      I’m trying to figure out why I have cold air blow out the vents and switching between different vents work but when I switch to heat all air flow stops(no cold or hot) out of any vents. Only other issue I’ve had is mice. Just doesn’t make sense all vents blow fine on cold but no flow at all on hot. And blend door is raising and lowering in main part of ac box

    I know it's been awhile since you posted this video series but I had to let you know that far and away, this is the very best presentation ever to show in detail the steps needed to dig into this series of Ram trucks.
    The efforts you've made to facilitate a great video with great photography, great lighting and of course your narrative as you execute these videos is absolutely unsurpassed.
    Your presentations have been a HUGE help to me and I'm assuming the rest of the community in allowing us to understand and deal with the processes when it comes to dealing with these vehicles.

      @@MotorCityMechanic I agree. I got quoted 5-6 hours and parts and decided to do it myself. Taking out my dash today in my 09. If it was for your video I wouldn’t be doing it.

    Thanks for the great 4 step video! Made it 10x easier to get it changed out and saved $1800 that the dealer wanted. I’d of paid to get it done but not that much. It was actually an easy job. Got it all apart and replaced in 2 hrs. Putting it back all together tomorrow after work! Thanks.

    I cannot express how much I appreciate this video as our shop is doing this job for the first time on a 2012 Ram 1500 extended cab. It helped immensely. He had the core box out within an hour and a half and he was delighted. He's 56 and has been doing this for almost 30 years, and he has always dreaded dash board removals. And you were right, those clips always break on the blend door. Excellent instruction and I appreciate the repetition, it does help. He seemed annoyed I made him sit through all 4 videos but he sure as hell is happy now. THANK YOU!

      Its always cool to hear from people that find the video and how the repair goes. I can just imagine how it went when you had him sit down and watch. Must people dread a dash job so much that they dont want to hear anything about it let alone watch someone tell them in a video. I too dread this type of work on some vehicles.     This 4 part instructional video is all anyone would need to change a heater core or evaporator. Hands down the best instructions a person could ask for. I know its 8yrs ago, but thank you, sir, for the work you put into making these.

When I was at my peak I made more than the DM, trainer etc. I loved electrical nightmares so although I'm a master tech I started doing electrical , passed down diagnostics etc. If I can be of any help in the future message me. You like myself were born with a natural talent for fixing anything. Especially the jobs 9 out of 10 pass down or want to send out.

      @@MotorCityMechanic you are soo right. The vocational school teacher here calls me regularly for answers to difficult issues. I let him know I will give him information to help the students find the answers but am not giving them answers upfront. No kid learns from that even though they may throw a tantrum make them go through flow charts.

      Exactly! Its how I learned....looking thru the service info....trial and error....and contacting the Chrysler tech support when needed. Some people want the easy way....what ever happened to that feeling of accomplishment when you finally found an issue....its like a high. You were proud of yourself and you learned from it.

    I have to say that this has been the best how-to video series that I have subscribed to. Very clear, very practical, and as others have said easy to follow. I had to replace my heater core, and found all the thing that the dealership screwed up when they changed my evap core; smashed connectors (that were hard to find), missing bolts, ducting that was cut. I replaced my heater blender box while I had it out. Thanks to your video I also rerouted the blower wiring back to where it should be instead of hanging down the front of the blower. The video might be old, but it helped me tremendously! Thanks again for your knowledge!

    I have a 2014 RAM 2500 6.7L Laramie with center console. Everything came apart exactly per parts 1-4 plus the video regarding Geno's Garage cabin filter kit. I also had to pull the seats and carpet for a deep clean due to coolant spillage from a failed heater core. One thing I'd like to add is that when I came back to review part four prior to removing the air box assembly, by some miracle I found another video of how you can split the airbox and replace the heater core without having to discharge and remove the evaporator. It also worked as shown and saved me the added time and expense of servicing the a/c system which was functioning normally. Great video sir, I thank you.

