  • It's winter in Forza Horizon 4 and we're on a little road trip to Edinburgh, Scotland, on a mission to race the Hogwarts Express. And we're not going to let the fact that the Hogwarts Express isn't actually in the game stop us. For more from Outside Xbox, subscribe! tinyurl.com/Sub...
    That's not all we get up to in this Forza Horizon 4 gameplay. We go car and clothes shopping, discover a spectacular Red Dead 2 paint job for an ancient Ford, and slither around an ice lake while trying not to think about exactly how much ice is required to support over a ton of racing car.
    Forza Horizon 4 is out now on Xbox One and PC.

    Modern lampposts are designed to collapse on impact specifically to reduce the lethality of colliding with them. Trees, on the other hand, are like outer space: completely indifferent to human life.

    Jane is right, actually. Passengers did have blankets for the cold weather. Even if my car is old as me ('98 Subaru Impreza) I have not one but TWO blankets for passengers, a green one and a purple one.

      I have blankets in my car, too. But, I remember this mostly from living in Alaska where it was recommended to have a blanket in your car in case your car got stuck in the snow in the middle of nowhere.

    • @marhawkman303
      @marhawkman303 Před 5 lety +6

      Yeah, car blankets are for when you are at risk of hypothermia in the car, either due to extreme weather or simply not having a car heater. When I was a kid we had a station wagon that we'd often have 6 or more people riding in it. This vehicle did not have a heater and got very cold in the winter.

      I was just gonna comment on this, it wasn’t the trees, there was a rock wall in front of him that was unbreakable, he kept slamming into it over and over, and saying the trees were the problem. He knocked over all the trees, and they were moving as he reversed into them too. Unless I misunderstood what he said

    Actually, Jane is spot on, about car blankets. They were used by passengers in Model A, Model T, the Stutz Bearcat, really old cars that didn't have heaters. Or, often, and enclosed interior.My dad's first car was a Model T, and it was a cold ride in winter.

  • @mistformsquirrel
    @mistformsquirrel Před 5 lety +4

    Jane - I know what a car blanket is! We used them here in the US when I was a kid, at least my family did. It was definitely a real thing, and even to this day my mom insists we put a blanket in the trunk 'just in case'. - we didn't have an open car or anything though, we had a crappy old van and then a crappy giant (and old) buick that looked like a box >.> both were quite chilly in winter. I don't think my parents ever used it up front, but for us kids in the back? Heck yeah. BLANKET ME.

    • @sourcererseven3858
      @sourcererseven3858 Před 4 lety

      One of the first things I put into my first car when I bought it (two years ago). Not for when I drive (that would be dangerous) or for my passengers (who cares about them?), but in case it ever breaks down in winter and I have to wait hours for road-side assistance without heating. Or potentially to give it to someone else who is suffering that fate.
      Maybe that's what your Mom meant with "just in case".
      I also have plenty of water bottles, not only for topping up the windshield tank but in case the car breaks down, in the summer this time. I may be a bit over-cautious ;)
      There's also a change of clothes... Fire extinguisher... Squash racket... You never know!

    Jane, when I was a kid and my family took vacations to see relatives seven hours away, my siblings & I all brought blankets because my dad liked the A/C on high... so I'm with you on the car blankets thing. Although, it's definitely a good idea to have some in the back in case you get stranded in winter, along with water bottles, snacks, & a first aid kit.
    Also, it would be HILARIOUS if at some point in Red Dead Redemption 2, Arthur Morgan returns to his horse to see that some girl/woman has braided its mane! Now I really hope this happens, however unlikely.

    Lampposts are designed to tear away in the event of a collision, whereas trees, having roots, tend to be more immovable and therefore more catastrophically damaging.

    “Wet Leather Technician” sounds like it should be in a different type of game...
    Such as a game that features crafting, obviously

    I have been racing Farrantula, Mighty Seven, and MissDeeds for the past week, and man do they give me a run for my money! Not enough to actually lose to them, but still, you know, always a solid effort from those guys.

    Jane, this is a game mike really enjoys so of course there would be explosions and implosions in some form in it.

    Near where I live, there's a roundabout that's even less of a roundabout than the one in the video. The center bit is at most 1 car length wide, is not even elevated, and there's literally no obstacle preventing people from driving straight over it, so some act as if it's a regular intersection, especially in winter when you can't even see where the center bit is.

    I hate it because Andy's Drivatar is in my game and he constantly beats me and I have to restart the race. Farrantula is the bane of my racing enjoyment.

    Mike: focuses on winning the races.
    Andy: navigates entirely by pubs.
    Jane: wants a blanket and to know how you measure your popularity.
    Very strange but telling combination.

    Andy, I always carry a blanket in my car for those long drives when I go to visit friends in another state- it gets cold in the winter and I have no desire to waste gas at a rest stop keeping the motor running. And here I thought you being older than Jane you would have heard about this. Seriously, Jane is still a child and she knows this...

    Us in Wisconsin do a lot of ice lake driving in the winter. I appreciate the PSA. also, looking rather dap-er with your outfits.
