    I have friends in Massachusetts that won a '28 Chevy in a raffle. They bought one ten dollar ticket and won. The car runs like a sewing machine and drives excellent. The Chevys have a lot of wood in the body for supports so there aren't very many survivors like what you are working on.

    • @kfl611
      @kfl611 Před rokem

      Many years ago I passed a model t, I think, going all of maybe 20 mph on the highway. Ok, it was not on the interstate, but still. It was barely creeping, and the back lights were so dim, but bright enough you could tell something was infront of you. This was just off an exit ramp, so everyone was going slow on the exit ramp, or it would have been a real hazard. I think they must have gotten it like this car, to just barely run and were moving it from one place to another. But they should have done it in broad day light. This might have been 30 or 40 years ago.

    Back in my high school days many, many years ago, we had a drive-in theater called "The Isle of View".... seeing that sign "Isle La View", really brought back some memories. Sadly, all of the ones we had have long since felt the developer's ax. Woud....wood....play on words? Great seeing old friends back together doing the things they enjoy.

    • @darrenniles2448
      @darrenniles2448 Před rokem +3

      Interesting story behind that sign, my father ran the local railroad that went through most of Main northern New Hampshire in northern Vermont and they needed to replace some rarer station signs that had been stolen or worn out and they were replacing them with wooden signs at that time back in the early 80s so my father put ‘ Isle La View’ on the list and signed off on it so they could have them all made, somebody came to him and said, Charlie that’s not one of the stations on the Railroad and he said never mind, just make the sign anyway and he hung it in the garage right in front of where my mother parked her car every day so she could see it as an expression of his love for her and now I have it as a reminder of my parents love for one another

    Wooden stick is in the overflow tube. These cars were made for water, not ethylene glycol. Anti-freeze expands when hot, system is not pressurized so she spits it out. Anytime I mess with an old cooling system, use water first. Anti is messy and expensive. I run distilled water and Napa 1300 in my old cars. Water cools better anyway, drain in winter. Less damage from a head leak too. Babbitt bearings and Anti freeze are a bad mix. Enjoy your videos!

      Years ago, we were talking about cars and my grandmother said 'I did that once', and we (My dad and I) were like you did what once? My grandmother said she didn't put alcohol in the water and when winter came by the engine froze and she cracked the block. She said my grandfather always took care of that maintaining the cars, but he was a traveling sales man and was not around at the time, and I guess my grandmother said she forgot to have the car winterized. They had to explain to me, that was how they winterized the cooling system before they had modern anti-freeze. Which is kind of funny, as I have an very old, one of the first General Electric refrigerators - 1927, and it advised you to put a mixture of glycol and water into the coolent freezer chambers. I think in 1929 they changed how they cooled those refrigerators, to look like the aluminum boxes we are all familiar with - no square porcelain tanks, with a round center - like they had in 1927/1928. Oh and the instructions for the fridge said to get your glycol from the druggist.

He didn't have a good place to keep it so he parked it at my place. He told me to drive it occasionally. So, I did it was a neat car two doors with mechanical brakes. King pins were worn so it had a bad shake above 30 mph. Three speed just like this one with pull cable for spark advance and spoked wheels. After I left NH I don't know where he went. Fun fact: How did the Chevy logo come about? William Durant was inspired by the pattern on wallpaper in a hotel in Paris, hence, the "bowtie" design.

    The gap on the plugs from the side allow for oil to drip off and reduce fouling

    Those straight 6’s are great; Chevy or Ford. They were in constant manufacture until the 1970’s. I remember working on one on a 1977 Chevy Nova. I did notice one spring still not moving on the first cylinder. This car is so complete. Great adventure; thank you!

    You have to drane the tank and put pebbles in it and solvent or water and shake it vigorously for twenty minutes or so drain it and put tank sealer in it and sloshing it around and pour the excess into a container with a lid and let it dry out for a few hours

      That’s my plan, my boys and I are going to take the tank out of the back of the car put a bunch of pebbles in it and maybe some kind of solvent strap it onto their wagon and they can pull it around the yard for a couple of weeks

    My friend it's not a motor it's an engine. Lol like a very dear friend and mentor of mine that taught me about mechanic work and alot of other things and what I mean this man could do anything. God bless him he's gone now.but always remember that a motor burns electricity, and an engine burns fossil fuel ⛽ lol have a blessed day my friends.
