    This video is an interview with Julius Winston Garvey, Julius Winston Garvey visited Ghana from the USA, and we were privileged to a one-on-one conversation with him about the exoneration of his father and also talk about Africa and the Diaspora moving to Ghana- Africa, Julius Winston Garvey the son of renowned Pan-African leader Marcus Garvey, who has dedicated his life to upholding his father's legacy and seeking justice for the injustices inflicted upon him. In a landmark legal campaign, Julius embarked on a relentless pursuit to exonerate his father, who had been wrongfully convicted in the early 20th century.
    Marcus Garvey, a visionary activist and advocate for black empowerment, founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA) and championed the cause of African diaspora unity and self-determination. However, his influential efforts faced immense opposition from various entities threatened by his message of empowerment.
    Facing trumped-up charges of mail fraud, Marcus Garvey was convicted in 1923 and subsequently deported from the United States. For years, the conviction cast a shadow over his reputation and hindered the progress of his movement. Recognizing the profound impact of this miscarriage of justice, Julius Winston Garvey tirelessly worked towards rectifying this historical injustice.
    With unwavering determination, Julius tirelessly researched legal avenues, assembled evidence, and mobilized public support. Through his relentless efforts, he exposed the flawed legal proceedings and underlying prejudices that led to his father's conviction. Julius effectively demonstrated that the charges against Marcus Garvey were politically motivated and lacked substantial evidence.
    After years of relentless advocacy, Julius Winston Garvey succeeded in securing the exoneration of his father in [insert year]. This momentous achievement not only vindicated Marcus Garvey but also restored his reputation as a visionary leader and freedom fighter.
    The exoneration of Marcus Garvey stands as a testament to the perseverance of Julius Winston Garvey in his quest for justice. It symbolizes a significant step towards rectifying the historical wrongs imposed upon a towering figure in the struggle for racial equality and self-determination. Julius Winston Garvey's unwavering dedication has cemented his father's legacy as a champion of African liberation, inspiring future generations to continue the fight for justice and empowerment.

    When you’re praised by the colonists, it means that you are bad for your people. When they say you are bad, it means that you are good for your people. The day they said I’m good, that’ll mean I betrayed you ---Ahmed Sékou Touré

  • @tvs9978
    @tvs9978 Před rokem +3

    The idea of the Black Star Line was stolen by Garvey from Chief Sam. Chief Sam was born in the then Gold Coast in the 1800s and was the pioneer who actually FIRST brought diasporans in America back to Africa, the Gold Coast in 1915 and actually started the Back to Africa movement based on the writings and work of Edward Blyden from the then Danish Carribean. (Technically the very first to send people back privately was Paul Cuffe in the early 1800s.) Why will people not give credit where it's due?

      Awww, some of our black people, the ones that tend to speak with such anger, such animosity , Can you not be gentle on your speech and not be so angry with your words? we want to be enlightened, not all people know all things.....so if you use your words in an intelligent and gentle manner, our ears will be yours......you do not or should not use a word as steal so loosely .
      not to say what you explain is not so, but unfortunately, the world knows Marcus Garvey

      @@shirleygrant8989 that is precisely the point.. The truth must be said. It is stolen because credit is never given to the true pioneer. Many black people who are more concerned with pushing a particular narrative and stroking egos, would rather the truth be hidden, but it is more important to tell the truth than to stroke black egos.

    • @shirleygrant8989
      @shirleygrant8989 Před rokem +4

      @tvs9978 You have precisely missed the point 👉, What was clearly pointed out to you was that it was not necessary for you to argue the point of Garvey being a thief there was stolen. He continued with a cause. He was murdered for . all I am saying is thread softly with your words, so people will be willing to listen and comphrend with ease and not animosity

    • @tvs9978
      @tvs9978 Před rokem +2

      @@shirleygrant8989 a thief must be called a thief, especially when they take credit for other people's ideas and work without giving credit. You missed MY point twice. I said it before and I will say it again, the truth shall not be hidden to stroke egos because some of you want to push a particular narrative. And I shall use whatever tone I wish to use. You don't like it, too damned bad
