Good review. Decent jacket that's a credible alternative to the Canada goose Equivalent. I wore mine in Lithuania -10c (13f) with a shirt underneath. I was outside for numerous hours at a time. I felt warm. I could definitely have worn with a decent mid & baselayer and this jacket would likely be suitable in -30c (-22f). Superb bit of kit
Hi. Great review. I just bought me the mcmurdo 2 jacket from the north face store in the UK..... my hood doesn't have the same "face protector" feature as the one you have. Are they different in the UK?
I just bought a McMurdo 2 as well (from The North Face 'outlet' store in Braintree, Essex) and I too was looking for the built-in visor thing, but it's not there. Why is it that everything in the US or Europe is so much better made than in the UK? I guess it's because we're less demanding than they are.
Ahh shit. I've just ordered one in a small and am 6' and 80kg. What a ball ache, can see it'll have to go back ☹ shame when I got it for under £100 on ebay. That won't happen twice
I still have my McMurdo(1) from 10 years ago . Got a deal on it for $135 (yes its not a fake) . I size down from usual L to get this in M. There are years where I wear it more than others but it's still in great condition.The only knock I have on it is its weight and bulkiness.. I know it kind of goes with the territory with these George Costanza parkas. Maybe the new ones are lighter. Just many times if its not in the 20s or below, I'd much rather layer up with my thick (much lighter) down jacket than wear this. Show less REPLY

If you turn the furr around and button it the other way, there wont be no holes in between the buttons. Plus it looks much better in my opinion 😉

Doesn’t look the same as McMurdo 2 in UK. Black flaps not on main pockets and other features don’t match unfortunately.

Long additional zippers under the arms on a parka that is supposed to protect you from arsh wind in extreme cold weather isnt a good idea.
