Wow I was raised in port orange lived in deep forest neighborhood and by the grace of God we never experienced a hurricane. Prayers to all who live in Florida. Was seriously considering moving back down from Maryland but after Ian I’m having second thoughts.

My son lives off of spruce creek near Jackson rd. I was just out there three weeks ago. I was planning on moving out there and had actually bought a house in maplewood Estates right on the canal but turned around and sold it a few weeks later. That was in April. Glad I got out from under that one. Think I'll move back to Palm coast instead.

Lived in the area my entire life and it is not the norm. Storm happens. Weather happens. Could have happened anywhere really.

First of all you should not have been out in that mess but thank you for the video. Your video shows the extent of the flooding here in Port Orange better than anything I have seen so far on youtube. I have lived in Port Orange almost 50 years and this is definitely the most flooding I have ever seen. We might have had more wind with some of the other storms but this definitely is the most water.

I agree . Not much coverage over here . Understandable since the west side got worse. But it is important to document

I have ridden every hurricane out since 93 and this was by far the worst one I have seen to date.

Daytona had 21 inches official recorded for the storm. A guy in Wilbur by the sea had 39 inches. Unofficial.

I do not doubt the unoficial report at all.

I'm in the river in Port Orange, directly across from Wilbur. "Their" official rainfall report is BS. People have weather stations around me. All their readings said it was over 20 inches of in just the first half of Ian. I absolutely believe the 39 in reading in Wilbur. My house slab sits five feet above sea level and the lot slopes. The flood water rose over four feet around me. I got very lucky.

You'd most likely want to view some Paul Beckwith YT videos. He's a climate scientist who has been explaining the effects of GHG's, Artic and glacial melt, warming and the effects globally with our now defunct jet streams... He recently posted a video on Ian... He's going to COP27 in Egypt soon. All things weather explained in former vids.
