Unpopular opinion: I love that Ethan stops Hasan when he wants something clarified. I am on the same wavelength as Ethan so it really helps me understand it more. My interactions with Chicago police have only been terrible. I was in a downtown Chicago police station once and while I was waiting for a police report to be written, I saw a woman come in explaining she was sexually assaulted by a homeless person and she needed help. Her boyfriend was with her. They told them to "Go track down the assaulter and bring him back to the station" and otherwise, they couldn't help her. The couple looked so upset and defeated and left the station. After they were gone, the police started laughing and said "She's got her boyfriend with her, he should've knocked him out HAHAHA be a man!".

Same, it's a good dynamic for a podcast. Ethan and Hasan bounce off each other surprisingly well. Some people seem to think that because their energy isn't as loud/bombastic as the Frenemies podcast was that means they have a bad dynamic, but it's an entirely different vibe.
That's what makes this so effective in my opinion.
I really like the angle he's taking it is a smart way to do it.
The only issue I have is previously he's acted like an authority on some pretty complex issues and this clearly shows he does not know much. Also Hasan can be a bit biased. I think this would be best with a third host who is centre-right to quell bias. But we all know that's not gonna happen, as much as they try to appear well rounded they really aren't. Still not a bad show but it's not much different from most others at the end of the day. Any predominantly right or left podcast is just going to become somewhat of a circle jerk.

The Dem's wishlist is pretty large, while the Republican's wishlist is to keep the status quo of lower taxes and regulations. We always discuss how women want tall men but not why. As a tall woman I have struggled with my femininity and societal standards constantly reinforce the stereotype of the strong masculine man and damsel in distress. This is a bias I used to constantly struggle with that really affected my self esteem. It’s hard out here - I have lots of love for my short kings, tall queens and everything in between.

every time I watch this podcast as a French guy I am in awe hearing that the hottest topics of debate in THE most powerful country in the world are a vaccine that's been proven to work and a theory that's been proven true while the whole world is falling apart.... even tho France doesn't do much better

What wasn't discussed in the beginning is a good reason for why people might be anti-sx work. In an ideal world where we can tell the difference between what is and isn't coerced and the actions of one only affects oneself, ya, being pro-sx work makes sense. The fact of the matter is that it isn't clear what is recorded consensually. The fact of the matter is that p*rn negatively affects our mental relationship with sx and how people see women. What is the point of self-empowerment if the end result is the same objectification that was experienced before?
I think the discussion was really limited on this front, but I do agree that the people who partake in this career do need more legal protections. Sx work is real work, but until the industry cleans up in some way or another, it is largely exploitative.
As with everything, the most reliable way to understand what someone wants to do is to ask them - obviously there are mitigating factors that might make that more difficult, but there's not really much the asker can do about that which wouldn't just as easily risk violating their will. And all industries are, by definition, exploitative - there is nothing inherently objectifying about porn more than the objective physical attraction that nearly all people experience one way or another, it could only be interpreted that way if it's your only exposure to the outside world

prostitution is legal and regulated in germany. the only reason it is dangerous and exploitative at all is because there is still a cultural stigma to it and capitalism has created so many desperate poor women that they sometimes have to resort to sex work and would rather shut up about the abuse they take than lose their income and risk being deported. this doesn't just apply to sex workers either. immigrant workers in general who depend on their employer for legal working visa status (nurses for example) are regularly exploited and treated like second class citizens - even in places like germany where capitalism is a little more regulated. this is a capitalism problem, not a sex work problem.

Regardless, indirectly benefiting off of exploitation by buying an item that you need to be able to work isn't an equivalent to directly and voluntarily participating in potential abuse.

As a longtime fan of H3 & Hasan when I found out they were doing a podcast together I was so hyped!!! It’s so refreshing to have a political podcast where 2 people can talk/debate/have different point of views & NOT berate each other or storm out. My dad’s a fan of Hasan but hadn’t seen much from H3 & now he’s a fan of both! My dad is American & my mom is Iranian & Turkish so I’ve been blessed to have been raised by 2 amazing human beings who raised my brother & I to be free thinkers, always instilled in us the importance of treating others w respect & never judging people based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion or political affiliation (as long as they aren’t spewing bigoted hate speech, as a family we don’t stand for that bullshit) they taught us the importance of standing up for others, fighting for what’s right & never backing down just bc someone is in a position of authority. My dad always says the key to being a good person is as simple as 4 words….DON’T BE A DOUCHEBAG. Keep up the good work gentleman, your podcast is a big highlight for us. We love watching your show together & have so much fun laughing together & it always starts great conversations between us. Peace & Love Papa Bless 🙏🙏

I'm an x-ray tech in a union, its great and I feel really secure in my job. We aren't allowed to technically go on strike because we're an essential service, but we can "Work to Rule" meaning we take turns going out to the picket line and are only on site for emergencies, but someone is always covering the department

I went on a trip to Vietnam in high school, it was one of the best experiences of my life. It's such a beautiful place with an interesting take on Southeast Asia from a Westerner's perspective. We went to a facility in Hanoi, the nation's capital, that is basically a boarding school, of children 18 years and younger that are suffering from some sort of generational birth defect, caused by Agent Orange used in the Vietnam War. The disorders present were vast, mostly mental/developmental, although some had physical disabilities like types of palsies and being unable to walk. But everyone there was affected differently. These kids were mostly five to _six_ generations past the conflict, and the painful aftermath of such a horrendous war crime is still alive and well today, and will continue to exist for _hundreds_ of years to come. All of the kids and teens were very sweet, I was with a group and we brought supplies over from home to give to them, such as arts and crafts supplies and toys. I even brought over a makeup palette and some brushes to give. One of the other students with me even donated his old iPad.
The damage that lies just below the surface, of many different places on the earth that are caused by America at some point in history, is something to always keep in mind and to educate yourself about. America isn't like ancient European empires like the British, Dutch and Spanish, it's only 243 years old as of 2022, and that's just of the original 16 colonies. It has managed to cause so much unbelievable, unjust pain onto other parts of the world.
Like America didn't have a single actual _need_ to be involved in Vietnam's civil war, but the civil war was about Communism vs. Buereocracy. So naturally, it travels across the world to involve itself and make an already terrible situation millions of times worse. America didn't _need_ to participate with Nicaragua's leftist/communist political fallout of the 80s inspired by Cuba, but Crooked Reagan still in the Communism craze needed to make America part of another nations conflict. And America certainly didn't need to unleash almost all of it's military might onto Middle Eastern nations that were in such a state of disarray already, with no clear goal besides find Bin Laden and prominent members of Al-Qaeda which caused 9/11 two years prior. Which meant a _lot_ of unnecessary violence against innocent parties, on both sides. And lastly of course we forget about Guantanamo Bay and torture being used on inmates for information, in the 21st Century!?
Hasan's impersonations are SPOT ON and I'm tired of pretending that they aren't.

I think this show could really benefit (it’s good already) from including Dan in the conversation, even if he isn’t an official third member of the pod. He seems well-versed in political discourse and always has come across as pretty informed regarding topics in that sphere. I can see his voice as adding to the conversation, while too gelling really well with Ethan and Hasan’s. He’s a great resource for a pod of this type that is already present, and it feels like he could add value and push the conversation forward. At least some frequent features from Dan the man would be cool to see.
