How to brew a Belgian Quad

- A couple of friends join me as I brew a Belgian Quad. We decided since this beer had such a large grain bill, that we would get two beers for the price of one and do this thing Parti-gyle Style. This technique is when you continue to sparge so that you collect another 5 gallons of wort. The first beer will be your larger gravity style and the second will be a much lower session style beer. Our session beer turned out to be a Belgian Amber (at least that's what we will call it).
Belgian Quad Recipe
Belgian Pilsner 71%
Munich Light 13%
German Wheat 2%
Aromatic Malt 4%
Caramunich I 4%
Special B 4%
Melanoiden Malt 2%
Mash @ 152 F
Hallertau 25 IBUs @ 60 min
WLP 530 (3 Liter Starter) Ferment at 66 F
Add 1 lb D-180 Candi Sugar on day 3 of fermentation

Just brewed a quad today, and discovered this post. This is the first I've heard of this "parti-gyle", nor did I have the setup at the time, but it makes a lot of sense.
I'll keep it in mind for next time I brew a big beer, as 2 beers for the effort and grain bill of 1 is a smart move.
Thanks for the tip. Subscribed.
Great video mate. I do love a good Belgian and extra beer is always a yes.
Great content, Ricky. I just subscribed. Belgian Quad is one of my favorite styles. This one is on this list to brew. May tryout your recipe.
Cheers 🍻
I will be posting an update this weekend. The smaller beer is ready and the Quad is moving along nicely.
Great video. Can’t wait to see how both turn out.
Nice work. I liked the grain Bills. What temp did you guys ferment at?
I fermenter at 68 F
