  • With the weather being a bit crap in north Wales and the UK generally in the last month, I've had abandon plans for a roadtrip and some wild walking and instead offer another outdoor clothing review which always seem popular. This time, the classic, superwarm North Face McMurdo Parka.

Good video! I have it for a few years already and it is indeed quite warm, good for staying in the cold and not too much for working hard or trailing wearing it. The only complaint I'd have is the shoulders of the McMurdo, seems the down is not properly sitting there, tends to move away, and thus you might end up being cold there, while the rest of the body is very warm.

Thank you, good honest review. I have the McMurdo and agree with you, has limited use but if you are standing around in cold, wet winter weather it’s great. Didn’t realise that about Canada Goose either.

I've just ordered one on the cheap from ebay as in the coming months I'll be filming outdoors a lot in the open, standing relatively motionless in the elements so neeeeed basically a sleeping bag I can wear. I really hope it cuts the mustard 🤞🤞🤞

I had the original mcmurdo for 15 years and it was still going strong when I donated it to someone in need and upgraded to the mcmurdo 2 which is still going strong 7 years on.
Agree with what you say- it’s fine for mooching about in the winter or going football, but even when I went to Moscow in my first one, I had to undo mine when walking! Base layers and a Patagonia micropuff does me better if I actually go hiking or up a mountain.
Ps re pricing- I got both of mine for around 40% off by buying out of season.

Indeed...we've had pretty mild winters in Wales recently and it only comes out on those rare days it gets around freezing. Otherwise I get too warm.

Hi... this is a Medium. I normally take a Large but I had to exchange it as the Large is huge! I don't think there is too much difference between the one and two except in price. The Mac II is really expensive in Europe. Cheaper in the US I understand.

Good, honest review. I came across this video while looking for a new home for my Mcmurdo which I've grown out of 😜 but can't decide on the best method. I think giving it to a charity shop, it would end up being under-appreciated as an heirloom item of clothing. I'm open to sensible suggestions?

    • @blackdogwildtrails3123

You have a great voice and are an excellent presenter BUT you need to drastically condense your presentation. Way too much time given to belaboring the point. I just ordered this parka and do agree with your assessment. Living in Alaska this is great for me. Being a professional public speaker I have learned that the attention span of most people is about three minutes. Just some friendly advice.

North Face like Patagonia claim their fillings are ethically sourced. Hardly the same as Canada Goose and their trapping practice to get a bloody hood liner!
