good to have both of you back after a short absence.
Well you picked a real difficult one for your return. You we’re fighting an uphill battle with that one,…although to be fair the body panels looked in very decent shape.
Your getting Scottish weather by the looks of it. Not the best conditions to be fiddling around with seized engines.
It could be a nice car if someone was willing to invest the time and effort putting it all back together again, perhaps with a replacement engine?.
Anyway another interesting video from both of you, so onwards to the next one.
    All the best
    John