    Just had my evaporator replaced over the last two days. I'm pretty ignorant when comes to mechanics so I just nodded when the technician explained everything and why it cost so much in labor. I watched your video to get a better understanding. Great video. Thanks for posting!

    2012 Ram 1500. My OBD message was Evaporator small leak, vehicle drivable, service is required. Outstanding 4 part video. This process is expertly described in the video.

      That code has to do with the evaporative emissions system and not the ac evaporator. They are not related to each other

    The best! I have a 2012 Ram 2500 Cummins and these 4 videos walked me right through the replacement of the evaporator that was leaking. I had the dash out in 2 hours! Took me another hour to get the heater/ac box out because my truck has rear heater vents. Other than that excellent instructional videos!

      @@MotorCityMechanic I got the replacement evaporator at 9am today, I also replaced the expansion valve just to be safe. I started putting it all back together at noon and was done by 4pm. I ordered the cabin filter kit from Genos so next week I'll put that in. I cutout the box for it before I installed the box.

    best instruction I have ever seen on youtube.
    Loved the part about not damaging the door panel with the studs. That is excellent info. The detail is amazing and it shows exactly which fasteners and harnesses have to be undone so you don't take more apart than you need to.

    Spot on information, took me about 2 and 1/2 hours taking my time. The box is a bugger to get apart and yeah I broke some tabs however there is places where you can drill some holes and install some small wood screws to hold the box together, it looks like they could have done that from the factory and you wouldn't have to worry about those plastic tabs. I found it easier to remove the parking brake rod when putting the dash back. My evaporator was just like the one in this video, when I got it out it was rotten, the dirt build up will get wet and the aluminum fins will corrode, it's just a matter of time, the factor should have used cabin air filters and this probably wouldn't have happened, shame on Dodge for not have taken a few extra steps to give us a better product. Thanks again for such a great video, I wouldn't have known what wiring harnesses to have taken apart without your help. P.S. Wasn't sure how muck Pag oil to use , someone on a forum said one ounce per component, not including the compressor. Anyhow my A/C is spitting out snowballs.

    Nice and clear presentation. I feel more comfortable having my repair shop pull my dash to replace the evaporator core after watching your video. My truck is a 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel manual transmission 4wheel drive crew cab so the procedure will be a little different but the basics will be the same. Thanks

    Thank you for taking the time to make this, you saved me a ton of money. I have a 2011 Ram 1500 Crew Cab with the 4.7L. The only difference was the exterior firewall bolts, one is hidden behind the computer, the other has a heater hose clamp on the bolt. You just pull it off, then you can take the nut off. Also, the floor ducts had to removed from the HVAC box before anything else

    For those without a coolant reservoir the nut that needs to be removed is under the 3 wire connector panel. That panel needs to be removed the get to the nut.

      @@MotorCityMechanic btw thanks for the video. I was qouted $2600 to replace evap and heater core. Took me 3.5hrs to disassemble, took my time labeling stuff and drinking beer. Not hard, well not hard when you can watch a video that is, again thanks!

    Awesome videos! Every place I’ve taken my truck including the dealer said the freon leak has to be in the dash so I was worried till I watched this. They all quoted me at about $4500.

    Hey man I just did my 2010 Laramie Cummins thanks to you videos l have to change one of the blen door the one is between ac box and fire wall so l have to take the ac box too opened the box and the evaporatior was almost completely covered whit dirt my truck has center console and other wiring that needs to disconnect it was a challenge for me but thanks to your videos it was a success repairs also installed a cabin filter l use link on video for parts keep up the good work 🤙🏻

    Just watched this whole series, it almost seems as if youve targeted mechanics with your presentation and i appreciate that, already knowing all the other procedures and only needing the essential info to this specific job was nice, no time wasted with blah blah blah. Even included info relevant to other options these models come with. Your like a living chiltons/haynes manual but with more accurate info then them lol.

