  • Join me while I taste the California Common we brewed a couple weeks ago. This beer style is usually a fall beer, but it’s also a great malt forward option for warmer months.

    Enjoy the content sir. I love this style as it gets the best of lagers without the need for longer fermentation times. Looks great. Hope you and the kids are doing well!

    Great video, many thanks. Just brewed a California Common and wanted to compare your tasting notes with mine as don’t have a commercial example to compare over here in Scotland.

    This beer ages very well. I've brewed both extract and all grain versions of California Common. Both tasted good and performed well in competition. I think this style is often overlooked because of the all the new hops and extremely dry and hop forward beers popular right now.

    Mazal tov! I’m absolutely floored you made the time to come our way and give us a tasting with a newborn in the house. When my son was born it was months before I brewed again.

    Congratulations on your new arrival! Glad you guys are staying safe too. Enjoyed the video as always. I'll keep "partial-mashing" (due to time and space), but "mashing" nonetheless. Cheers!

      Thanks for the well wishes!! Let me know how that steam beer turns out. I forgot how much sulphur smells the San Francisco Lager yeast puts of lol. So be warned if you are fermenting in or near living spaces 😉

    Thanks for the video! Glad it turned out well. What's your favorite beer you've brewed so far? Ps. Are you in NC?!

      After 8 years of brewing it’s hard to narrow down a favorite. I have a real love for saisons. Yes, I’m in Cary NC. Just outside Raleigh.

    Is it recommended to use a Pilsner glass style for a California Common?

    • @fantasticfermentations5637
      @fantasticfermentations5637  Před 3 lety +1

      There are a few styles of beer that I restrict to a certain type of glass but Cali Common is not one of them. 9/10 if the beer isn’t Belgian, then I’m drinking it from a large mason jar 😂 You can take the boy out of the country but you can’t take the country out of the boy.
