I live on Devon Street here in Port Orange, and in all my years of living through hurricanes, I have never seen the flooding statewide that Ian brought. This is biblical damage, but our poor fellow southwest Floridians took the brunt of the storm. Prayers appreciated.🤗

I live on the river in Port Orange. For the rest of my life, I will NEVER forget how blessed I was. Our sub developer graded the lots so houses sit up 5 feet above sea level. Our streets and yards were raging rivers but water stayed three feet from my house. Dumb luck that I bought a house built like this. So so sad for my neighbors. People here are so nice. Heartbreaking that they are going through this.

South Daytona, Big Tree and Magnolia area got it BAD. Turned into one big retention lake. We only had about 3” of water in our home because we sit a little up hill, but 5 foot in the street and people at the ends of the road had 4-5 foot of water in their homes. It looks like a disaster zone with constant reminders of what we’ve all lost because still 2 weeks later no one has come to pick any of it up. 5 foot high piles of drywall and sheet rock, insulation, cabinets, EVERYTHING had to be gutted out of some of the homes. Then you’ve got people rummaging through peoples belongings taking what they want. It’s just a terrible situation and I’ll never stay here for a hurricane again after living here all my life.

It is such a heart break to see everyone’s belongings out on the street for trash pick up. It’s very sad to see beautiful Florida and their people have to suffer these losses.

If you get a chance, take a tour through Maplewood Estates. I bought a house on Finley Drive back in April but turned around and sold it right away after we changed our minds about 55 plus communities. Was curious as to how big a bullet we dodged on that one. The house is a double wide on the north end of finley with a huge two car garage added on. I think it was 5424. It was right on the canal.

Is a homeowner obligated to clean up their backyard that is full of broken trees & downed branches. This is causing an eyesore in my backyard. It has been over 2 months since the hurricane.

Myself and my friend. Just went through there. Not 2 hours ago. It's so sad. Everything these people want is on curb out for trash. Breaks my heart. Let's help one another please!

Looks like houston after hurricane Harvey back in 2017. 50 inches of rain in 72 hours.

@@garyr421150 inches in 72 hours - that was what houston and southeast Texas got from Harvey in 2017. This looks so much like the Sugarland and Missouri city areas of Houston back then. I lived in Palm coast a few years ago. They didn't get hit as hard as port orange according to a friend of mine there. My son lives off of spruce creek rd there in Port orange. . He was fortunate. But another hour of rain and they would be hauling stuff to the curb also. Praying for all of you out there.
