I like how they've actually got a pretty famous and presumably expensive cast and then spent 7 whole dollars on the art budget.

I love how they captured the fan-favorite, iconic parts of the F&F franchise where they drive slow cars up tedious roads with bland scenery.
I feel like some poor developer badly misinterpreted what the company wanted when they told him how popular The Rock is and how he should feature a lot in this game...

Anyone here old enough to remember when The Fast and the Furious was a simple crime/street racing movie? With a plot which made basic sense and characters who were just criminals and/or cops with complicated relationships? I miss those days...

The first movie and the third movie really. Even two and four were pretty gonzo, and then from five onwards it became a ludicrous parody of itself that was just interesting in topping the previous entry in being as ridiculous as possible.

Also it's called "blockbuster escalation syndrome" (in my mind anyway). I believe it started around the time of the Matrix sequels (but more likely was Michael Bay's fault), and has continued on w/the likes of Die Hard, Fast & Furious, Rambo, Alien, Predator, most DC films, the 2 Andrew Garfield AS-M's, Venom, the Jurassic Park/World's (all after JP2), Star Wars... Really any franchise that started with the protagonist being a kind of lone wolf underdog (that succeeded despite impossible odds), or a film who's world and characters started with somewhat grounded & comprehensible stakes and stories, - and over time and much studio greed were transformed (there's another one, TRANSFORMERS lol) into ridiculous and over-the-top CGI spectacle for seemingly no reason - It's quite the common occurrence in Hollywood these days, and with the exception of like Mad Max Fury Road & maybe one or two others, It's the phenomenon responsible for ruining many a film series (Die Hard especially, which was just a plane nose diving into a mountain after the original trilogy). It sucks, and I'm glad Hollywood started to notice the issue and seems to be reverting back to more intimate, serious projects with time, even if ridiculous garbage still exists. This is all the before-times anyway lol.
6 was with the plane stuff in the climax, right? That was crazy enough, it's only gotten crazier since. Like, HALO dropping cars that smash into each other as they rush towards the ground crazy...

The start of this seems very similar to the NFS payback demo Andy and Mike played a few years ago. Chasing a truck, taking out the *House* enforcers/enemies, burnout style takedowns, a cutscene where someone jumps onto the truck

The whole each driver has as a unique special ability seems very class based RPG, and character swapping too.
Last place I would expect it. That and Burnout style takedown shows some cool mechanics for a burnout style racer.