    Great video very helpful. I figured I could probably do the job with this video but decided to attempt an “easy fix”. I pulled the fan motor and the little electrical piece to access the evaporator and used a dryer lent cleaning tool and some condenser foaming self evaporating cleaner in a spray can repeatedly spraying it in there and scrubbing with the dryer brush. Work great felt like I needed to share this because it really worked

    Young Man this was an Amazing Videos! I had No Idea how much Hard Work it was to get my Air Conditioner Running! In Belize you have to have a great air conditioner running here in the heat & humidity of Belize! I’m going back to my junkyard mechanic in Central America and hand him a few beers & a $50tip! Ps…this backyard mechanic works in the open air on a dirt yard and gave me a 90 day warranty to make sure the air conditioner works 100% & …No Squeaks or Rattles are coming from the Dash! I really appreciate the time & effort you did to make this video so I can understand the effort it is to keep equipment up and running! ThankYou for sharing Your Knowledge!     Thank you….. just thank you! I literally just watched a video of a guy taking the entire facia off the front of dash, then stereo, HVAC controls, then dash…. Seemed to be a month of work just to get the dash off not to mention putting it all back.

    I'm just starting this on my 2009 Ram 1500. I have a leaky evaporator and clogged heater core after 195,000 miles. Great instructions, a great help on top of the factory procedures. I'm also going to be adding the cabin filter kit. Remember that you need to add oil to the evaporator if you replace it. 2 oz. in my case.

    My issue is no heat but A/C works great in my 2014 Ram 2500 Diesel ....In Miami so don’t need heat much but it would be nice to have it.

    From one wrench to another, that was the best how to video I’ve ever seen, professional, clear, and instructive. Thank you, you’re gonna save me $2400. Had the dealer evac the R1234yf, and I’ll do the dirty work. I’m a master HVACR too, but I’m not gonna go buy a bottle for one charge. What the hell was wrong with R134a Dodge???. This may be my last Ram boys.

      Your welcome. Remember to check the brake light operation when done. Some times the brake pedal switch doesnt like being taken out and reinstalled and you may need to replace it worse case scenario.       Got it done! I have the quad cab and man those plastic rear vents that attach to the bottom of the housing are such a pain. I had to make 2 small slits on the sides for the one closest to the drivers side to get it off. Again, video is great. Anyone who is planning on doing this, go for it! It wasn't bad at all! System held vac for over an hour without budging. Vac'd system for a few hours while I was working on a another project then added 22oz (using a small scale) of 134 per factory specs. Air is ICE ICE cold now. You have a new subscriber to your channel here.

      Oh and my old evap looked like it leaked a fair amount of oil so I added 2 oz of pag 46. Also replaced the receiver dryer on the bottom right of the condenser. 14mm hex socket but it is a plastic bolt so it comes out easy. You just need to remove the bottom 2 trim pieces on the front to get it to it.

    Financially challenged student here. Appreciate this series man its a 1200 dollar job where I'm at so this series really saved my butt! Louisiana is just nasty hot in the summer man. I wonder where do regular folks go to dispose of used antifreeze though?

      Around here the local Auto parts stores will take them. I usually just put the used oil and antifreeze in the same container. Not sure if your suppose to but I do.       @@MotorCityMechanic Thanks man! Last question, my new expansion block came with orings but one is like really small. Is that for the orifice tube cause I cant for the life of me figure out where it goes?

      @@nacolcs81 Not sure why that is.....when you have an expansion block you wont have an orifice....they do the exact same thing. The o-rings should be for the lines going in at the firewall and then the evaporator side as well. Not too sure about the difference in size or why. I dont remember coming across it before.

      People think pulling a dash is always hard. Not really depending on the vehicle. I can typically do these in less then 2 hours. Its all about just knowing what to take loose and what not to and where the fasteners are. Luckily this HVAC box is very modular. Thanks for watching and for the comment Paul.     Thank you so much for this series. I'm doing this right now, and all I have to do is put it back together. Mine had Rear floor heating ducts that were a major pain, but other than that it went smooth. I think taking the center console out took longer than the dash.
