    Can we use hardwood cuttings with other types of hydrangeas during the winter?

      Yes, this works with all members of the genus Hydrangea.

    I am going to root some Camellia Japonica, The parent plant is a Professor Sargent I believe that is about10'x12'. I have watched a lot of CZcams videos about propagating Camellia's, but some say the cambium layer is the green layer as you do and others say it's the white layer below the green and to remove the green. To clarify this part do I remove a section of the bark down to and including the cambium or just down to the cambium layer. I will be using cuttings and air layering and would like to know which layer is the correct one. Since this is my first try at both procedures I am not expecting a Cambrian Explosion type of event, but would like to have a high percentage of success. I await your reply.. Also, will the Hydrangea procedure work with other flowers, Good video. Thank YOU...

      The white is just wood and is dead cambium tissue. Cambium is green underneath the bark. Just expose the cambium
      Look on my propagation playlist. I have a camellia video.

    Can i use this same method for azaleas?

    • @Dr.Warren
      @Dr.Warren  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I wouldn't recommend it. Azaleas can be difficult to root. Usually need to take cuttings in late fall and place on heat mats. Sometimes you also need to be on a fungicide regiment because botrytis can be an issue.

      @Dr.Warren thank you. Do you have a video for azaleas?
